Tire Repair

One of my car tires has developed a slow leak. Probably picked up a nail somewhere. Looking for suggestions of someplace honest to fix it since it only has 15,000 miles. Thanks.

Free flat repair if you are a member of Sam’s

They are somewhat quick to say it cannot be fixed and sell you a new one.

Would recommend Sumter tire

Altavia 01-17-2022 08:25 PM

+1 for Sumter Tire

"somewhat quick" doesn't give much of a knowledgeable answer.

retiredguy123 01-18-2022 01:40 AM

Sumter Tire or Wildwood tire.

CarrieOn 01-18-2022 05:37 AM

Expert across the street from Walmart on 441

Are you sure you have a leak? When the weather turns cold like this the air pressure in your tires will drop a little and the tpms may show a low tire pressure. Air up your tires but be aware the tpms won’t re-set until the switch has been turned off(at least that’s the way it is on my Honda)

Any place except TIRE CHOICE...
:ho::welcome:

bowlingal 01-18-2022 06:51 AM

Firestone on 466 just past Walmart, or Sumter tire on 301. Both excellent choices

Luggage 01-18-2022 06:55 AM

Has someone said above the call that weather affects tire pressure my tires go down 4 to 6 lb in the winter here in Florida but if you're on the highway for 10 or 15 minutes they will go up from being heated running around

JoelJohnson 01-18-2022 06:57 AM

If the nail in in the tread then it's an easy fix, if it is in the side wall you will need a new tire.

banjobob 01-18-2022 07:02 AM

Pep boys , great guys honest work

Yes, but some places will not repair a leak in the tread if it is too close the sidewall (within an inch or so). But, other places will repair almost any leak that is in the tread. Go figure.

The correct way to repair a leak in a tire is to have a vulcanized patch placed on the inside of the tire. Do not let anyone put a plug in the tire to repair the leak.
I would think that Firestone on 466 would do the repair correctly.

The most common tire to get a leak is the right rear, cutting the corners to close on a right hand turn you tend to pick up something from the roadway.

WalkerLoop 01-18-2022 07:39 AM

I'd go to Quality Tire near the intersection of 466 and 27/441. It's slightly before the WaWa if you're going East on 466. They look like a real junk, hole in the wall but they do honest, excellent work. They will repair tires that a lot of other places won't. The other places will try to sell you a new tire. I've had them repair tires twice that other places wouldn't and their work was perfect.

In a previous post you were annoyed by a two-week wait for tire rotation at Sam’s?

Buckeyephan 01-18-2022 08:04 AM

Thanks for the great suggestions. A few weeks ago when the weather changed, the pressure in only the driver's front went way down. Pumped it up but yesterday it dropped way down again while the others were just fine.

yourjoy 01-18-2022 08:05 AM

Walmart does a good job with tires.

Petersweeney 01-18-2022 08:14 AM

Sams club did right by me….

dlebuis 01-18-2022 08:14 AM

Wildwood Tire in 44 fixed my tire when I had a nail in it. I drove in saying I had a slow leak and they were able to fix it right away. Very reasonable and nice.

I would carefully inspect all of the tread to see if there is a nail or a screw in the tire. Although, if you find one, leave it in until you get to the service center.

Note that if the nail is too close to the edge, some mechanics won't repair the tire.

NY2TV 01-18-2022 08:20 AM

Sumter tire. I had a nail in my tire. $28 to plug it. I was in and out in 20 minutes.

terryf484 01-18-2022 08:28 AM

JayDub 01-18-2022 08:41 AM

Sumter Tire on 301 is my go to shop. Very happy with there service

Dana1963 01-18-2022 08:47 AM

I carry an air compressor, patch/plug kit and my AAA card in my car.
In a pinch, it will get me to a safe area. I do know my limitations
I've been patching and or plugging tires since I was 16.

Traveling lady 01-18-2022 09:00 AM

Goodyear over in front of Home Depot by Sam’s.

Sunflower33 01-18-2022 09:02 AM

If you are a sams member that’s a great place. Just drive up.

Yea, I just went through that. They said I needed a new tire, & I thought, WHAT. I had some plugs & plug it myself. I drove it from Texas to Ohio & back & it’s still OK. Just don’t get conned into buy a new tire.

Goodyear over by Sam’s will fix it for free and no pressure to buy a new tire!

Dana1963 01-18-2022 10:05 AM

Anybody, has Jenkins Hyundai tell them the air in their tires need to be changed?
It actually happened to a neighbor.

totv7 01-18-2022 10:23 AM

Tire repair

Lady Lake Quality Tire&Repair, 216 Hwy 466 Lady Lake 352.250.4665 close to Old Dixie Hwy and the Wawa 466/441. Don't be fooled by the look as it appears. The owner Vaughn is very reputable, honest, and knowledgeable. I just purchased 4 new tires, balanced, taxes, and installed with a total less than the cost of an internet Tire company for just tires. He also looked at 4 other recommended services by a dealer and said I don't need them and explained why.
He saved me many dollars.

He will tell you if the Tire can be fixed.

Yes think that is too long to have to wait for tire rotation that we have previously paid them for.

The manager excuse is the place is too small for the business they do and need more bays.

davem4616 01-18-2022 11:05 AM

The Goodyear Tire shop over near Sam's fixed a flat for me for free....I had picked up a nail
