The most beautiful house in the villages
There are many beautiful houses in The Villages. Is this number one?

I do agree, however under the law it is not. As far as invasion of privacy you will be shocked how much information about you is on the internet. On me, I used to laugh about what it said about me on spokeo. I do not give valid information out on surveys. Spokeo used to say I am over 150 years old and money, more than Buffet. My aunt, now in assisted living, must have looked it up as she is the only one listed that I know. I will not call her to object. But, she does not know when I was born or my birthday. As Mark Twain said we make no progress because we lose what was. I would be lost without my computer but, what we have lost is privacy. |

You didn't respond to my question, however: your reason for it. Hey, how about those guys who were filming in front of the school on Rolling Acres? They were on public property but still got arrested. |
Nice!
|
Is it really a two store home? Only two windows up high and they look more like decorative ones.
|
There is nothing illegal about filming a home from the street. It isn't as if he used a telephoto lens to look in the windows or anything. That said, the house might be larger than most here but I don't find it particularly impressive. It is a nice home but it looks like every other house, just larger. Shrug.

From the voice it may be an outside real estate agent who sells houses within The Villages who has made several videos about TV.

It’s ok but I don’t like second floors, I have that in the city up north. I am not fond of the lanai facing a busy golf course. But the landscaping is very nice. And the location in general is great. In many ways it is a beautiful large home.
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, to me the most beautiful house is the one that welcomes me. |

Depends on whether the street is private? |
Not all that impressed by it. Have seen many homes I like more here in the Villages.

When we lived in California and Google started their Street View program, you could put a sign out front saying "no google" and they claimed they would not film that house (or would blur it out). Not sure how well it worked but at least they gave
you the option |
The most beautiful house in TV to me is the one that I own.
Comparison is the thief of all joy. |

I lived on a golf course for 13 years and you give up a lot of privacy doing so, being so near to a sand trap makes for hearing a lot of cussing. It's a nice house but there are many that in my opinion are more beautiful, several of which are on Iron Oak way and the lower end of Observation Trail and they also have a lot more privacy.

It's pretty. Not impressed. |
I don’t see anything special here. Very plain and way too much roof. Have seen others that I would much prefer is money was no object.

Not a two story. Those are fake dormers.

Is this the most beautiful home in The Villages? I don’t think so, but tastes differ. It is attractive. The colors are nice. There are houses in that neighbourhood that I like better. When houses here have 2,500 or more square feet, often that is because the indoor space is taking up room that might instead be used for a big birdcage and pool. So this house has an entirely glassed in “lanai” with a big roof over it, but no apparent patio. Many of us like having an outdoor area instead of the extra indoor space, so we wouldn’t choose this house. It has a nice golf course view, but not spectacular. Does this house scream out “Florida!” No. It could be in a development in Connecticut, or Kansas. |

It seems no matter what is posted here, there are always some folks who find it to be upsetting, wrong or in bad taste. This will always be.

That house is very nice, but - I think MY house is the most beautiful!

Am I the only one who finds it appalling and obnoxious for some guy to film a home that is owned by someone I assume he does not know, add in his own blathering commentary, post it on YouTube, and then have it thrown to the wolves on TOTV?
His filming has nothing to do with real estate ads, Google, county property records — things we all know we have to expect as a matter of course. If he knows the owners and asked permission, I apologize — but I don’t think that is what’s going on with this video. I think he has invaded someone’s privacy to use in some kind of “show” he is doing about TV — and I think that is either a thoughtless or arrogant thing to do. My guess is that if he has given this any thought at all, he thinks because he is making “nice” comments (unlike some posters here) he thinks it’s OK to declare open season on a random owner’s home. Unless the owner gave permission, the YouTube video, and this thread, too, need to be taken down. But I would bet the homeowner knows nothing about this (for now). I hope the person who is out and about doing this kind of thing will give more thought to his behavior. If he does that and still thinks it’s OK. . .well, then — geez, what a clod. Boomer |
It is absolutely NOT an invasion of privacy!
If the poster trespassed it would be. However he did it from the street. He's making a compliment on what the OWNER of the home wants US to see. Most homeowners in TV are proud of their home and it shows in the neatness of the property, the design of the landscaping, the choice of flowers and shrubbery and the paint colors, trim and roof shingles. Let me ask you this: Is it an invasion of privacy to drive around TV during Christmastime and look at all the decorations? Is it wrong to take pictures of all the lights? Of course not. If you want privacy, put up a big solid fence or pull down your shades. The OP had something nice to say and share with all of us. No need to be snobbish. |

Wow..... .you say...unlike some posters here..... sorry , but you sound very nasty yourself... This guy does have a little show, if you wanna call it that, he does with his wife and they cover a million places of interest on the villages, all unbiased, general info. I'm pretty sure there are no laws broken here, with or without owners permission...in fact I'm sure the owner was tickled to be in his video. What the heck is going on down here lately, people are so cranked up. I thought tv was the friendliest place to be? Surely not anywhere near you. |

Since you asked — Christmas lights are different. We bought in a village close to the elaborate Christmas display that used to happen every year in Hadley so I am well aware of the planning that goes into displays like that. It was impressive and fun and intended to be a “show” so that was all perfectly fine. Such a display is done for the public. I remain of the opinion that if this video was done without the owner’s permission, it was a downright tacky thing to do. “Nice” comments by the guy are are not the issue. No absolution there. If he continues to drive around and film homes to “feature” in his YouTube videos, he needs to ask permission from the owners. (Maybe he did that — but I doubt it — and like I said above, if so, I apologize.) Your comparison to Christmas lights is not a true comparison. One is invited. One (likely) was not. Btw, my manners are not “snobbish” like you said. I remain, Judith Martin-Boomer |

Illegal? Absolutely not. Your definition of "invited" is flawed. It would be like saying everyone's Ring doorbell, Nest cam, etc, that happens to capture a neighbors house, is in violation of the law. What about the aerial photos used on The Villages home listings, or private realtors who capture other than the home which is for sale? Is that a violation as well? No. What about news crews filming a house from the street? |

Where is your proof? We'd all love to know, otherwise this too will just go back and forth. |
Addendum to my post #34 above:
I have no doubt that if he wants to feature homes — or gardens — or whatever in his future videos and asks permission from homeowners, he would get it — maybe 50% (or more) of the time. In fact, if he gets into a general asking for volunteer homeowners, he would probably get enough to make a regular “feature” with everybody happy — no lines crossed— and I do not mean property lines. I mean the lines of behavior with others. Some people like to show their homes. For example, every city has home shows with people actually opening their homes to the ticketed public, usually as a fundraiser for a community project — mostly in historic neighborhoods where their homes are truly a labor of love they want to share. Do I ever go to them? Yes. But that’s different. Those are by invitation. (They always have booties at the door, and I politely put them on, of course.) And do I ever drive by to gawk at especially beautiful homes or landscapes? Of course. But that’s different. I am not recording, commenting, and slapping it up on the internet. This guy could be onto a popular feature for his videos — but I call bs on any uninvited drive-by version. And soooooo — if he wants to do this, he needs to do it with just plain, old-fashioned manners, politely asking first. He would get people who would love to have their homes featured. (And for those who keep on keeping on — please pay attention — for the 1000th time, I said if he asked permission, I apologize for my assumption.) Well, enough of this trying to explain nuance and manners to those posters here who insist on interpreting things only as either/or — with ‘em or agin ‘em — always looking for somebody to gang up on. Geez. The Mean Streets of TOTV are full of the usual traffic this morning. . . So much predictable posting — often displaying a textbook projection of their own consistent behavior as posters — always looking for a reason to jump all over somebody — while dragging along their own history of only such types of posts. And all too typical of TOTV these days. . .“Ah, look at all the ‘angry’ people. Where do they all come from?” Boomer |
