TV turns itself on and off

We have a 2021 Samsung TV and our WIFI company is Infinity. Yesterday when we turned off the TV using the Samsung remote it would turn off then turn on with a polka dot screen. This repeats itself with a TX11S connect and disconnect constantly repeating itself. We have tried unplugging both the TV and cable box but that only works till we turn off the TV again. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix our possessed TV?
Thank you.

retiredguy123 11-10-2021 12:11 PM

Not sure I understand your explanation. But, typically, you would use the Xfinity on-screen menu to pair the Xfinity remote to your Samsung TV. That will allow you to turn the TV on and off and control the volume using only the Xfinity remote. You shouldn't need to use the Samsung remote at all for most normal operations. The cable box should be left "on" all the time.

It could just be a faulty remote. As suggested above, try using the xfinity remote and take the batteries out of the samsung remote. See if that fixes the issue.

Babubhat 11-10-2021 02:49 PM

Can also try xfinity app

Always at least ...

someone trying to be funny when a serious response is needed. IMO it is not funny and no I don't take myself too seriously, but I don't think being the class clown all the time is appropriate.

Sometimes a smart arse response is just that.

You don't happen to have Alexa or any of those other home automation devices do you? Had a neighbor that just about anytime he said something his TV would go on or off.

Papa_lecki 11-10-2021 05:48 PM

Bet its the remote. Try looking at the settings or resetting the remote

Remove the batteries and then press Power for 8 seconds to reset the remote. Then reinsert the batteries and try to use the remote again. Check out the user manual if you need help accessing the battery compartment

2newyorkers 11-10-2021 06:11 PM

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Our remote is solar so no batteries.

dewilson58 11-10-2021 06:16 PM

I have a 2021 as well.
Have you done software updates??
Have you let Samsung Support take control of your TV remotely to view it?

Jus a couple thoughts

OrangeBlossomBaby 11-10-2021 06:33 PM

Your solar remote absolutely has a battery. It has to be charged. You can charge it either by turning the remote upside down on a flat surface so the solar cell on the back can collect energy from room lights or sunlight, OR you can use the USB-C charging cable to connect with a USB charger.

We also have infinity. May not be your problem but we were using the TV remote and the infinity remote and having strange issues. We called infinity, they adjusted it for us remotely so it is all on the infinity remote and it solved the problems.

There is of course a possibility your TV has failed. Electronic wiz bangs can fail when new. If, you have another TV that you know is OK, you can switch them and see if it solves the problem.

Solar remote? What will they come up with next? First of all we keep the remote in a draw. Also our bedrooms and living-room where the TVs are have blinds or shades. I doubt enough light would hit a remote to charge it. LED lights? Not all LED lights and solar cells are compatible.

A few nights ago at 3 AM, while I was asleep, our TV turned on. It startled me because my wife who sometimes gets up in the early AM hours and watches television wasn't at home, she had been in the hospital for 3 days already. The program that was on was the channel I was watching when I went to bed. In the morning when I got up and turned on the TV it was on a different channel. We have a Samsung TV and Xfinity. This happened once before in the middle of the day.
Freaked me out a bit to wake up to voices in the living room when there shouldn't be anyone. I did investigate with gun in hand, glad nothing serious was happening.

biker1 11-10-2021 10:16 PM

My Samsung TV will turn itself on occasionally. There are a number of possible reasons. Google it.

I have a Texas Instruments TI-30SLR solar calculator that is 40 years old. It has no removable battery, and it still works fine.

No outside light is required. LED lights will keep it charged.

Our LG does almost the same thing. First thing I tried was settings and looked for auto ON/OFF. Both were set to OFF. TV comes on at various times of day and night. Removing the batteries from the factory remote did not help. It's not connected to a cable box. So when we’re going to be away for a full day I unplug. Lg tech support was no help.

What is this “Infinity “ you speak of. New one on me:popcorn:

We too have a Samsung TV that randomly turns itself on. Tried everything to figure out why. We just live with it.

Try resetting the Samsung smart hub

I have a Samsung TV... bit older than a 2021 model but it frequently turns itself back on to some "Samsung" channel.... I will not be buying another Samsung TV ....

We had a similar situation with our Samsung TV. We would turn it off and it would come back on my itself. We had another issue with a different Samsung TV where it would disconnect from the HDMI and we would have to reset it. Samsung blamed Xfinity and Xfinity blames Samsung.

I am DONE buying Samsung TVs… Go with Sony or LG.

Probably this will not help, but our TV did the same thing. We had a big surge protector on it and it turned out the protector had failed. We bought a new one and all was well. So do you have a surge protector?

Tv on and off

Our LG, the same.
Found that when the batteries in the remote are about gone, the TV will come back on when turned off, the channel guide comes on, etc.
Try putting new batteries in the remote.

Bonnevie 11-11-2021 09:04 AM

happens to me sometimes. I turn it off and it goes off then turns back on. I turn it off again and it sticks.

depending on who was in the movie/show, i'd use that pistol! :1rotfl::boxing2:

I had a similar problem, the TV would go off and on repeatedly. A friend suggested pressing the power button on the TV for 30 seconds. It solved the problem.

Topspinmo 11-11-2021 09:19 AM

I never use the TV remote. Only time I every us it is to change inputs for games or put to back on HDMI 1..

tophcfa 11-11-2021 09:23 AM

As our electronic devices become “smarter”, the less control we have over them and there performance becomes increasingly stupid.

Bigmo93 11-11-2021 09:55 AM

We have a Samsung and Xfinity and we find that like clockwork the TV shuts off once per night. It turns back on with no issue, but we’re back to the basic initial screen.

gbs317 11-11-2021 10:58 AM

Check the AC plug in the wall outlet and the back of tv. Some Samsungs will turn on with a power surge or plug that keeps causing simulated power off/on to outlets. In other words a loose plug.

Diver Man 11-11-2021 10:58 AM

TV auto on

I have seen this happen on Sony, LG, and Samsung TV's. The fix for this on all the TV's was to disable the wake function on the HDMI inputs under settings power management. The HDMI-CEC will allow your devices connected be controlled by your TV remote, but this also allows connected devices to turn on your TV, I had a external speaker that would randomly wake up my Sony TV, a firestick that would wake up my LG, and the cable box for the Samsung. I turned off all the CEC related power management, which is problematic on all TV's, and have not had any issues after doing so. I was beginning to think I had some ghosts that liked watching TV. Lol

Welcome to our new world. It is not stress that kills people it is stress that you can do nothing about. Computers, includes most electronic devices you will do it my way.
You curse at the computer and it says thank you. You try to find a HUMAN sand it goes through the meaningless text again. Eventually it resorts to hanging up on you.

As always, it’s all about money. If we have control over electronic devices, we could prevent them from gathering data that can subsequently be sold to third parties.

Had similar on/off problem with different manufacturer. I resolved the issue by removing the batteries from the OEM remote and used only my Firestick remote, we cut the cord. Somehow I think they were in conflict with each other. No more issue. Good Luck.
