Terrible TV Commercial
Over the years, Chevrolet has produced some of the worst ad campaigns to sell their vehicles. But their latest one may be the worst. In one ad, a father is driving a new SUV. His teenaged daughter and her boyfriend are riding in the back seat. He warns the boyfriend that the vehicle has a camera in the back seat and that he will be monitoring them to see if any "funny business" is going on. Really? Is that the best reason Chevrolet could come up with to convince buyers that they need a camera in the back seat? To me, the commercial is not only not funny, but it is insulting to teenagers. Rant over.

And not much better is the dad whos security system whistles when his daughter is on the couch with her boyfriend.
|
But Chevy truck commercial with Walter the cat is very funny

The things we rant about when we get old. :1rotfl:
I loved the Chevy commercial where the daughter had the 66 Impala restored for her father. |
Going off the Chevy commercials a bit, the commercials I hate are when they take these new trucks/cars in the back country and drive the hell out of them though rocks, rivers, streams. dust and dirt.
Do they really impress you that much to buy one thinking it's tough and long lasting?? Oh, and here's another, the guy takes his hands off the wheel of his GMC truck then claps....Stupid |

But I especially hated the ones where they bragged about winning the J.D. Powers awards. Those awards are for sale to anyone willing to pay for them. |

None of these commercials inspire me to buy their products.

I do like the Budweiser commercials with the dogs and the horses. Sadly, I’m allergic to beer.

Rented a Kia from Avis last month - what a piece of crap….. it bottomed out on a speed bump at the airport going 5mph.
. |
I would say the commercial is effective, even if it’s dumb. Here we are, talking about it - and we all know its a Chevy truck that has all the cameras.
|
Are you really that clueless?

I had a 2019 Nissan that would steer inside the lines on the road (kind of a weird feeling going 70 on the interstate, turned this feature off), had adaptive cruise control to automatically keep a safe distance between you and the car in front of you and would automatically adjust the speed with the flow of the traffic, and would brake forward or backward if it found an object in its path. Chevy is years behind current technology

Why advertise? Their sales lots are empty.

Hey it’s a Chevrolet. The camera will break a week after the warranty is up anyway. |
I have Never purchased a car based on a commercial.

They had airbags in 1973, but people generally didn't want them. |

“BIG ROCK CANDY MOUNTAIN”. I don’t remember seeing the first Walter commercial that people are talking about. So I’m gonna have to go watch that right now. |

I love Walter the cat.

I really like the one(I believe it's a GM commercial?) with the son playing a video game, crashing his car continually, while the father looks out at his new shiny maroon SUV, with the caption "he's going to be driving one day"?!

I think the worst Chevrolet/GM ad campaign was the one that had the slogan "Built better than they need to be". Wow really? Shortly after they went bankrupt. Go figure.
|
Obviously you do not understand the commercial, no camera in the back seat, father joking. The commercial with them clapping to a great song is about their super cruise, which is really cool, and is like self driving, I have been in these vehicles, and super cruise is going to be a feature like regular cruise is on a vehicle is now. Love the commercial.

I tend to fast-forward through 95% of the commercials and 100% of the car commercials. I will read Consumer Digest to find out the repair record of various makes and models. Most ads are meaningless and many are outright irritating. One thing that I find strange is that the ads for the newest vehicles seem to think that people believe that their vehicles are just so much rolling computers and entertainment centers. There is very little discussion about safety, horsepower, engine types, and gas mileage. Potential customers have to work to find out if the vehicle uses regular or premium fuel.
........Many non-sport car types like 4 door SUVs require premium fuel - that seems stupid to me. I can see premium used for Corvettes or Porsches, but not in bland grocery-haulers. I guess that the ads need to talk about the vehicle's electronics because to my mind's eye, all the SUVs look the same - very little styling differences. I think that vehicle buyers are paying thousands of dollars extra for computers and electronic gadgets when the basic purpose of that vehicle is simply to go from point A to point B. |
I heard that the most irritating and stupid commercials are great
because those are the ones people remember the most, it must be true reading comments here. |
