They have only just begun.
The removal of the 25 overpass and widening was projected to be a 3-year project.

it seems like road construction in FL does take longer than in the northern states, where winter weather plays a big factor

A price that one pays for living in "La, La" land.

It appears that for those who have no patience and want this job finished in one afternoon that you are getting a seriously high-quality paving job and drainage system which is important if you've lived here more than a few hours. I'm sure you will be pleased with the outcome.

Your right on the mark! Some people like to bitch. I guess it makes them feel good; if so go for it!

Three years does seem to be a long long time for this to get finished

NoMoSno 12-27-2021 05:40 PM

Looks like fall of 2023 is the projected completion date.
Barring any weather delays or labor/material shortages.

"The closure is scheduled to begin as soon as the morning of Monday, Oct. 4 and remain in effect until the project is completed in fall 2023. Please note that the work schedule is subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances."

238395-5 U.S. 441 Widening from Lake Ella Road to Avenida Central

Would be nice if they worked through the night like many states do.

And who, pray tell, will be using those sidewalks? And on BOTH SIDES, no less!

That’s only about a mile, but it’s a mile of four-lane divided highway. It’ll be tough for the DOT to get it done be “early in 2022” as their press releases says. But then, when’s the last time you felt you could rely on the statements of elected officials and/or their appointees?

La lamy 12-28-2021 05:44 AM

Something else that needs attention IMO is all the sinking cobblestone around the WAWA gas station on 44, and on the street behind it that leads to the Medical plazas.

sjeffries 12-28-2021 05:57 AM

I’ve never seen one soul using those sidewalks. Why are they needed?

They also widened the road, made a shopping mall out of a gigantic divot in the earth and are doing bridge work. I would give them extremely high grades for their efforts and execution. Your outlook may vary.

It’s going to be fantastic when they finish. All during a Pandemic too! Bravo to the main contractor.

If the local government accepts federal money to pay for a project, then they are required to conform to federal guidelines. Federal guidelines require sidewalks and bike lanes on all roads.

Has anyone taken the SE 192nd loop that by passes Bellview to the East?
There's miles and miles of bike paths running parrel with 192nd Loop and I never
seen anyone on them in all the years I drove that way.

As a taxpayer, you can take your federal guidelines and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.
