Some lessons. Locks? Unlike the property owner a thief does not care if they damage your newly painted walls.

Jewelry store? How could they not have spent a couple of bucks for a camera? Two skinny guy and a fat guy? They should split up or pick up a villager. One skinny guy?
One skinny guy and a fat guy. One skinny guy with and old guy or gal? You/we could go right past them and not know it.

Seriously, dark skinned in a description is just stupid political correctness. Either say or don't say what their description is, but this is ridiculous. That said, sorry to hear this, we've already done business there, it's a nice jewelry store.

PugMom 08-06-2021 02:02 PM

'dark-skinned' could mean anyone, not specifically black.

asianthree 08-06-2021 02:05 PM

The ski mask is a dead giveaway. However my granddaughter in the height of summer has dark skin. But she wasn’t in TV this week.

Velvet 08-06-2021 02:06 PM

Maybe on the camera that was the best they could make out?

I thought there was security cameras all around squares> You would think there enough cameras around brownwood to identify the vehicle? Limited number out at 2AM.

vintageogauge 08-06-2021 05:50 PM

That's one problem with having an alarm on a building with windows. They can smash and grab quite a lot before the police arrive, I think ADT advertised an average of 5 to 6 minutes. I haven't paid attention but I wonder if any of the stores in Villages retail spaces have those sliding security doors inside that they would close at night. Maybe they are not allowed as they might give the wrong signal to potential buyers here. If that's the case I would think there will be more of the same happening around town in the future now that they seem to have gotten away with this one. My guess, and it's only based on a feeling that I have is these 3 are not from the area, maybe from Orlando, Tampa, or the coastal areas and that they are experienced.

They were wearing gloves. Honestly I'm surprised they could tell skin color at all. It looks like they were covered from their hoodies to their shoes, plus masks and gloves.

Very possible, but all /we/ can go by is what's in the report. And based on the report, there's no reason why any of /us/ should be jumping to conclusions, or wondering how someone or cameras can tell what color they are. We don't have access to enough information to even ask that question.

I doubt that this was conjecture. Would people be reluctant to think they were white?

I'm no Kojak, but I suspect they got the descriptions of the 3 suspects from a store security camera...

They could guess at skin color. I suppose the jewelry store would have some lights on inside at night. A good defense lawyer though would have a field day with these descriptions. Even a bad one probably.

Well, those are simply the "published" descriptions...

Pedantics again...fine.

It seems like. One might consider the possibility that. Perhaps.

"Looks like" is an expression, in addition to a statement of visual observation. Blind people use this expression sometimes to express that perhaps some evidence provided about a thing, could lead one to believe a particular possibility.

Maybe audio was the clue to the skin color. World of Beer now this.

I hope Law Enforcement & those in charge of TV Security are able to brainstorm something to discourage more of this and prevent TV from becoming targeted as "easy pickins' " for crime. Not sure what that may be, given how brazen thieves are becoming nationwide. I do recall that when I once took a late-night 'Workman' transport from MCO to Brownwood about 1am, the majority of the Square was VERY dark. Just a thought but maybe at minimum some extremely bright motion sensor floodlights on the Squares' streets with Security personnel monitoring via the safety of indoor cameras so they do not risk being shot in a confrontation?

I hope I am overreacting.

I feel awful for this store owner. If it's the same store I visited last year, it was stocked with beautiful new inventory and irreplaceable estate pieces on consignment that these thieves can only sell for pennies on the dollar.

My question is, what would the police have done if they had arrived during the robbery?

Sabella 08-07-2021 05:06 AM

Because the Morse family owns the local paper , crime might deter people from moving here.

Sometimes common sense and real danger have to trump politically correct directives. And ignore some of these new "directives" and this new "religion" that tells us what to think and what to say.

I don't care what color a person is that has the lack of morals to steal things from someone's legitimate and ethical business. I care that they are caught and stopped. If they have a description tell it and show it and distribute it throughout the State.

That is pretty ballsy robbing a jewelry store that is literally a stone’s throw from the police station.

Luggage 08-07-2021 05:35 AM

Interestingly, I really don't remember ever seeing police cars Cruise area. And if you get into a jewelry store without the alarm bells ringing and no response I think the insurance company should not pay off

Luggage 08-07-2021 05:36 AM

Maybe baggy pants?

If I was a police person, and strong, I would say STOP. I would then say I will TAZE you if you don't stop and then If they tried to run away I would tackle them and lay on them so they wouldn't...............

Never mind.

I thought fine jewelry stores had large safes where the good stuff was stored during closed hours. I think that’s why the jewelry is displayed on trays that can conveniently be moved. Maybe I’ve seen too many movies.

Loosey goosey security?

True. Would you like them to just make up a description.? Dark skinned is all that could be confirmed. So, thats all you get. I guess some people watch too much TV and think the pieces are put together and the suspect is arrested within an hour. Lol

Two suspects are being sought in the theft of liquor from Winn-Dixie at Pinellas Plaza.

The two suspects entered Winn-Dixie liquor store on July 26, according to the Wildwood Police Department. The suspects walked to the back of the store and entered an employee-only stock room, where they grabbed one case of 12 750ml bottles of Hennessy Cognac and one 750ml bottle of Avion Silver Tequila before running out of store. They ran into the parking lot, entered a possible Black Chrysler 300, and fled the area.

The police provided the following descriptions:

Suspect 1 – Skinny, dark skinned male, facial hair, wearing a dark colored shirt with a light-colored pattern on it, and dark colored shorts.

Suspect 2 – Heavy set, dark skinned female, wearing a light-colored shirt and short and a light-colored hair cap/net.

If you have any information regarding the identities of these suspects, contact Lt. O’Neill at (352) 661-6192."

This article has clear photographs of the suspects. They didn't copy.

I think it was bad men smashing the glass door with an AX. That is what I blame.
