Install lock and key on closet pocket door?

Hoping to have one closet locked for our personal things while renters can use other closet for their stay.
I am looking to replace handle with and install a lock and key on closet pocket door? Any suggestions if have done?

Google 'pocket door lock with key' and you will find several options, many looked like they were designed to fit original hole in the door and slot in the frame. You could remove the existing ones and compare at the local stores (Lowe's. Home Depot, Ace), Affordable Lock (441) may have suitable options also.

//Remove the door handle, and replace with a keyed deadbolt.

I had the main closet door handle replaced with a keyed handle. Took a photo of the existing one to match color and shape, ordered it at Lowes and then Howard Hanson the locksmith installed it; 708 785-1115. It was a regular door not a pocket door, you might want to ask Hanson what to do.

So you lock the deadbolt and the door still slides open. Not going to work

There is one available on Amazon for $95.48. It looks like it would fit the door if your’s is a round hole (not square) but there will be some drilling to do (and possible chiseling) on the jamb side.

We have locks on 2 of our pocket doors that we do not want locks on. Send a picture of yours, maybe we can swap?
