What are you drinking?
At my house it’s vodka and bourbon (not together that would be disgusting). Absolut or Three Olives for the lady and anything from Evan Williams to Knob creek for me. Also keep a bottle of Tennessee whiskey in the bar. I am surprised with the news reports of coming spirits shortages that the prices have remained consistent. What’s in your glass?

Water, coffee or tea. Anything with alcohol in it is poison to me, I'm highly allergic.
|
Tea, water, orange juice, plumsmart, since pandemic occasionally little fireball mixed drink when I can’t sleep. Hard liquor taste like kerosene to me. Beer blows my up and give me headache. Wine to sour for me, I have hard enough time getting down the plumsmart beings they changed the formula.

We have 3 or 4 bottles of wine ready to pour. We use a system that only punctures the cork with fine needle. Keeps wine perfect for up to a year, so don’t have to waste a $50 bottle of wine, because just can’t finish, or need more than one variety for a dinner.
|
Most nights, we enjoy a bottle of wine. Usually, I buy it by the case from Naked Wines. Occasionally, we will drink mules instead, that is if the new arrivals haven’t bought all the Gosling ginger beer. Once in a great while, we will drink Knob Creek or Baileys ( for my wife). Being a former home brewer, I enjoy a nice beer once in a while. Have gotten away from beer as it tends to cause bloating for me.

I had just begun dating my wife (Thai immigrant), living up in Duluth, MN at the time. We were talking about going out for dinner. I hadn't known her long so I suggested a restaurant where I knew the drink service was first-rate. "Oh, I'm allergic to alcohol" she said. "It makes my face numb and I can't talk right". |
I find a well rested bottle of Fresca, properly cooled of course, is the idea accompaniment for most meals. It pairs well with peanut butter, crunchy, with jelly or marmalade. For some meals, as you certainly know, Diet Coke with or without caffeine is preferred by many. It does enhance the Buffalo wings.
For more casual occasions, Lipton citrus diet iced tea is an excellent option. I always have several bottles ready to pour. |
Red wine, Coors light, and Malibu Rum.

We had just moved here and I was gathering up stuff to make a batch of wine. Lacking plastic tubing I went to Lowe's and asked if they carried food-grade plastic tubing. The guy looked at me and asked what on earth I'd need food-grade tubing for. I told him it was for winemaking. "Never been asked for that before" the guy said. "Some people come here for things to make whiskey stills out of but that's about all". |
I drink SanPellegrino, one or 2 n/a beers and str8 vodka right from the fridge , maybe I glass of wine when I’m smoking weed and listening to Miles
|
We do drink mostly water but my wife always has wine available and I have Kahlua, Baileys or Mike’s hard lemonade on hand.

?
Rarely enjoy alcoholic drinks these day, so when I do I want it to be something I really enjoy. 18 year old or better, single malt scotch straight up. Other choice is occasionally a straight shot of Suntory whiskey.
|
When we first bought in the Villages we were drinking the “kool-aid”. Now we water down the kool-aid with some reality juice. It’s still a good drink that we enjoy very much.
|
Right now, I'm on my Clamato Michelada kick.
|
I'm on my second long-term wagon ride. Hope to stay moving.

Wet rim of 18 ounce glass. Coat rim with Tajin. Add 4 ice cubes. Add a few good dashes of Tabasco. Add a good squirt of bottled lemon juice. Add a few good dashes of Worcestershire sauce. Pour in beer til glass is about 2/3 full. Fill glass with Clamato (Original, Picante or Limon). You can find the powdered Mexican seasoning Tajin in the international aisle of Publix. Use whatever beer is on hand. I just scored some New Belgium Voodoo Ranger on a BOGO at Publix. Once in a while, I’ll sneak a scant shot of vodka in there too. |
Budweiser makes a Clamato chelada also, very popular in the immigrant and working class neighborhoods of So Cal, easily found in many 7-11's.
FWIW- Michelada is a beer cocktail with a Tajin (Tah-heen) rim and contains many of the ingredients mentioned above by Ecuadog (worcestshire sauce, tabasco etc.). Chelada usually uses just salt and lime. |

I actually had an Aunt Roberta. She enjoyed Southern Comfort when she imbibed which was rarely.
Anyone ever tried this? 4. AUNT ROBERTA CONSIDERED TO BE THE STRONGEST COCKTAIL IN THE WORLD, THIS DRINK CONTAINS 100% ALCOHOL, WITH ABSOLUTELY NO MIXERS WHATSOEVER. GIN, VODKA, ABSINTHE, BRANDY AND BLACKBERRY LIQUOR ARE MIXED TOGETHER IN EQUAL PARTS ARE USED TO CREATE THIS LETHAL MIX. ACCORDING TO ANCIENT FOLKLORE, THE DRINK WAS CREATED BY THE DAUGHTER OF A SLAVE OWNER IN 1800S ALABAMA. ‘ROBERTA WAS SAID TO HAVE FLED HER ABUSIVE HOME BEFORE TURNING TO PROSTITUTION. SHE THEN MOVED ON TO THE MOONSHINE BUSINESS WHERE SHE USED TO SELL THIS DRINK TO HER CUSTOMERS LOOKING TO DROWN THEIR SORROWS.’ GIN: 40 PER CENT ALCOHOL VODKA: 40 PER CENT ALCOHOL BRANDY: 40 PER CENT ALCOHOL BLACKBERRY LIQUEUR: 40 PER CENT ALCOHOL ABSINTHE: 45 PER CENT ALCOHOL From: A breakdown of the 10 most alcoholic cocktails in the world - Would you try them? - Kettle Black Bars My tastes have changed over the years. Back in college we made rum runs to Tillie's liquor store in Palomas, Mexico. Columbus alumni honor 'Tillie,' Dona Irwin Pete's, a bar across the street, while our cars were being loaded, gave us Zombies which were iced tea glasses filled with multiple layers of rum. (Last time I was down there Pete's was gone. I was told the Federales had arrested Pete.) We came back with Bacardi flasks in baskets and gallon cans of Everclear grain alcohol. We mixed the rum with Coca Cola and poured the Everclear into punch. Coors was the beer of choice although I never was much for beer. The Delta Chi Tau fraternity in "Animal House" had nothing on us. Now I enjoy Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons such as Stag's Leap and Bordeaux, especially Chateau Palmer. |
Right now hubby and I are drinking Patron tequila to watch Formula 1. (F1 is in Mexico, Patron is too.) He made his into margarita; blue agave, lime with salt rim and crushed ice and is looking around for a straw to sip it. I’m having a small amount straight as this stuff is goood tequila.
Usually I drink Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, reserve. Hubby prefers bourbon. We drink about once a week…maybe. |

My current and long term poison is Scotch, i have several bottles of top shelf, and several bottom shelf that I use for mixing.
|
Thank you for asking. In my personal glass you will see either Absolute and Kahlua with shot of Bailey's Irish Cream; OR Patron Anejo with Triple Sec and little bit of mixer. Either way, both are my favorites for year.
|
Usually, Captain Morgan and ginger ale (preferably Vernors), but lately Vodka/tonic/lime. Always have beer in the fridge too
