I found this in a box in the garage. Never have seen it before.

It’s a bit set for a Dremel tool.

Are the bits tapped out of the base, or do they unscrew? They seem to be only removable with pliers

Don’t know, maybe a knock off set.

villagetinker 09-05-2021 07:28 PM

I have 3 Dremel tools and hundreds of bits, and have never seen anything like this, no idea what this is. Maybe a better picture and some more info, are these removeable, are the ends we can see sharp or rough like sand paper, etc.

It is interesting that the local expert world is at a loss. My my.

OrangeBlossomBaby 09-05-2021 09:21 PM

It looks like someone was playing around with scrap metal and dremel bits and made a funky piece of art, or maybe a key to some weird kind of steampunk lock. It's a neat looking doohickie, whatever it is.

Edited to add: Actually the more I look at it, the more it appears to be the back of an old American Airlines pin that someone just fitted with dremel bits for the sake of weird art.

Chi-Town 09-05-2021 09:54 PM

Mandibular staple.

pcoccionitti 09-06-2021 04:55 AM

If they unscrew off the base they are known as tips for Digital or dial indicators

Dental tools...:clap2::clap2:

l2ridehd 09-06-2021 05:21 AM

It’s a lawn dethatcher made to attach to a lawn mower blade. Should be 2 of them to work. You mount one on each end of a lawn mower blade, set it up high and it will dethatch the lawn.

Looks like pyrography/ wood burning bits?

rlcooper70 09-06-2021 06:26 AM

Could be dental bits from an older lab tool .... that's my guess.

geobet 09-06-2021 06:50 AM

My hubbie is says it looks like bits for working on leather.

richs631 09-06-2021 07:03 AM

Petersweeney 09-06-2021 07:10 AM

If you don’t know what it is you have to keep it just in case - I hate when that happens- I have a box full of them in the garage-

dennisgavin 09-06-2021 07:16 AM

seetshaw 09-06-2021 07:32 AM

There are things available that help in the making of jewelry by bending and shaping the wire. Could this be that?

Yes, they’re Dremel tools! They won’t do you any good unless you have the Dremel tool.

Heytubes 09-06-2021 08:30 AM

Cleats for track or golf shoes maybe.

HRDave 09-06-2021 09:13 AM

olemon 09-06-2021 10:19 AM

Not a great photo but they look like Dremel tools

HRDave 09-06-2021 10:23 AM

Wire Bending Jig

I’m guessing a technician left his wire bending jig for terminating telephone or Cat 5 cable in your box.

To me, it looks like it could possibly be a store display, where a Dremel, Ryobi, etc. tool could be fit to the rod in the back so that the available bits are shown with the tool itself.

Just a guess. It could be a doohickey instead as others have suggested. :)

jimmy o 09-06-2021 12:02 PM

What is it

I’m pretty darn sure it’s accessory bits for a sewing machine.

Likely it came in from an overlap from a parallel universe.

Taltarzac725 09-06-2021 01:07 PM

I have seen one of those before but cannot pull up the memory just yet.

pacjag 09-06-2021 02:41 PM

Not sure what they are but they do not appear to be Dremel tool bits because I do not see any teeth or grinding surfaces on any of them.

Topspinmo 09-06-2021 03:07 PM

Rotary files and adapters for disks. The only thing weird is the home made plate to mount them while in storage. If the detach then they are useable, if not display.

CMM probing tips

joseppe 09-07-2021 05:34 AM

Its a Wiskenliber Autoblitzer Filter key. Used on the very expensive model 6X1R with the hydraulic cantonlever donglemover. When it comes time to change that filter someone's gonna be looking for that!

positiveinlife 09-07-2021 06:34 AM

dial indicator tips is the right answer, common tool in manufacturing.
