Can we talk NFL Football for a Minute?

I have a burning question, realizing a lot of TV people are from Detroit and Chicago that support their states football teams, The Bears and The Lions.

They both have losing win and lost records for some time now and I commend you for supporting them hometown teams, BUT WOW.

What does it take for you fans to spend thousands of $$$$$$ every week/season for tickets to religiously support these teams even though you know their not going anywhere in the play offs?

Just Curious Packer fan.

Watching the game now. These two teams are terrible. Bears hold Detroit backed up on 2 yard line and force them to punt. Then special teams miscues totally flip the field.

Hell, I'm a life long Bears fan and I don't even want to watch 2 lousy teams play, especially on Thanksgiving. I don't get why the NFL always has to put Detroit on every Thanksgiving. Screw tradition, give us good teams and games that mean something. This game is meaningless. They both suck!

The NFL is all about $$$$$$, that's why they created a 17-game season which
it takes it toll on injuries throughout the league.

The NFL should have their corporate offices in WDC

fdpaq0580 11-25-2021 01:51 PM

Here is the reason.

After all the turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing, you can have a good nap. And, when you wake up you will feel great because you didn't miss a single thing worth watching.
Turkey Day NFL match ups explained.

I grew up in Wisconsin so by necessity am a Packer fan. However, the last couple years I'm surprised when they win a game. They just don't seem to be the same caliber as some of the top teams. Of course, if Rodgers has a bad day they haven't much of a chance.

Some of you don’t understand , there is no bad game in NFL as long as there is a point spread , game score could be 30/7 with 5 minutes left still lots of eyes on game , I love the NFL and big time college games but would probably love it a little less without the spread, well Happy Thanksgiving everyone it’ll soon be time to head out to dinner no mash potatoes or gravy for me but Inwill have cake seeing I walked 4 miles and road my bike for 3 lol

fdpaq0580 11-25-2021 02:45 PM

26 and 6 the last two years...What more do you want???

Garywt 11-25-2021 08:03 PM

I will just stick with my Patriots. When your team is the best in league history, they are easy to follow.

Might want to check that record from last season and the current standings

kayak 11-26-2021 06:50 AM

Haven't been back to NFL since some of the players were kneeling for the national anthem. Are they still hating the USA at the beginning of each game?

True so many times Rogers had to carry the team

Grew up in the Detroit area and I agree with you. Some traditions should die. I propose the teams that played in the Super Bowl the previous year meet again on Thanksgiving day. I will send a strongly worded letter to Roger Goddell ASAP !!

Suck?. You don't know what suck is until you've been a Deadskins fan after the Joe Gibbs era. So, now we get to watch a decent local team with a great QB..

Last season 9 first string defensive players opted out for covid (well one was "on temporary assignment" in Miami) but they are all back now and they added another pro bowl defensive back/ pass rusher. Then there are the new wide receivers, tight ends and to top it off a rookie quarterback that has the highest completion percentage for a rookie in history. I think they will do just fine. Have won five in a row and are tied for first. Sorry league --- They're BAAAACK :-)

I think they hand out free tickets to appear they still have a following. And they hit the concession stands while there.

Gotta go for da Bears now. The Cubs are not loosing so much anymore. Cheezies. They just don’t understand.

Waltdisney4life 11-26-2021 08:33 AM

I am from Chicago it was a crap game between two Crip teams!!

Singerlady 11-26-2021 08:47 AM

You’ll never understand…you’re a Packer fan. They are OUR TEAMS! We won’t abandon them. It’s called loyalty! What if YOUR team started spiraling down…..hmmmmm….

Singerlady 11-26-2021 08:54 AM

You need to read about the history of how this event started. The Detroit Lions started the tradition and kept it going. Not many other teams wanted to play on Thanksgiving…understandable. If it’s SO bad..don’t watch it. Simple.

I like this idea

davem4616 11-26-2021 09:04 AM

The Lions exist because they're willing play on Thanksgiving Day....which allows the rest of the NFL watching world (that could care less about the Lions) to turn off the tube, sit down and enjoy a nice relaxing holiday meal with the family

at least that's what my uncle told me
:)

Detroit Lions

The Lions have not won much in the past 5 decades, even with great backs like Billy Sims and Barry Sanders. As a long time resident of a Detroit suburb, I can tell you many people in Michigan attribute the problem to mismanagement by the Ford family. Poor choices of coaches and the unwillingness to spend money to build a great team are the root cause.

Personally, I could care less about the NFL. Overpaid ungrateful athletes and their disrespect for the flag overshadow any entertainment value that they can provide me. I find Roger G's latest attempt to win back fans by dressing players and coaches in camo just another example of the hypocrisy. This sentiment is echoed by two Purple Heart warriors in my family.

I love football, just not the NFL. As a grad of The Ohio State University and the Univ. of Michigan, I can tell you that the OSU-UM football rivalry is as good as any in all of sports. Tomorrow at Noon. Go Bucks, crush Michigan and make it 1 for 17 for UM.

charlieo1126@gmail.com 11-26-2021 09:59 AM

How do you explain that all through this kneeling controversy that the military was still advertising on game days and service men were showing up and being honored and the Air Force was still doing fly overs and the army golden nights were doing jumps into games, perhaps they knew it was a false narrative and no disrespect to service men and woman or perhaps they knew and had used some of the many programs that the NFL has created for service men and woman and there families , some of these programs go back over 50 years and that’s the sentiment of this more then one Purple Heart warrior . This thread is ruined now anyway so let’s start hearing the patriotic BS I won’t be listening, FYI how come your watching college games , they were kneeling to , hmmm isn’t that a little hypocritical also ?

This year is going well and last year was the only losing season in over 20 years. Not sure any other team can say that.

HORNET 11-26-2021 11:35 AM

That’s kind of a personal question, some people who came from or preferred a certain team is their own preference. If you now live south, then why do care about the team that you seem quite fond of. Maybe those people that you are so eager to talk down to may have connections, like someone they know is or play or played for the team.

HORNET 11-26-2021 11:36 AM

Can tell you are a Packer fan

HORNET 11-26-2021 11:38 AM

I can remember a lot of times that the Packers were getting their ##### cleaned
