Golf priority renewal

So we get a letter (snail mail) showing our expiration of golf priority in a couple weeks and the process of the payment. Aside for the amount being ridiculous they want you to A. Show up at the office, B. mail a check, C. call with a credit card. I opt for C. The lady I talked to could barely understand me (volume at her end) and after changing her hookup I read her the number four digits at a time. Yea. It worked. She said I will mail you a receipt (again, snail mail). Now, we can conduct just about every transaction anywhere quickly and efficiently on line with credit, debit, or check draft. Even the darn county tax office can collect your money that way. Why for Pete's sake (no offense to Pete) can't the golf renewal process catch up with the times? GEEZE

The amount is "ridiculous"????? Playing 2x/week covers your entire cost

If someone is so put out by the three payment options given, don't become a priority member, pay the full resident green fees, don't participate in men's/ladies day, and sit at the bottom of the heap for tee time reservations. Your choice. Yet another first world problem here in TV:1rotfl:

Processing Fee !!

There is a "Processing Fee" any time you use plastic. The Villages will NOT pay the fees.

Wrong, you can pay with a CC

Golfer222 08-16-2021 12:46 PM

question- thinking about getting priority membership for wife and I-how do you calculate playing 2x per week paying for itself?

2 person priority at all 12 courses costs $925. Depending on time of year, you save $8-12 /round, so lets just round it to $10. 2 people, 2 rounds/week ,52 weeks/year=208 rounds = $2080 in savings, so with the new rate structure, looks like only 1 round/week will do it.

Look at the difference in rates between priority resident and resident....say $9/round.

Your Membership: Priority membership is, say $750. 750/9 = 83 rounds to breakeven for the year.

The Double membership is only $925......just over 100 rounds by both of you.

Golfer222 08-16-2021 12:58 PM

Thank you

Billy1 08-17-2021 05:17 AM

Remember your trail fee if you have been paying a trail fee is included. Subtract the trail fee from the cost.

Don’t forget to discount the $141 annual trail fees included, and you get priority tee times and use of CC pools!

mike234 08-17-2021 05:24 AM

and, if you want to save even more, just undertip the hardworking, waiters and waitresses, like many of cheapskates that live here do...... ask any bartender you know about the people who leave practically nothing...

Billy1 08-17-2021 06:01 AM

Low tipping does not attract better workers. The best workers go where the tips will pay rent and child care.

It used to be a better deal for priority members. Last year, for 27 weeks, the Priority golfer saved $17.00 per round and for the rest if the year is was $12.00 per round. Priority golf, with tax is about $800.00 for one person, so deducting $140.00 for trail fees, the cost is $660.00. $17.00x27 = $459.00 and $12.00x25 = $300, for a total of $759.00. So, one round per week more than paid for the Priority Golf package. This year the difference is much less, only $9.00 difference this summer, so many more rounds required to justify the cost.

I have always said that golfers are the biggest cry babies in the Villages.

Villages Kahuna 08-17-2021 06:28 AM

With all that’s going on around us and in the world, renewing a golf priority membership doesn’t seem to qualify for a spot very high on a list of problems. But if that’s OP’s biggest concern, IMHO he should feel very blessed.

I play twice a week. Let's say I actually try to play twice a week (2nd wave) and have a year priority membership. For the past 4 years I have averaged playing just over 80 times a year with the highest year being 84.
For simple math $800 for membership divided by 80 is $10 / round.
We have 2 seasons.
The 5 month winter season I save $7/round
The 7 month summer fall season I pay $3.00 / round more than the resident fee. Check the sheet. The $31.03 really costs $41.00.
Yea you get better tee times but do you need them really. If it's the money a 6 month membership makes more sence.

Bill1701 08-17-2021 06:54 AM

At least they let you know your membership was expiring. For trail fees and non-owner ID cards you don't find out until after they expire and you try to use them.

banjobob 08-17-2021 06:54 AM

Just as the “drunks” drink only water when out for dinner, to cut down on the check amount , All for me , None for thee.

It depends on whether your talking 9 or 18 holes. Also, which wave you play, as there are three different waves during the day with three different pricing structures. During the summer, afternoon wave for nine holes saves you $3.50 for the round with a priority membership. Jan thru April this year would have saved you $8.50 for nine holes (double those amounts for 18). Next, depends on whether you are paying for a single or double membership (although you did indicate a double), and how many courses you want access to. Also, you have to keep in mind your overall budget for golf. Priority members I know seem to ignore the fact that you still have to pay for playing, even if it's discounted. If you take into account, both the first and latter part of the year rates, a priority member is paying an average of $17 for nine holes of golf in the afternoon. A non-member is paying an average of $23 for nine holes, afternoon wave. In addition to that, you now have to pay the sales tax, which adds a couple of bucks, and you also have to add the cost of the priority membership itself. The other thing you need to consider is weather permitting and if you end up with an injury or something else that restricts you from playing. I have a friend with a priority membership who hurt his foot and has not been able to play for the last six months. I've been told there are accommodations for that, but nevertheless, he had to pay the priority membership fee up front (which is about the same amount I pay annually for auto insurance). Lastly, I've been here six years and have never had an issue getting tee time on a championship course without a membership. Not so with executive courses during the height of the season, so I tend to play more championship courses in the winter months. Personally, I did not find the priority membership worth it for me, but that's something you have to determine for yourself....and that's all I have to say about that.

What’s the benefit of adding pool membership to priority golf membership?

Priority comes with the pool membership. We have our own pool and have to pay for the pool membership which is never used.

Yes, it does come with Priority membership. If you are married and only you play golf, you can go to the Country Club pools, but your spouse cannot unless you pay the extra $80.00 for the additional pool membership for them.

Yes it does. I renewed my husband's priority on Tuesday and the pools are included along with the trail fees for executive golf.

PJackpot 08-17-2021 08:20 AM

You get access to pools at the following country clubs which other residents do not have access to is the way I understand it.

Cane Garden Pool / open 9am – sunset.
Evans Prairie Pool / open 9am – sunset.
Glenview Champions Pool & Jacuzzi / open 9am – 9pm.
Havana Pool / open 9am – sunset.
Mallory Hill Pool / open 9am – sunset.
Nancy Lopez Legacy Pool & Pool Bar / open 9am – sunset.

Which begs the question, are the golf fees here in TVs are over priced?

My husband does not think it is overpriced. He likes the convenience of taking his golf cart to any of the championship courses. He enjoys most of the courses. We moved here because of the large choice of championship courses.

Might want to check that statement. The company has to pay the CC company a processing fee, not the purchaser...

Not even close. Right now, in summer rates, it is $8 LESS for priority members, not the ridiculous $3 MORE posted

If I remember, it is $12 less in winter.

Somebody better "check the sheet":1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Nothing to "check", you can pay your priority membership with a CC. That's a FACT, nothing to debate, nothing to challenge, nothing to argue about. I've done it for 7 years straight. Period. GEEZ!!!

I paid with a CC on Monday.

Flyers999 08-17-2021 12:27 PM

I got a membership for my wife and I for the first time last September. I play the Championships once a week, but my wife didnt use it at all. She just played executive with me.
What if I just want a membership for myself, how does the trail fee work? Do I need to pay the $141 to the same place I buy the membership? Or is it less than that and where do I pay?
