Air Supply

Air Supply $96 and up
The Beach Boys &85 and up
Paul Anka $125 and up
38 Special $75 and up

Just curious why people don't blink an eye at these prices? Paul Anka is 80 years old
You can see the Beach Boys at the Strawberry fest in Plant City in March for $35
Air Supply & 38 Special have both been on the stage at Epcot

Babubhat 01-02-2022 05:31 PM

Too many people with excess funds and too little time left

retiredguy123 01-02-2022 05:36 PM

I have no interest in seeing any of them. But, if I had to, I would pay a lot more than that to not need to go to Plant City or Epcot.

Those prices ae not unreasonable - but, the only show I would pay to see is a guy named McCartney.

Bogie Shooter 01-02-2022 09:21 PM

Time, distance, crowds, traffic.

Stu from NYC 01-02-2022 10:05 PM

If they were 30-40 years younger and can sing as they did than would consider going

Garywt 01-03-2022 01:49 AM

I don’t want to get old so I will not stop playing.

GOLFER54 01-03-2022 05:40 AM

I believe these prices are too steep.

Jdburns11 01-03-2022 06:00 AM

Seems high to me, but I’m a bit new…. Only thought I had was these venues are probably not huge in capacity vs. others and given the demand with over 100,000 during winter I believe - probably not hard to get the number that can and will pay those amounts. It’s probably not me however.

Respectfully, DB

BlueStarAirlines 01-03-2022 06:36 AM

Convenience.

vinricci 01-03-2022 07:01 AM

I would see any of them if they perform at Savannah center but not at the Sharon. It’s acoustics are so poor that sounds are distorted. Last time Air Supply was here, the performers had to keep adjusting their microphones to compensate.

Luggage 01-03-2022 07:24 AM

so the question really is, are you getting value for your money. Or do you think the prices are just inflated, you have to really consider that most bands travel with a large Entourage and there are heavy costs whether it's a small venue or not, or one of you the people that believe there is no such thing as inflation and bread still cost 10 cents for each loaf

Same reasons that explain why some people fly first class, and I fly Allegiant. Or, why some people pay hundreds of dollars for a bottle of wine, and I pay $20. Or why some people drive a Lexus, and I drive a Toyota.
I don't see a mystery here.

Dantes 01-03-2022 07:49 AM

I agree it’s crazy.they are only name only bands Most of the original members are dead

I remember seeing Paul Anka on Dick Clark’s American Band Stand. I have seen all the others in Concert years ago NO IM NOT PAYING THOSE PRICES.
Hope everyone going has a great time

Petersweeney 01-03-2022 08:17 AM

Was in NY recently and paid 30 bucks to see a dozen littlenecks disappear right in front of me…..

B-flat 01-03-2022 08:18 AM

I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in since BosoxFan the original poster is from my neck of the woods. I'm a fan of jazz and for about $70 for 2 people we could go to Sculler's Jazz Club in Boston. It's a small venue and you'd be sitting close to the musician(s). Want dinner thrown in it would be $190. I'll save my money for our next trip north. We all have different musical tastes none of the artists coming here interest me. Different strokes for different folks.

Andyb 01-03-2022 08:48 AM

Inflation

sail33or 01-03-2022 08:53 AM

I am guessing the ticket price is based on simple math. The performer requires a guaranteed minimum, and the Sharon or Savanna are small venues (low number of people). This is why there are sometimes two showtimes on the same day.

I think it is okay to have "options" here. People right now are paying $350,000 or more extra for the same house as a year ago. You can see many high cost shows for $350K.

Lexus/ Toyota same car.

UpNorth 01-03-2022 10:35 AM

Never been to The Sharon. Still waiting for some act that would appeal to me so I can get my first experience at that venue. Nothing since it opened.

Samfl 01-03-2022 10:37 AM

We have been burnt twice by the Fifth Dimension (really one dimension and she couldn’t sing) and Gary Puckett. Therefore we will only go to the tribute bands. Terrific entertainment in the squares for free. It’s a free country, how others spend their money is none of my business.

There’s a sucker born ever minute. Some people aren’t willing to say NO

itsaly 01-03-2022 11:05 AM

Exactly why I haven't been to a concert or musical in years. I'm way too cheap to pay those prices.

So if I pay $125 for a ticket to a show I want to see, then I'm a "sucker"????? In that case, considering what I spent on Valentine's Day 2 years ago for VIP seating and dinner to see Andrea Bocelli at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, I must be president of the suckers club:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

But, for anyone who doesn't want to pay the price that the market demands, there's free music at the squares.

Michael G. 01-03-2022 01:51 PM

It's you rich fat cats from the New England states that come down here and drive-up prices,
then complain about their taxes up there.

Hell Ya, come to Florida, land of cheap living.

They're also the same people that pay for overpriced services to the first people that come to their front door.

Wings? Not for those prices.

frank1975 01-03-2022 03:14 PM

Not sure what price you're expecting. There right in line. I'm blinking and buying!!!!

frank1975 01-03-2022 03:18 PM

A SUCKER??????? Let me ask you what is a reasonable price to you to see The Beach Boys?????

We tend to think of a fair price. That is not reality. If, people were not willing to pay those prices they would need to either cancel or lower the price. The performer does not get all that money. There is everything from lighting, security, ticket sellers, ushers,
attorneys, agents etc,etc,etc,etc

Priced are rising everywhere. Fat cats? Reality whatever you have there will be people with more. People demand more. Things like a venue to have a concert and then object to paying for it. Personally, I've been poor. Actually in a way, a good thing. I appreciate what I have. I am now very comfortable-whatever that means. It only took me 45 years of hard work and savings. My simple genius that I share with everyone. Each year you will be one year older or dead. Prices always go up. Except if we have a depression.

mneumann02 01-03-2022 07:11 PM

Not True

Not true and mean spirited. Especially ironic coming from the football team quarterback fan who lied about his vaccinations and put others at risk.

OK, we now have a winner in the "non-sequitur" of the day contest:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

That's too bad. We have seen Gary Puckett twice (pre-Covid, but in the past 5-10 years). He had a good show and was in good voice both times. In fact, I was impressed with how well he has learned to adapt and not strain his vocal cords, as many older singers do.

We have also seen the Fifth Dimension. There was only one original member. They were were ok, but not great. They did sing on pitch.

I have seen tribute bands for Chicago and John Denver. Both were huge disappointments.

we were @ that show, & they rocked! am very sorry you didn't enjoy it, i'd see them again. Laverna did an excellent job, imo

Saw Herman's Hermits last night. Prices were $35 - $40. I never enjoyed a concert more! Peter Noone is a great showman, great sense of humor, still has a good voice and oozes personality. The audience loved him.

Inflation. That $8 ticket you bought for a concert in 1969 would cost a little over $80 in today’s money. Of course, by the same reasoning, the ten bucks you spent on pizza and beer after the concert would set you back $100 in today’s money.
