Happy to have Earth Fare Supermarket here

Today we shopped for the first time at Earth Fare (on 441). Everything is organic and no harmful ingredients are permitted in the products that they sell. There were many items on sale including some buy-one-get-one-free specials. There is a prepared food section and a bunch of tables for in-store eating. I'm really glad to have this option. It's a welcome addition to our food choices. (We're vegetarian and they stock many plant based products that we buy.) Give it a try and let us know what you think.

Love it!

spd2918 11-16-2021 07:12 AM

We were there last night.

Honestly, I think it is a marketing racket to claim certain food is "organic." People freely pay a lot more money for food they perceive as better. And the prices at the store were certainly higher, even for the exact same products at Publix.

M2inOR 11-16-2021 08:13 AM

Yes, a welcome addition. Similar to Sprouts down in Orlando, and Fresh Market up on 466 area here in The Villages. As others have noted, a Sprouts is also planned for The Villages.

Nice to have new grocery stores with different food items.

I wish them well.

Looking forward to Sprouts opening, since it will be golf cart accessible. From what I can tell looking at google maps, Earth Fare is on the wrong side of 441 for accessibility?

Not all prices are higher at Earth Fare. Organic, in general, is cheaper at Earth Fare, and other items but you have to pick and chose and especially look for the sales.

My family will be shopping at both.

Have shopped at Earth Fare for years. Meat counter staff is excellent. The grass feed ground round, has the best flavor out of any beef we have bought in any TV grocery including Fresh Market.

We have eaten organic entire lives, from our grandparents mini farm, until our 30s (organic wasn’t a buzz word). Then the 4 local farms on my 13 minute drive to work. All our fruit, vegetables, dairy, and poultry, and beef came from locals. If we grocery shop it’s WF, TJ’s, and Earth Fare. Not going to change a life long habit, just because of a little higher cost.

HeleneGB 11-17-2021 05:55 AM

I agree. Went there abd felt the same.

TheDuke 11-17-2021 06:07 AM

Does anyone know where Sprouts is going to be located?

jack.hunter00@yahoo.com 11-17-2021 06:08 AM

Absolutely horrible place. I bought Salmon there, would not let me smell it , took home, and stunk. No fish should smell like fish. Took back and had a hard time getting a refund from night manager. Was not a Customer friendly person. WILL NOT BE BACK!

I saw a thread re: this a week or so ago. It will be on the corner of 466 and Buena Vista. Hope they make this intersection "safer". The congestion on Parr Drive will be not great as well.

I went and was a little disappointed I think I like Fresh Market better. And I heard we were getting a sprouts (orlando, tampa) and was looking forward to it because we just moved back from north Dallas Frisco and they were great there. I've never been to a store that had that much fresh vegetable and fruits inexpensive and prepared foods

Bill1701 11-17-2021 08:04 AM

Went there a couple weeks ago. I was not impressed.

Janebish 11-17-2021 08:11 AM

I couldn’t wait for the store to open. I was very disappointed at the food that I bought in the freshly made section. I couldn’t even cut the chicken. My main worry is that because the meats are organic and costly, they don’t get sold that quickly. I was very disappointed in what I bought!

Garywt 11-17-2021 12:48 PM

I tend to avoid anything Organic. Also since you can’t get there by golf cart we would not go there.

Funny I never ever go to a supermarket with a golf cart. I switched to the Publix in Trailwinds because golf carts are not allowed at Trailwinds.

Bonanza 11-17-2021 02:24 PM

I stopped at the store to simply see what they had to offer. Yes -- organic reigns there, however, their prices are high on just about everything. The problem I have with organic things is there is no regulation regarding what a company or grower calls organic. Non-organic fertilizers ARE used on what some call organic. When you buy organic something, you have no idea if it truly is organic and the majority of buyers have no clue!

spd2918 11-17-2021 07:01 PM

I forgot to mention I bought shrimp there. They were horrible. Worst shrimp I've ever purchased.

I will be getting all my shrimp from either the guy at the Brownwood Saturday market or the place on 466 east of Morse.

Parking lot much safer. No golf carts zipping behind you as you back out of space. I will shop at Trailwinds and Earth Fare because there are not any carts.

I never go anywhere that the golf cart can’t go. Not sure where Trailwinds is but if golf carts are not allowed I have not been there.

It is not too close to me. I can go to the other Lowes etc by golf cart so that is where we go. Not a fan of Starbucks and Jersey Mike’s but soft serve sounds good.

Jeremiahs is great!

That article you linked is 2 years old. "Full Organic" Hasn't happened. "A lot of organic and non-GMO" has. Google it and look for articles dated 2020-2021.

Bonanza 11-17-2021 11:03 PM

No Golf Carts???

It sounds like you are saying that not having any golf carts in a parking lot is a prerequisite for shopping somewhere regardless of anything else?

Weird, very weird!

Who would purchase a food item after someone else has stuck their face next to it.

When this store opened there were a few comments here regarding the meat case condensation dripping on the meat and no correction by employees. Any updates on this?

There were pools of raw chicken juice. Nasty.

Iwas at Earth Fare twice last week and did not see anything like that. Both the meat and fish we bought were very good.

I agree. Organic simply means "costs more".
