Immunization Records From the State of Florida

I requested my PCP to obtain my immunization records from the State of Florida. By the following day, my immunization record was waiting for me at the office. The immunization record contains the State of Florida letterhead on my record. My PCP's name and address was listed as the office which requested the records on my behalf.

All my vaccinations are listed with the dates administered and type of vaccine. I was most concerned about my Moderna vaccine and all information is correct.

To my surprise, Florida has records of my immunizations as a child when I was a resident of New York State. Now I know the years I had those vaccines.

My take away......Big brother knows where you are and knows where you have been. There is no getting away from that.

I like the idea of having my medical records available online in case of an emergency.

A) never though gov't didn't know all that...B)you've made no point just stated a few well known facts-why? ...C)why post you've had the vaccine for covid?

I honestly was not sure if the State of Florida had a record of my Covid vaccination. Now I'm sure and I'm relieved.

As for posting that I have had the Covid vaccine......I've had that fact in my signature ever since I had my second shot and am very proud to show proof of my vaccination to any business that requests it. Why hide it?

But, but, I thought hippa laws was supposed to protect you medical records? Every company but you can get you medical records, you have to paid for each page printed. And that’s after jumping through hoops. Had doctor make mistake documenting one health problem. good luck getting it corrected or out of you’re records that any insurance agency can see.

Carla B 06-05-2021 10:45 AM

It wouldn't be so bad if "they," who know all, got health records right but they don't. My vaccination records state that I received certain vaccines at Belleview, FL which isn't possible, since I lived far away from there at the time.

One of my husband's medical records from a large hospital in another state noted that he arrived at the ER heavily under the influence and was a habitual alcoholic. That gentleman of the same name (and social security number) was several years older and had one leg. Last time I looked, my husband had two.

It's HIPAA. One p, 2 a's. Health Information Privacy Protection Act.

And yes, HIPAA does protect your medical records. It protects them from very specific things that are spelled out in detail. You can read the entire act and learn about diffrent aspects of it online, here: Health Information Privacy | HHS.gov

Also, you don't "have to" pay for each page printed. The doctor's office has the right to charge you for them, but they're not required to charge you for them. Also, if you just want your information transferred to a new doctor, you can fill out a HIPAA form that gives your new doctor your authorization to request that information from your previous doctor, and the files are typically transferred with no charge to anyone.

OBB....I think you have that incorrect. This is what HIPAA stands for.......
HIPAA, also called the privacy rule

Susan Garbarino 06-06-2021 05:43 AM

What HIPAA stands for:

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996

D) Why bother to make this response?

We found this very enlightening. Thank you poster

My doctor told me that the national government as well as state has records . Isn't that a good thing ?

Till the last line I thought it was going to be positive. I was disappointed.

IMHO, it most certainly is a good thing.

You may be disappointed but the fact remains, our information is out there and that is something everyone needs to realize. Honestly, it does not bother me in the least.

Those of you who have booked cruises on the basis that folk on it , and cruise staff, will be vaccinated.. you now have a problem, cruise with those un-vaccinated, and risk a dose of Covid or cancel, but will you get your money back..... De Santis is not helping folks stay safe, with fines and bans on asking folk for proof of vaccination. We are all entitled to be safe and travel that way too. What hold does he( and Mr T) have over the cruise industry....Money I suppose, is far more important than peoples lives. Come on someone do right by the passengers for a change.

Thank you for this! I had no idea my PCP could get my entire vaccination record. I plan to ask--I'd love to have it all in one place, in writing! When my husband was in the Army, we all had those little yellow booklets that kept track of everything and I've kind of missed those.

As far as your state of heath, having a central knowledge of it is not a bad thing.

I thought it was interesting. I didn’t know you could request those records or that records even existed back to childhood in the states records.

I'd be interested in learning how to obtain a copy of my immunization records, if for no other reason than to fill in the blanks on my medical records in which I am asked "When did you receive your pneumonia/flu/Covid/measles...etc./ vaccine?" If my records are so readily available, I wonder why my PCP hasn't already obtained the immunization record so I won't have to wrack my mind trying to remember?

Mrodmh 06-07-2021 07:58 AM

I laughed out loud

This is rich. Correcting another with incorrect information in which you actually very eloquently contradict yourself.

CynthiaAnn 06-07-2021 09:30 AM

You need to recount

You need to recount.. you underlined 2 "P's and 1 A. It is HIPPA. HIPAA is something totally different.

Whoopie Doooo!
Are folks going to start getting this excited over their yearly flu shots too?

Carlsondm 06-07-2021 01:10 PM

Thank you. Good information to know. I definitely don't want to be poked twice. It will be interesting to see if other states keep similar records. Some insurance companies use that information too.

rustyp 06-08-2021 05:54 AM

And so the restrictions for the non vaccinated shall begin !

From a northern NY border town new source this morning:

Canada may soon be loosening its rules to allow fully vaccinated travelers to cross the border after more than a year of closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple news outlets are reporting.

I most certainly am OK with it. We are talking about immunization records, not medical records. There is a difference. Immunization records are to prove you have immunity to certain diseases and can not make others sick. What is wrong with that?

I do not equate my immunization records which the State of Florida can produce on a dime to.......China. Far from it.

Agree. It was a very nice surprise to know I can prove my vaccinations to Covid with records other than my CDC card. The fact that my childhood immunizations were included, is what really makes me feel comfortable about having this record.
