Some kind of heaven
You know-the movie about life in the villages? It was depressing and not accurate simply because 130k people wouldn't move there to be miserable. The 24 year old director must have something against old people. The guy living out of his van got lucky but he never took care of business in his lifetime like the others did.
I'd welcome any comments as I've been looking to at least vacation there for a winter month. |

Actually, I was going to watch it but watched the preview first and said "forgetaboutit." I have found that the previews to movies usually show the best parts, and this one must not have a good part, let alone a best part. Not interested.
As far as I am concerned, there are way too many folks that WANT to move here, that a few that don't know what they want really don't matter to me. Right now, houses are being sold the same day as listed, so the way I figure it, if you snooze you lose. |

The Van in the movie is back. I didn't see the man who owns the Van but it's the Van for certain.
In the back parking lot of Orange Blossom. He was a nice guy to tell you the truth. He just had no business being at the pool. He wasn't doing NOTHING else wrong so I didn't call on him. We don't do that, in my earlier life we didn't anyway. I glad I didn't rat him out. |

Old Old news, this was hashed over months ago.

This has been discussed months ago.
Some Developer Lusters think its about the Villages. Its about people adjusting to retirement and loss. |
TV is a wonderful place to live.

We have lived all over the place, 18 +/- moves (this is our second house in TV). Unless life throws us a curve ball we're staying put here in TV. Good luck with your move. |

Did you actually see the entire film? It was just a very small sampling of only a few people and in the end even the most “dissatisfied” character was enjoying herself and dancing at the evening shows.
Try and remember The Villages was just a hint many years ago of what it is today. It started with manufactured homes and a few courses. Just like times have changed very much since this movie so has the Villages. |
It’s a story of humanity that could’ve been told in any city of over 100,000 people. He used The Villages because of contrast. It’s a great Indy film that has it’s place. I personally use it to discourage people I don’t like from moving here.

People are so sensitive about this movie. It was a true story about what? Three or four people? It didn't make The Villages look bad at all, unless you have a victim mentality.

Don’t wast your time watching this POS, it doesn’t remotely represent the true Villages.
|
The film maker and his backers had an agenda to smear The Villages IMHO.

Oh geez

I didn’t see the movie but there is a term called geographic transfer which is used to.describe people who move for many reasons such as depression, divorce , alcoholism is a big one ,they think if they move or keep moving things will get better but they usually don’t . The poster who said that using the villages background with all the good things was to show how some people struggle even in a wonderful place like this .I do wonder more about people who see an on screen credit for Soros a man who invests generously in independent films and sees a conspiracy of a political hit job against Republicans in the villages. Again I have not seen the movie many people I know who saw it thought the villages looked like a wonderful place and this was a story of 4 people who could be living anywhere

That being said, we watched the movie just the other day. I did not feel it was a movie about The Villages, but stories of humans living. The movie picked fringe characters and that location to get rating. I was very angry with the van guy and how he talked proudly about preying on the women. His kind are everywhere and lonely women will always fall for it. The couple, was very unusual no matter where they lived. The single woman, her story is played out in every town. I hope she sold her house recently and made enough money from it to happier fields. Unfortunately, i feel her life will be unfulling no matter where she ends. She seemed (just from the movie) to have what i call "i can't catch a break and the world is against me" mentality. No one wants to be with a sad, "the world did me wrong" person because they suck your soul dry. You can be poor and still have a generally positive attitude. Don't let the movie make you feel like it put a bad mark on The Villages. Anyone who is not going to move there after the movie wasn't worth having. |

It was horrible my kids came in town and said let’s watch it. We were all upset because it had nothing to do with the Villages just three miserable people. It was horrendous.
