Bobcat in my yard
Last night there was a Bobcat in my back yard. I live in a courtyard villa off canal street.
When I turned on the light he jumped to the back wall and walked from my wall to the next wall and then jumped down. (not in my yard) If you have a little dog DO NOT let him out in the yard alone at night. My husband takes a baseball bat with him when he goes out with the dog now. |

We've seen a bobcat walking along our villa wall in St.James a couple of times now at night.

In our back yard we found the remain of a rabbit, probably killed by a coyote or bobcat. They had eaten everything except for the lungs and a couple feet. The next day the birds took care of the lungs and we threw the feet in the trash. |

In my area I use to see rabbits every night. Now I don’t think I seen one for two months. |
it doesn't look like we live in the country, but we live in the country...the critters were here long before TV
some will move on, some will adapt...and some will move in when their haunts are developed |

I am more worried about the bad drivers than the animal life.

I need to be thanked more …. I want to hit 300…. Good baseball average….please help :)

Can anyone please tell me of an actual documented case in The Villages where a bobcat killed a dog.
|
Bats unnecessary. The Bobcat will leave immediately.

The reason bobcats and coyotes exist here and in far more urban areas is that they are survivor smart. They survey the situation and adjust.

Oh man, if he takes a ball bat with him for protection from a Bob Cat he better kill it on the 1st strike. I hunted Bobcats & you don’t want to be within
10 to 15 ft. of one. They’re one mean SOB! |

Personally, I would prefer a stout walking stick about 3' 10" in length. You could use that to gouge them with or to hit them using a "baseball" swing. BTW, there are a lot of raccoon here too, but you seldom see them because they are mostly nocturnal. Put a trail camera and some decent bait in your yard and you're likely to see all kinds of creatures you didn't know were here. |

If they don't like loud noises, instead of harming them with bats, clubs etc. Can't you just get a siren thing that goes on your keychain. I have one that when I hit it, it goes off. It's supposed to scare away an attacker. I also have the other spray just in case.

I thought rabbits feet would bring good luck if you if you rubbed them.

Right.
People killed in traffic 100s People killed by bobcat or coyotes 0.00 Tony |
I’m just saying this lady said her husband took a ball bat for protection, but you’re right he probably couldn’t get close enough to it unless he cornered it. Then my money would on the Bobcat! They’re very nasty.

Bobcat
Of course you saw a Bobcat, one day you may see a Black Bear. Animals were here first and we are depleting their world. Not the other way round.
