Fading Driveway Paint
Why would a painted and sealed driveway fade? It was sealed last year.
|
If the concrete surface was properly cleaned and prepared before it was stained/painted, and sealed periodically, it should not fade. That is because the stain soaks into the concrete surface. Periodic sealing will prevent erosion of the surface, which can cause fading. So, it sounds like, either the surface was not properly prepared before staining, or the concrete surface has eroded over time by improperly sealing.

Is driveway painting a Florida thing? I don't recall seeing painted driveways elsewhere.

or sun rays go thru sealant like thru a window and fade things
:crap2: |
The other possibility was that real PAINT was used on the driveway, and not the better concrete stains.

Yup

Agreed. It's just too strange for me, but I'm a minimalist...

If you want your driveway painted and sealed the correct way.....use Edison ConCreations
|
I’ve been trying to reach them for over a week but can’t get through as the voicemail is full and hasn’t been cleaned out. I’ll keep trying.

uv resistanr sealer was not used
|
conc stains can be generally water-based in which case edge definition is usually very fuzzy--- true acid stains will change the color of the concrete's ' free lime but still require an uv resistant sealer

You should ask the one who painted or sealed it
|
Our driveway was 'painted' over 7 years ago by "driveways by jay" he uses a Xylene based paint/stain sold by Sherwin Williams. This product holds up very well. There are several driveways on my block that were done before ours (8 years old) to after (around 6 years), and all of these are in excellent condition. Further, this company NO longer seals driveways primarily due to the above mentioned clouding problem.
