back to single riders?

I do hope that we go back to the single riders in carts on golf courses.

Do you hope there is a mask mandate and that there is closure of all facilities as well?

There certainly are people who do want that. There are several states that are not far removed from that.

justjim 07-29-2021 08:01 AM

Unfortunately a lot of people don’t take Covid seriously until a relative or friend dies from it. Sad.

With your mask soundly in place just tell the starter you are immune compromised and must ride alone.

Careful what you wish for!!

*sigh* common sense and freedom of choice is rapidly disappearing ... if you've had the shot you don't actually have to mask...tis scientifically proven that a minuscule amount of those vaccinated get the virus...if you don't get the shot and do not wear a mask that is a free choice and those who've had the shot should just shut up as they have been vaccinated and likely won't get the virus.

More children died from the flu last year than covid...how come you always maskers haven't been wearing a mask your whole life???

How many people die from bathroom accidents in a year? Perhaps we should make people wear a football or motorcycle helmet when they get out of bed so that head injuries are fewer.

The problem with always maskers is they are the lemmings of the human race and do many things that endanger themselves as well as others yet still continue on taking risks while...driving even though as they age they screw up more and more, climb ladders even though their balance is in question....don't drink enough water when out of doors(no being in a pool does not increase your hydration)...forget to take their meds regularly...ignore the suggestions and orders from doctors because they googled it and decided they don't like the risk of serious side effects.

As least if you're going to tell others what to do preface your comment by "I am a sheep and follow the unscientific suggestions/rules from a gov't that can't even follow/obey their own suggestions/rules." By all means always add the addendum "I am a hypocrite because I only follow the rules as I see fit."

Could I ask if you were a sheep getting your vaccination or maybe you have not been vaccinated.

Dana, if we all lowered our speed on highways to 35, thousands of lives would be saved. It becomes an individual choice of what are you willing to give up.

For an answer to the ORIGINAL question, you have always had the ability to ride single in a cart. They will ask you to ride double but you can and always have had the ability to say you want to ride as a single. What the group has to do is ensure only 2 carts on the fairway of any hole. So that needs to be decided before each hole who can ride on the fairway. On the executive courses this is no a big deal as there are usually only one or two par 4 holes. On championship courses it is more of a hassle.

Not really. The rule on the championship course has always been that the person who refuses to double up is the one who gets to stay on the cart path. Prior to COVID, this was even posted on several of the starter shacks, the one I remember most was Destin at Bonifay.

Sorry that is incorrect. If there are more then 2 carts, only 2 carts can be in the fairway at a time. You either misread the the posting or it was misinformation.

You're right, it did say 2 carts in fairway, not one on cart path. But the sign did say the person who refuses is the one that has to stay off the fairway. The few times it had come up it was never a problem since someone was usually in the rough anyway. But one time an ambassador told our group that the same person had to stay in the rough the whole time, we couldn't switch off. Was that correct? You certainly would know better than I.

That was what the man said. The one who refuses to double stays on path.

Yes is an individual choice.

You can choose to stop going to work and rob a bank.

You can choose to shoot your noisy neighbor.

You can choose to kick your ball out of the rough when no one is looking.

If you decide personally to drive 100mph through a neighborhood.

But, society has a right to impose punishment when you choose to do things that are detrimental to society.

Ambassador was sorta correct, the guidelines say that the golfers can alternate holes, if you are not in the fairway on the first you can be on the next and someone else stays in the ruff. But some of the courses allow 2 on, one comes on and the other one goes off.

"The Man was incorrect" it was the same rule as before the virus. And refusing is not a good way of putting it, how about choses, ie,, smoker, virus protection, etc.

Papa_lecki 07-29-2021 01:13 PM

My golf game is so precise my doesnt land in the middle of the fairway, it lands where the cart paths are, the right or left side of the fairway. Maybe not the side of the cart path for that hole, but maybe the next hold.

It’s not all about you…Citizenship carries both rights and responsibilities. We are all in this mess together. If you want to enjoy what life you have left be part of the solution, not the problem.

You can drive your own cart on any course. The rule is only 2 carts on the fairway. Stay on the cart path.

CappyRam 07-30-2021 05:21 AM

That would really start to take the quality of the courses backwards again. 2 carts do their fair share of damage to grass to begin with, adding two more per foursome would do more damage than good. I did like the pace of play picking up when we had too, but it took a toll on the courses. MHO

Unfortunately, it looks likely that we will be heading back in that direction. But you never "had to" ride single, you just needed to convince someone to ride with you.

kimgarwel12@gmail.com 07-30-2021 07:03 AM

And we've had several starters tell us they don't get paid enough to argue with people who only want to drive in their carts alone. We see it both ways all over. As long as you're on the cart path, it shouldn't matter if you're sharing a cart or single in yours. Right after they went back to sharing carts, we had one particularly snarky starter tell us if you didn't share a cart, they wouldn't let you play! I think Covid has set the tone from here on out. Back to "normal?" Those days are long gone!

How dare you classify mask wearers as LEMMINGS! You obviously don’t believe in Science. I do. I’d rather be safer with the vaccine and mask, than on a ventilator fighting for my life and worrying about the long term effects of COVID. I also would like to help prevent others, like YOU, from getting the virus IF I’m a carrier. But, that’s me! I care about others. Start thinking about this…start!

donassaid 07-30-2021 08:03 AM

Seriously? You can take your own cart now. Just keep it on the cart path. But I understand that many people despise personal freedom and want to mandate what everyone has to do.

Of course nobody wants that....We found a vaccine that was over 90% effective and almost 100% effective against death from the virus. We simply had ONE thing to do....but NOOOOOO! the anti-vaxers couldn't do that! So here we are again!!!! And now politicians like the FL Governor are preventing us from even protecting ourselves. Its like they really want us dead.

The most amusing part is that most of the mask wearer aren't even aware that unless you are using a fitted N95 mask, they are worse than useless.

Did you take it seriously when people like my mother died from complications from the H1N1 virus - in Nov. 2009? Did you take it seriously when people like two of my best friends died from cervical cancer due to HPV ? Do you take it seriously when someone like a member of my neighbor’s family died from the actions of a drunk driver? I take anyone’s death as being serious! Why the heck is a Covid death any different? All of the deaths I mentioned above could have been prevented with government mandated - face masks, condoms, prohibition of alcohol - my goodness - please realize people are dying every day from things - that could have been prevented with extreme govt. intervention. Why are you just thinking we should take an illness like Covid serious - when - in fact - the number of deaths due to Covid are so far below many other deaths that are equally or more serious?
