THE VILLIAGES IS NOT THE PLACE TO Retire If You Don't Want a Car OR ARE NOT ABLE TO
Drive,or be on top of your neighbors home, very high monthly frees, don't play golf, cannot stand the heat, very far from malls, alot of traffic in season, renter, not gated communities, restrictions,. Otherwise go their. These are things that you will never here but are very impotant when you buy and home.

First of all, spellcheck is your friend. Secondly, you’re right. The Villages is not for everyone. Third, yes, it’s hot and humid. That’s what Florida weather is like.
I hope you find someplace that suits you. |

If you don’t golf and can’t stand the heat, what made you think you would enjoy living in the largest golf course community in the world in a hot climate? |

Except.......most places in Florida you need to drive to almost everything you need, in TV you can get to most places by golf cart most places in Florida have HOA fees that range from $450 to over $800 per month, here it is about $160. most places in Florida have traffic far worse than here in TV Most places in Florida have deed and or HOA restrictions The only part of that rant that was posted that is true is that TV is not a true gated community---you can live in one but your monthly fee will be in the $800+ range. Oh, did I mention that those gated communities generally have ONE golf course, ONE clubhouse, and all activities are limited to whatever is being run at that clubhouse. For our $160 amenity fee we get 42 executive golf courses, and 13 "championship" courses are here for a greens fee. Over 100 pools, 100 recreation centers of various types and sizes, over 100 miles of MMPs with new dedicated bike and pedestrian paths south of 44, and flowers in the RB's changed out 4x/year. As far as our gates go, they are mainly for traffic control, but they have cameras 24/7 and community watch drives by every house in TV a minimum of 3x/day. If you truly want to avoid everything you listed and live in Florida, may I suggest the middle of the Everglades. Just watch out for 20 foot snakes. But you still have the heat, so the other choice might be Fairbanks , Alaska. |

But yet you still hang out on ToTV for over a year. :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl: |

I have attempted to deconstruct your sentence in an effort to figure out exactly what the word "renter" is communicating. I am clueless. Perhaps you could explain a bit about "renter"? |

That's why you do research before you buy anywhere in any state. Most of the things you list as objectionable about The Villages are true for most planned developments in Florida. Not being able to drive or want to own a car is not a drawback here I have friends who don't drive or own a car but have a golf cart that allows them to go anywhere in the Villages. Don't play golf - there are hundreds of clubs for almost any interest. Far from malls - if you're talking mega malls so is every home outside of the Villages in Lady Lake, Fruitland Park, Summerfield, Wildwood. Traffic - same everywhere in Florida in season and in many places all year. Not gate communities - the Marion County portion of the Villages is gated you can't just push a button to get in. However, as I understand it the home owners in those villages are responsible for road maintenance while the Sumter County portion roads are maintained by the county. Restrictions - every gated community in Florida has them and so do many counties. Many are more restrictive than the Villages. High fees - many places are higher without the amenities we have. Be on top of your neighbor - the property I have here is exactly the same size I had in Long Island but house is bigger. Renter - there are rental units here both apartments and houses. And the big one "cannot stand the heat" - it's Florida if you don't want heat move to a far northern state cause the heat is here to stay. Been here 20 years don't love everything about it but the good outweighs the bad. |
Goodby Joe.

This isn't an airport. You don't have to announce your departure.

Wow, somebody didn't do their homework before committing. But fear not, It's a big country to move around in.

I'm pretty sure the OP doesn't live here nor does he want to live here. He's just listing reasons not to move here from Long Island, NY. Probably he's never even been here. I think his "knowledge" has been formed from reading complaints about this or that on TOTV.
Take the climate. We find the climate here to be preferable to that of south Texas, where it is extremely hot and humid in the summer and can be extremely cold and damp in the winter. Notice to OP: Some people like hot weather. |

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it, unless he wants to rejoin his conversation and explain further. |
Sounds like a bored baiter to me.
Your minority report is duly noted! |
Drink much? That's one of the few things OP left off his post.
|
you got that right

wish i had been given a copy of all the crap you can't do in this dump

First of the month. Time to get more forum traffic for advertising rates. Everyone falls for the troll. Next troll topic will be "Does Costco sell dog poop bags to the 2 ladies in a golf cart with a clipboard who just got back from Trader Joe's on the way home to their home down by the noisy FL Turnpike but they want to move in to the apartments hopefully over Chico's Ladies Store in Spanish Springs after the Morse Family sells out to the crazy dancing guy with the kerchief !"

Above all don't drink the water!
Poster forgot to mention "Above all don't drink the water" It not even a secret > The Villages puts something in the water that makes "almost" everyone living here thinking its the best place on earth, why didn't we move here sooner. I've heard its something called H20 and they offer you a free bottle if you visit one of the many information centers. Don't even think about accepting one and trying it. Believe me it turns out to be very expensive, but most agree worth it. :icon_wink::icon_wink:

So could you not get in or did you have to leave. You won’t win your argument here. Car is not needed as all shopping can be done by cart or online. Fees are great, people are great and there is plenty to do if you don’t golf. Life is too short to be so negative. And if you want to see traffic go up to Boston or New York.

I moved here because my parents lived here and i wanted to be close to them physically to help them out. My dad passed away and my mother is at a local nursing home so i continue to live here. I love my home but other than that, I am in complete agreement with what the initial writer posted. I dream of the day I can get out of here. The posters who say this place is not an HOA crack me up. Call it amenity fees or HOA fees it’s the same thing. You have rules and regulations everywhere. For all practical purposes, it’s an HOA. And selling your home and making money. That’s funny, too. Maybe at the present time because home prices have gone up. But the focus here is in selling new homes and not your older home. However, i am happy for the people who love it here. Good for you! You found your spot. Someday i hope to find mine, too.

I believe Siberia is pleasant this time of year.
