How Did This Happen? - Different Roofs for Different People? VIDEO
Chime in on how did this happen in the Spanish Springs area.

Video replaces clip board to find potential deed violations?

I lived there for several years. That's the way The Villages designed/built those town houses. Here's some trivia - did you know those town houses were the place you were put up in for the lifestyle visit many moons ago ?

It seems each "set" of 3 homes had a Spanish tile, a shingle and a metal roof... |
Somebody has too much time on their hands...

Things that matter, not. Deed restrictions are different throughout the Villages, some neighborhood don’t have any.

$20 per night plus one hundred "Village Bucks" and two free dinners at The Catllemans Club (upstairs old Katie Bell's....when it was THE place to go......Villages residents or Guests of TV visitation only). |
I like it.

I am sure I will be corrected if wrong, but I believe the Spanish Springs homes in the video are considered condos. The roofs would be maintained by the condo association. I don’t think the ARC has any say over these areas.

I wish I knew how to delete a reply. Even though it says “Edit/Delete” I see no delete function, and it won’t let me save a reply that has nothing written. So, you get this instead.

I agree it's quite unusual. Looks like roof people ran out of material even though I know that's not the case.
|
I think that both of the areas shown look fine.

I love those homes. The differing roofs just add to their charm.

Realign your thinking...
I find your post quite annoying. Either you need to search out a charity to vounteer for, or get a job. Seriously, you are driving around looking at the roofs on homes?
If you know anything about construction, a barrel tile roof or a metal roof will far outlast shoddy asphalt shingles. I find that neighborhood quite charming. And those homes are far better built than any of the new construction being slapped up today. |

Those are individually owned homes and they are very expensive. So is the roof that you are required to fork up around 25k+ to replace when you are told. |
Architecture is Art
What you are observing is Architecture. I don’t mean that to be sarcastic or flippant, only as a statement.
Architecture is many forms is Art and others it is function and occasionally both. Look at some of the famous streets of San Fransisco where you have all the different colored building all adjacent to one another and yet each one is a different color, it works. Look at these homes, you noticed the roofs, but did you also notice that the paint and design features on each unit were different? Did you notice that when you moved to the next set, the pattern repeated or may have been mixed but still the three patterns were the same? Not everyone appreciates a VanGough or a Davinci but they were all great by those that admire the work. Not all golfer like the Pete Dye courses and some don’t like the Palmer or Nicklaus designs, but not everyone needs to. You don’t have to like this eclectic blend of designs, but don’t criticize those that do. |
I would not buy there, so it really doesn't matter does it ?
|
Did you knock on any doors and ask the owners? Drawing conclusions without knowing the facts generally leads to embarassment.

How??? Probably a roofing contractor, that's how. |
Then why on one side of the road are the exact same homes all have the same roofs? It's just an observation that I find interesting. Sorry if I've annoyed your delicate disposition.
|
Why would I knock on doors when I have all these 'experts" on TOTV?
|
IMO no reason metal roofs should not be allowed anywhere in villages I agree that they should control what color. Metal roof rarely ever have to be replaced. IMO the metal roofs in that non district controlled area would looked better if deep red or brown. I do agree green sticks out like big pimple. Even the light colored shingled roof sticks out. But, who really looks up at roofs anyway?

NO. "Rocket Surgery" is a somewhat recent (years old) phrase to demonstrate stupidity on someone else's part. Have used it for years especially in our advertising agency. A similar set of examples for "obvious"..."Does the Pope shat in the woods?" "Is a bear Catholic?" Hello.... |

"It's not Rocket Science" was always meant to mean something is easy... Same with "Brain Surgery"... Mixing the two is just a different, "fun" way to say the same thing... |

......This particular Utuber-troll knocks himself out driving around and putting down homeowners and their wroff, wroffs with his sanctimonious babble and implying that they DARE offend HIS particular personality disorder of roof-color-coordination. What a crock.....a witch's brew of sanctimony and pet peeves. And probably not even in his own neighborhood? It was like a military-conformity inspection! And he even managed to slander the homeowners that were proud of their partial 2-story house sections. .....God said come FORTE for mental flexibility and empathy ......and he came fifth...... or maybe 6th. To troll or not to troll? Whether tis better in the minds of men to be a creepy butthead or........ |
:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl: Hey folks I know you are all having fun so please don't let your lack of knowledge stop you from posting. They ARE condos and they do have their own HOA (actually condo assoc.) They also pay taxes and I think amenities. The owners own from the sheet rock in. They were built with those roofs. Now that it's known that they are not liked by some on this site..... they will be re-roofed starting tomorrow.
Here's a recent listing:1233 Avenida De Las Casas #1233, Lady Lake, FL 32159 | Zillow |
