Open Air Concert Series - Don't Bother!
Went to the QUEEN concert last night and it was a huge dissappointment! Whoever the operative/logistics person is, they don't know what they're doing. We got tickets for the golf cart area and basically paid $120 for the four of us to LISTEN to the concert because we couldn't see a thing. They put golf carts BEHIND the sound booth and two vending areas.
The concerts are billed as "come and watch in your golf cart..." Obviously, they were joking. Even the VIP area was so far to the south that those people were taking their chairs over to the general admission so they could see. The stage lighting was horrible, also. So, it was a nice idea but the organizers should be fired for the layout of the venue. Don't bother, it's a waste of money! |

One would think by now they would know how to set up for an outdoor venue. Right now would prefer outdoors but not when we cannot see the show.

We went last night as well. The lead singer was terrible. Very disappointed. We’re going tonight to see Elton John Tribute. Hope it’s better.

We went with low expectations and weren't disappointed. :1rotfl: The golf cart section was a joke. We're also going tonight but have upgraded our tickets to General Admission.

IIRC the same negative reactions happened last year or whenever it was when they first attempted this. I guess they are **TRYING** to make people more comfortable wrt heath issues by being outdoors. Have the recent INDOOR concerts been full like the old days when you could never get decent (or any) seats?

Got'cha |
Went to tonight's show. Totally different experience in the General Admission section. We were three rows back. Had a great view of everything. Nobody can really pull off Elton John but this guy was credible. For me it was more about the music. Elton's songs seem to bring back a lot of great emotions and memories. I wouldn't critique it as I would the Queen knock off band since for me they were two different types of experiences with two different expectations.
For sure if we ever do this again it will be in the General Admission section and not in the golf cart. |
We went to Queen and really enjoyed ourselves. We were in our golf carts but we brought our chairs up some to see the stage. Yes the vocals were off but the music was great and the song choices were awesome. $30 for a night out was fine. The entire middle area of the golf cart area was roped off behind the sound booth, not sure how someone pulled in to try to watch from there. For me it was very enjoyable and I did not see the issues others seemed to have.

We've been thinking about going to an open air concert. This thread has been very helpful in planning how we go about it. Thanks.
(Just a quick aside...this is my first post in a while. I've lurked a little and went way longer than I expected to without posting. It was good for me to get away for a bit, but it's good to be back. :) Sorry for the off-topic diversion. Now get back on topic!! :D) |

We have seen the Queen tribute band, were really looking forward to the to the others, but my huge issue was logistics. There is a lot I can do as a handicapped person, but portapotties are a true challenge, and I could not risk it. Can anyone give me feedback on how that was handled for wheelchair access?
