As a fellow Taurus, whatever you do, don't mail your Rolex thru usps to a repair shop, you will never see it again.

When my Rolex needs repair I just order Jeeves to get the Bentley and hand-deliver it.

Rolex repair

I would not let any one touch my Rolex except Rolex. When you send it to Rolex, there is a record of the repair inside the watch that tells you when it was serviced. Send it registered mail to the authorized Rolex repair. Don't fool around with these local repair outfits. A local jewelry store ruined one of my watches. I have an Omega that is 60 years old and I send it to Omega every few years for cleaning. It works perfectly. Only my humble opinion.

How did this become a Rolex repair thread? Did the OP mention Rolex watches?:confused::confused:

Holpat39 12-26-2021 11:56 AM

Just be snobs. Simple OP question. Where can I get my watch repaired.

newkid 12-26-2021 04:40 PM

If you have an expensive or a vintage watch be careful who you entrust them to. The only local establishment I know of that has a certified watch repair person on staff is Gause and Sons in Ocala. Many others send watches out to third party repairers who may or may not be able to properly service your watch.

If you have a vintage Breitling, use these people. I inherited an early 60's Breitling and Breitling couldn't fix it (they didn't have the parts).

Holorogical Services did a beautiful job, replacing the cracked glass and it runs perfectly. I brought it to the Breitling store in NYC to show them, they were impressed. They then gave me a tour of the upstairs museum, where I saw another example of my watch (they had to admit that mine was nicer... ;) )

If it was a cheap watch why would he care about repairing it? Sooo everyone who commented thought it was a better brand watch he was interested in repairing. Some people spent thousands on fancy cars, others like watches. What's the big deal?

The Clock Shop in Eustis

I recommend The Clock Shop in Eustis on Bay St. (call and they will tell you the "back" route via Hwy 42 to avoid the drive on 441 through Leesburg)

This is a small shop. The owners have been in business many years and repair both clocks and watches. I have a collection of both watches and clocks and I have a high degree of confidence in their skills.

The shop has a decent inventory of antique clocks, including long-cases. I was surprised to learn they also repair Atmos, a task few clock/watchmakers will undertake.

Several of the replies to this post mention Rolex. There is nothing particularly challenging about servicing/repairing a Rolex. The usual problem is getting parts from Rolex. Many independent shops have to resort to aftermarket parts which you should avoid.

The Post Office actually has the safest means of delivering valuables via "registered mail". "Registered" means that anyone who touches the package has to sign a "register". Further, registered mail is kept separate from all other mail and in a locked cage which only a few employees are allowed to enter.

Registered mail dominates the market for delivery services for valuable items such as gold, diamonds, and securities (negotiable bonds and stock certificates). FedEx and UPS have cut into this market in recent years, but registered mail is still the best and the cheapest.
