Private Airport Transportation

I searched this on TOTV archives and the last entry was a year and a half ago. Need dependable, insured, private car transportation to MCO. The big boys have set times for pick-up at the airport, and we would have to wait 2 hours, according to their schedules. Any recommendations? Much appreciated.

Mrprez 08-06-2021 09:45 AM

We’ve used these people, they were excellent.

we have used Capri car service to Orlando airport. Used to be about $80 , but now have gone to $125 for two of us. Mustbe better around than that for door to door.

Try Joe, (352) 391-2894. Retired LEO who provides transportation to and from MCO. He'll drive you there at the time you request and will meet your flight when you return; calling ahead to confirm when and where he should pick you up. Hell of a nice guy, great driver and in my experience very dependable.

Have you called Dave's Airport Transportation? Commercially insured and licensed, serving Villages and Leesburg past 4 1/2 years, they come highly rated by clients on NextDoor Neighbor website. They even post their insurance on their business page on NextDoor because they don't use a separate website per the owner, word of mouth and NDN built their business and costs nothing. I've used them the past 3 years, punctual, clean sanitized vehicles and competitively priced, added plus is, they do not add anyone to your car, just you and your family or yourself. 352-223-4696

I'm curious who you consider "the big boys"? And what company would require a two hour wait at the return end?

Workman Transportation picks up at MCO every hour or 90 minutes, depending on the time of day. Also, if you get off your plane early (which is not uncommon) you can call them. If the bus is downstairs they will wait for you to get outside and you can take the earlier bus. Just in case this helps ...

Creative Concierge service from MCO to Lake Sumter area past Monday was great, the driver was communicative & at MCO right on time. Private car, in my case I was traveling alone, fee (without tip) $75 with an additional $20 surcharge if traveling late-night. Phone the company to make arrangements, they bill upon booking & if you need to change your plans your $ remains in their kitty for next time. I would assume the same quality service is provided for Villages-to-MCO.

I don't know what he cost is now but it used to be $40/person each way. I never liked the idea of being picked up 3-hours before my flight and having to wait 2-hours at the airport. Also, there are the pick-ups and drop-offs each way. I rent a car and drive to the airport on my own schedule. The cost was about $100 each way. The extra money is worth it.

Steve’s Transportation

Used Steve number of times, recently picked me up at 3:00 AM
Thank goodness he suggested strongly that that was the correct time to meet my 7:15 departure

Capri transportation. Great company

Keketcik 08-07-2021 09:44 AM

Penny Trogden will pick you up and drop you at your door. She is fantastic with communication and safety. I believe the current rate is $70 (not sure if it matters if there is one person or two). 352-322-6084

Joe Sacco, could you please explain what this comment 'The Best!' refers to? There's no quote in your posting. Thank you.

We're using Dave's Transportation for the first time next month after reading so many positive postings from consumers whom we know and trust. Even so, we'll see....

Thanks or the heads up. I consider Groome and Workman the "big boys" as they have shuttles. I had called Groome and told them what time the plane would arrive, and they basically told me that if I missed the bus one would be back in 2 hours. I checked their schedule and it was 2 hours. They offered no advice, except to say it was cutting it close.

After reading your post, I checked Workman schedule and they are every hour. If my private ride doesn't come through, I'll give them a call. Thanks.

Ben Franklin 08-07-2021 11:18 AM

Thanks everyone. I did call Dave and one other and they were both booked on the day I needed them. I am waiting on a call back to confirm another. I appreciate all of your recommendations.

My question is what type of car are these different services using? I am the world's worse passenger...its a stress thing. Anyway I want to sit in the back and not in some little car. Doesn't need to be a bus. I want to feel like the driver knows how to drive...not just drive fast (hence, my stress) we usually fly into Sanford and have taken the van service. Not the best...driver wanted to put me up front with him, I said no, couldn't do...he got mad and proceeded to slam doors and act like a jerk.
Trust me, I don't want to be that difficult passenger, but I truly have issues....oh well

Ps....dont turn around to talk while you drive..watch the road!!!
I know, I'm hopeless.

Ginsanders 08-07-2021 12:05 PM

Rayne's Limo and car service, we have used him numerous times, and for family. He is very, very good. Highly recommend. $85 a trip plus tip, no matter how many.

Most car rental companies will not do a one way rental without charging a large dropoff fee. Almost double the rental fee.
:ohdear::ohdear:

JEM0715 08-07-2021 02:34 PM

But, Rayne's can't prove they have commercial insurance, that's why the rate is so cheap, not for my family members. I want a commercially insured legal service. Just like I see a couple other (1-car) names being thrown out there, the reason their so cheap is, they are not registered businesses with the state of Fla., henceforth there "auto insurance" won't cover a thing when they have an incident because that person was using it for commercial purposes.

kpd3062 08-07-2021 03:13 PM

Have you considered?

We had a problem finding someone to drop us off at 5am and pick us up at midnight recently. So we decided to use one of the park and ride type places around the airport. It went so smoothly that we will probably do it all the time. We used Park bark and fly ( but there are a bunch of them)The shuttle was there within a minute of parking our car and on return they were waiting when we arrived. Great option for someone who can drive. I think it’s about $7 a day. Even for our 11 day trip it was still about half of a shuttle price for the two of us. Good luck.

PS- the bark in the name is there because they can help you find a pet boarding place .

Velvet 08-07-2021 04:14 PM

I use Capris. Last time I used them they picked me up at MCO, took me over to SouthAudi waited for hubby to pick up a new battery for our car then brought us to Mallory Sq. Cost about $150 before tip I think. Since I have discovered them I have never used anyone else.

And all these one car services everyone's suggesting, not one of them have COMMERCIAL INSURANCE! Wow, and you put your name as a recommendation. That's someone's family you're asking to travel with a non-insured individual. Just as any of them if you can see their commercial insurance policy and see what happens???? Their private auto insurance even with a rideshare addition is not LEGAL to be permitted for the airports, it requires a million dollar comm. policy everyone. Why do you think these individuals are cheaper then the legal services, they don't have the overhead costs.

Mrprez 08-08-2021 06:04 AM

Baloney, the one I recommended is not a one car service and they are fully insured and licensed to operate at all of the airports.

I wasn't referring to your recommendation about Creative Concierge, yes they are a licensed and commercially insured service, so is Capri and Dave's Airport Transportation. Now, as for those others, they are not even registered with the state of florida div of corporations like the 3 services mentioned here are as livery services. That's what I was referring to.

Ok. If they are operating commercially at the airport without a license, it is just a matter of time before they are caught and possibly fined.

DeanFL 08-08-2021 07:53 AM

.
.
Traveled twice in the last 2 months.

Took Villages Van once - and PERFECT.
Took Groome the next time - and PERFECT.

I'm sure folks have their 'horror stories' but for us, recently, either VV or Groome performed wonderfully. Both had great communication from their office/drivers. Right on time and very minimal time waiting for their van at MCO. Door to door - for their pricing, can't be beat.

IMO we are VERY lucky here in TV to have choices of airport transporation, esp the door<>door at a very reasonable cost. Used to drive ourselves/park at MCO. No more - not worth the hassle and worries.

You are EXACTLY right since they've installed plate readers looking for those consistent illegal services, lol! Matter of time.

Mrprez 08-08-2021 10:33 AM

Not to mention the legal carriers are very protective of their territory and will rat out an illegal operator in a heart beat.

I personally wouldn't let my grandchildren ride in a vehicle not properly insured.

We will be using Dave's this week for outgoing and returning. They seem very professional so we will see how our experience goes and may report back.

Who in their right mind would? I don’t get your point as it relates to my statement.
