Moving Boxes

We have two move in deliveries in August, and I think my wife bought every Bankers Box in Virginia! Is there a way to recycle, give away or otherwise remove all of the empty boxes. I will give them away of someone can use them. ( I can’t believe that the trash pickup service would take them………would they?). I know this must be a common question.

Toymeister 07-11-2021 07:25 PM

Trash will pick them up. All waste is burned and converted to steam to power turbines to generate electricity.

30% of the waste in NYC is processed this way and nearly all in Europe.

Topspinmo 07-11-2021 09:28 PM

You can post here something people moving out need boxes, if that don’t work as suggests tie them in bundles and put them out on curve on trash day.

Boxes

Thanks Toymeister. I received a private message about the boxes, but I have no idea how to possibly reply to it! If there is a REPLY button, they have hidden it well. The boxes will be available the week of August 23rd. Please send me another private message with an email or phone number so I can reply to you.
Also, any instructions on how to use the private email feature would be appreciated.
Thanks

From your box comment sounds like your bringing far too much”stuff” you may wish you had left a sizable amount of your “stuff”either sold or donated. We found that if a do over we would sell most everything and buy turnkey or new.

Best to bring too much rather than regret leaving things behind.

I could use some boxes. Please repost when you are ready. Thanks!

It is nice what you are trying to do. As others have posted people move both in and out so people can use them. As far as trash there are several different companies that do the trash in different areas. Perhaps, old news ours is Waste Management and I was surprised they have no limit. Boxes that we tossed in the trash, it is easy to flatten them and stuff several into a box you do not crush.

Bankers boxes? My sister gave us some used ones for our move. I think they are expensive. I gave mine away. If the still exist, they must be like an antique trunk with world wide labels on them.

Yes, boxes are picked up by garbage trucks.

Bankers boxes are pretty small. They don't hold that much, but they are much easier to carry...

The ones that take up the most space are the ones with hangers for hanging shirts, dresses, pants, etc

recycle/reuse boxes

If you can find a U-Haul store, you can drop off your boxes there. Then people can actually take them for FREE from there. I've picked up a few boxes there in their FREE bin.

Just a tidbit of information, if you are planning on replacing flooring or painting soon, keep enough of your Banker's boxes to load all of your little/breakable things. They are easy to fold up and store and saves you the hassle of finding some in the future.

Bankers Boxes is a company who makes all sizes of boxes. They make wardrobe boxes, mirror/TV boxes, small, medium and large boxes. Not just the type that “bankers” would use.

Yes, it's a brand, just like "Kleenex" or "Vaseline" are brands.

They are also the term used for a specific product. In this case, its a box, typically measuring 12 x 10 x 15...
