Lizard rode on my windshield today
Check out what happened to us today while driving our car!
Lizard Gets A Ride On My Windshield - YouTube |
The Worlds Record for us was from The Hysterical Section up to Sammy Joe's near route 42 then all the way to Brownwood. He hopped off while we were at Dunkin Donut's down yonder. He liked the way I drove I guess, he kept saying go faster, please.
Little bugger just wouldn't give up. |
Those little guys are great to have around the house. We have two living in our lanai/birdcage (Big Red and Blondie) and they keep the place bug free.
|
Hope he got some bugs for his effort. From the size of his stomach he looked like he’s doing well for himself.

Our friend had one on his windshield that rode all the way to his house. He even tried the windshield wiper trick, but the anole held on. When they got to their driveway, our friend didn't want to pull in to the garage because he didn't want the anole in there. Well the lizard jumped off the car and started to head into the garage anyway. Our friend jumped out of the car and ran into the garage to scare the lizard away. Well, that ole senior citizen wasn't going to scare a lizard, and the anole kept going. Our friend then decided to stomp his foot to scare the lizard. At which point the lizard had the last laugh. It ran up our friends leg inside his pants. There was a lot of yelling from our friend, and a lot of laughing by our friends wife, as our friend pulled his pants down while standing in the driveway trying to get the lizard off him. We will never ever forget that story!!!!!

Anoles.
They are funny and do eat a lot of bugs, especially the roaches ( you will be surprised how large a roach they can eat). My biggest gripe, Can someone inform those little boogers that my front walk is not an Orgy palace. Walked out front one day there was 8 couples doing the naughty. Fact, when they are getting busy. they do not move. I was petting them, taunting them with bugs. Nope, stationary. I have pics and everyone cracks up. |
If they become a nuisance, use a shop vac to scoop them up, then I drive them to Fenney

Bad driving
The car is all over the road. Pick a lane. And use your signal.

Sorry, I'm not a Hindu but it did look like my Uncle Fred who died 25 years ago.

Two on your lanai? I foolishly, when we first moved in saw one and put out water. Truth, they come and go. I've seen them hide under the aluminum, whatever it is called, under the screen door. They are likely Oreoles and they have the ability like camellions to change color. The ones with the red flap under their chin are males looking to attract females. |

Why didn't he just pull into a driveway and let the little thing off. A form of animal cruelty.

There are some animal rules of the road (unofficial, I think) that we do our best to follow.
Always stop for any animal that is crossing (or standing around in) the road. Ducks, snakes, Sandhill Cranes, turtles, etc. Help (if possible) animals that can't get up over the curb. This is mostly turtles and sometimes snakes. Be sure to use powerful handi-wipes after as some may carry salmonella Use your emergency flashers but if someone honks at you feel free to give the one fingered salute I'm adding - pull over and debark (is that a word?) any lizard or ? that is getting a free ride. I do draw the line just above love bugs, screw them! |

We have several living under the hedge near our front door. A big male (well, "big" in lizard terms) with a colorful red dewlap which he was displaying prominently a few months back, a female, and numerous little ones. The big male was afraid of me at first but now will just stand there within arm's reach. Not tame, but... My thought is that as long as I know lizards are living under my hedge, I can be pretty certain that snakes aren't. |
Lizards and black racer snakes are both in my yard. I am not fond of these largish and longish deaf black snakes. My snake training includes a powerful but variable speed blower that is plugged in on an extension. If they get too close for my comfort level, they get blown away. Happens once every 4 months approximately.

I'm not about to pull over in the middle of the road to let off this lizard. I'm a big believer in the saying, "no good deed goes unpunished."

I would of turned off to let the little guy off. It upset me to watch. Was waiting for the driver to turn in somewhere. But that never happened! Poor little guy. Plus , what a distraction when your driving.
