Town Squares and Food
Wondering if it’s ok to bring a picnic dinner to any of the squares between 5-9pm? Are there any official or unofficial rules prohibiting the consumption of food while the entertainment is ongoing?
|
Coolers are not allowed "on" the square. Spanish Springs has some tables with umbrellas set up outside of the back of MVP where one could bring a picnic and cooler and still be able to see the stage. You would be facing the back of the stage, but could still enjoy the music.
|
I see people eating there all the time
Some with coolers |
I've seen people "tailgating" with their golf cart and camp chairs when parked "around" the actual square. No one seemed to be concerned about it...

The announcement says no outside refreshments allowed inside the squares.
Beverage Policy Our liquor license is limited to the Town Square where you purchase your drink and only to beverages distributed by our bars. Any consumption of alcohol outside of these limitations is in violation of local laws and ordinances and is subject to enforcement by local authorities. |

Is it only the actual square, that is roped or fenced off, where the dance floor/seating band stands is? Or does it include all of the surrounding area, parking shops, etc? |
Inside the Square will be decided by the Judge! Plead Ignorance and you may get the Electric Chair! The older you are, the less excuse you have
|
the square is self defined...it is the square formed by the roads surrounding the stage area. common sense...also any drinking outside that area or from outside restaurant/bar seating is illegal outside the "square" and is considered drinking in public.

Well that certainly cleared things up... |

I’ll go on a limb and say the LAST thing the sheriff or cops are enforcing is a 65 year old with a vodka tonic from home and a ham sandwich.

I am really ashamed of all you guys I believe in drinking in public is okay are you trying to transition to New Orleans? What is really astounding is that you were going to the home driving your car or cart with liquor in your system and you know some of you will have accidents afterwards.

Depends on the signs on your golf car.

I guess you never heard of a "designated driver"... My wife doesn't drink often, and if I do, she drives... |

Had a friend that was told by a policeman that he could not drink alcoholic beverages while sitting IN the cart at the square. He was told that he could bring a lawn chair and sit on the sidewalk. Was told Open alcoholic beverages in any type of motor vehicle is prohibited by law. Gave him just a verbal warning.

Go ahead and have your picnic in the square.....it's OK.. just watch out for the picnic ants.:popcorn::popcorn:

They are referring to alcoholic beverages. They want you to buy from them. As far as water or food, I never had a problem. I often sit in the entertainment area having my Kilwins ice cream and have even had people get up near me to come back having a Kilwins cup or cone in hand!!

Funny you people mention the squares.
6 years ago we rented down here for 4 months and went the squares at least once a week. Now living here for 5 yrs. and we could care less about the squares. Over crowded with big butt dancing loonies with purple hair and food/drinks are expensive. No thank you |
Michael!
