Bamboo Bistro and Sweet Tomatoes

Just noticed the Gourmet Club Website shows the Bamboo Bistro (page 1) is now open and has a review already and also shows where Sweet Tomatoes (page 2) is going to be built. Very interesting. This club is always on top of things. :coolsmiley:

Sweet Tomatoes is a very large salad bar with soup, pizza, baked bread, etc.

Should do well in TV.

Bamboo Bistro - Two thumbs up

My husband and I have eaten at Bamboo Bistro twice, and we've been very pleased both times. The selection is very nice (assuming you like Japanese and Chinese food! :) ) and the food is tasty and very "fresh" for lack of a better term. The prices seem very reasonable for the portion size and quality. For instance, my husband had the "Chow Fun Beef" for $10, which was excellent, and we split the leftovers the following night. They serve beer and wine, and have a nice selection of sake. This could become one of our favorites.

Isn't there a seet tomatoes already between Winn Dixie and Publix?

aln 10-30-2010 08:40 PM

That's Snappy Tomato in La Plaza Grande between Winn Dixie & Publix.

I guess Sweet Tomato will be out in front of Best Buy

golf2140 10-30-2010 08:49 PM

That's a shame we can't get to Sweet Tomato by cart. It will cost them some business.

K9-Lovers 10-30-2010 10:22 PM

I love, love, love Sweet Tomatoes.

chuckinca 10-30-2010 10:26 PM

Below is the website for the Sweet Tomatoes we used to go to in Fremont, CA.

Haven't been there for a couple years but remember the cost being more like $7.95 less 10% discount. Usually 2/3 filled with patrons - no waiting but steady flow of customers. Went to it for maybe 15 years, every other month or so.

LOVE Sweet Tomato

We had one close by when we lived in California. They have the BEST cream of mushroom soup ever. Can't wait! We now live in the mountains of New Mexico and there are 4, count em, 4 half way decent restaurants here. We are so looking forward to what TV offers. We are going for the preview on Feb. 23rd and hope to find a place.:highfive:

Taj44 02-04-2011 06:57 PM

We must have hit Bamboo Bistro on an off night. We had spring rolls, one glass of wine each and a wok dish - broccoli garlic sauce and Shrimp for me, broccoli, garlic sauce and beef for my spouse, and bill with tax and tip was around $50, which I thought was a little high.

On the menu, the wok dishes we ordered had a little hot pepper next to them denoting a hot spicy dish. When we tried them, they were so bland, it was unbelievable. I don't think there was any hot pepper on them at all, and little to no garlic. I had to ask for some hot pepper to put on it, and I don't like a really hot dish, just mildly spicy. There were a lot of people there, so the place looked popular, but we didnt' care for the very bland dishes we received, and for what we got , I thought the price was a little high. Like I said, maybe we hit it on an off night. I probably won't go back.

Original post on this is quite old. Have not seen or heard anything new regarding a Lady Lake opening. Corporate website makes no mention of it. Maybe it was only wishful thinking.

It's on their website, they have chosen to delay the opening until June.

Thanks - actually that leather store is not new. They moved down from inside TV area and changed their name. They said the rent was much lower. I bought two very nice leather recliners there in January. Very good prices for the quality of the leather I bought.

Looking forward to Sweet Tomatoes even if not golf cart accessible.

Sweet Tomatoes

On my way back from Home Depot, stopped in, they are hiring now, asked worker when they would open and they said, in APRIL....Hope they are right!
Love that place....Booths, buffet already in...They were working on lights..

K9-Lovers 03-10-2011 04:49 PM

Join their email club and you will get coupons every couple of weeks. Yum -- can't wait.

ladydoc 03-10-2011 05:34 PM

Sweet Tomatoes makes Crispers look very lame. It is a wonderful place and their soups are the best. The cream of mushroom will make you cry, it is so good. Thye do not have it everyday though. The everyday ones were chicken noodle (with huge home made noodles and very large chicken chunks), a vegetable soup and some kind of tomato based soup. They also have pasta, lots of muffins, all kinds of greens and prepared salads. Their baked potatoes were also great. This is the one veggie place the hubs liked. They always ran ads in the Sunday paper in California...with the coupons I think the dinners were $8 something and the lunches $7 something. I have not been to one in many years, so the prices are probably higher now.

SALYBOW 03-10-2011 08:40 PM

A Big Yippie

I do not know how their prices compare to Crispers because it is a different setup. We go to one in St. Louis and it is wonderful. I am soooo excited. It is a buffet type restaurant where you pay one price and can go back as often as you want. We take the grandkids so It probably is reasonable.

chuckinca 03-10-2011 10:41 PM

I drove by it today - looks like an April opening is doable. Don't be fooled by the signage (as I was), it takes up three units of the building (sign is only over one unit) and should be good size - about the same size as the one we used to go to in Fremont, CA. Probably a double line on the entry salad bar (don't fill up on the prepared salads at the front of the salad bar, don't fill up on the salad further down the salad bar - leave room for soup, pasta, pizza, hot breads, biscuits, fruit, and then ice cream with sprinkles. Not bad for under ten bucks.

yummmmmmmmmmmmmm -- Loved it in Walnut Creek, California. Getting it here will be such a treat!

texasfal 03-11-2011 10:21 AM

Chopper 03-11-2011 10:28 AM

I just checked their website. Opening is scheduled for April 4, 2011. Can't wait!

Vidalia 03-11-2011 12:58 PM

Prices at Sweet Tomatoes very good and it is an all you can eat buffet. We just moved to TV from Fort Myers where we have eaten at ST for years. Since moving here, we have been dining at ST in Orlando whenever we go there, love it ! Fresh food, soups, salads, baked potatoes, pasta, breads, muffins and more. We have never brought anyone there that has been disappointed. I just checked their website and it does say they will open April, 2011.

SALYBOW 03-11-2011 06:15 PM
