The prices of Golf Carts are C R A Z Y !
Now that I have moved into The Villages, I have decided on buying a new / used golf cart and the current prices on golf carts are just crazy. The new carts at The Villages Golf Shops are about 15% more than last year, they are offering no incentives and there is no availability. Some new cart's are taking over two months for delivery. When the snow birds come down in a few months with all their money, I get this feeling the prices are just going to increase even more.
Also the asking prices on the used golf cart's sold by individuals are close to full retail. I just can't believe what's going on with inflation. Any suggestions? Thanks |
Pick out what you want on a Yamaha and have then give you a price at Villages Golf Carts and then go down to Webster FL near Bushnell to Country Village Power Equipment and you get a much better price and nice people to deal with. There will probably be a wait because everyplace is having trouble getting supplies. If you want used, keep checking this site and the NextDoor site for used.

Snow birds are not going to increase prices. Supply and demand will

Between your post on Houses and now golf carts.....are you sure you want to move here?
|
Second for Country Village Power Equipment.
|
Who’s going to work on these golf carts? Not local.

Welcome to The Villages. You'll most likely find everything from food to services to goods are more expensive in Florida than they are where you're coming from. There's some balance/trade-off since we pay no state taxes. As for golf carts, there's some service advantage to buying from The Villages cart stores, but a lot of people buy elsewhere...it's about what perks and convenience you want in your retirement life.

I second the Villages Discount Golf Carts on 466....right next to Birdies golf. Got my cart there ( 2020) . It is actually a golf cart used in tournaments ( like a demo). Much cheaper than The Villages Golf carts, will service at your house too!

And they even removed the grass cutting blade so you cant use it to cut your grass!

The wait for a new cart is now 5 months. Yes, the Villages Golf Carts are more expensive. But you get a loaner cart while you wait for the new cart. We chose to buy from the Villages Golf Carts-we got great service and had a loaner cart for 3 months until our new cart arrived.

What about the Atomic?
Did you check out the Atomic Golf Cart? I heard they have AC and heat

Atomic Electric Golf Carts

Vgc
We ordered a new Yamaha cart from The Villages Golf Cars in June and it’s due to arrive in October. However for those 5 months we have a free loaner cart. The price is what it is. It’s how bad do you want a great cart with convenience?

The Villages Golf Store told me they only service carts brought from them.
|
Buy one out of state and have it shipped thousands cheaper
|
When we asked about availability they told us it would be December or January until we could get a new cart. We decided to buy a used cart. Check the paper, next-door or on here. We paid $5600.
|
We just priced out a 2nd golf car from the Villages Golf Cars. No...prices have not gone up 15%, more like 4% from last year. As for pre-owned carts? It's simple supply and demand. Kinda like houses nowadays, a good used cart will be snatched up in a matter of days, if not hours. We will continue to buy from Villages Golf Cars because they provide great service.

Perfect is not possible. They are expensive and there is no shortage of other places to use. |

They don't hold their value like a Yamaha so the used ones are cheap. |
yes, they are high. and its supply and demand, so they are not discounting or making deals.
yes there is a queue to get them built. I waited 2 months. it was worth it. and we made the choice to use the folks in the Villages due to service needs. I didn't want to buy from someone 20 miles away. that made us nervous. anyway, we had a nice custom one we are happy with . $16K |
Buy used from a private party. Most are in good condition and will give you years of use. For example we were snowbirds and don’t golf so usage is very low. When our E-bikes arrive in September we will likely sell our cart.

My husband and I purchased 2 preowned golf carts last year from private owners. The 2016 2-seater was $6,000 and the 2016 4-seater was just a bit more. They are both in excellent condition with nice upgrades. If you keep scanning the classifieds you can eventually find deals.

Check out Carts and Clubs right on 301 just before you get into Ocala proper. I saved about $600 on a new Yamaha with basically the dame features on the price the Villages gave me. Their maintenance service has been great since too.

Can I ask a question about golf carts?
I don't own one but ride in many with my neighbors and on golf courses. Is there any golf cart(s) that ride better the a lumber wagon? To me, my John Deere tractor I had up north rode better then any cart I been on. You would think as simple and over priced they all are, they could find a better suspension system. |

it's not a rip-off. To me they are integral to the TV lifestyle. Convenient. Get great mileage and a lot of fun to have!
We were able to sell a car (and therefore one less car to insure) as part of the plan for getting a golf cart. Seems to be little need for 2 cars and 1 cart for 2 drivers. So to us, we actually ended up AHEAD as the car sold for $28,000, and the cart was bought for $16K. Our insurance overall dropped by about half - cart insurance is very cheap. so I don't see it as a rip-off at all |
