Round trip flight for $44

Just got a deal for a Weds to Weds flight on Spirit for $44. Can’t pass that up. My wife can only come down for a long weekend which is $84 but I will take the week.

The great thing about having a house is there are no bags to fly. Everything we would ever need is in the house so just get on the plane and go.

Probably will rent a car but with the golf carts I could get a ride so we shall see.

This will most likely be our last trip until next winter. We have a cruise in Sept and Aruba in Dec so we will need to see what time is available for Florida.

Bjeanj 02-22-2022 10:37 PM

Great deal.

Hape2Bhr 02-23-2022 07:38 AM

I've heard flying Spirit is similar to being in a cattle car...thoughts.

Do you fly to Aruba from Florida or up north?

RICH1 02-23-2022 07:42 AM

If only we had more FAA inspectors ! Ask to see the “ Flight Log Book” , the Deferred item list can be overwhelming..

It's true, flights are crazy cheap lately. I fly down to either Orlando or Sanford from Rochester ny for an average of 50$ each way. I've done this on alligent, frontier and southwest, in addition, Rochester has now picked up spirit also.
I do the same as this poster...I have a house in both places, so no need for carry on...yes, that can be a separate charge. These are all DIRECT flights so I get there in under 3 hours.
Two weeks ago I flew out of sanford my 2:04 flight left late, at 2:55. The pilot put us on the ground at 4:59....crazy.......you can't pay for a dinner out cheaper than this flight price...or eat it as quickly....lol

OrangeBlossomBaby 02-23-2022 09:44 AM

You have to pay extra for the seat. It could be anywhere between 19 and 40 extra depending on the seat. It is absolutely like sitting in a cattle-car.

If you just want a glass of water, you have to pay extra for it. And they don't take cash, so you'd have to charge $2 for a mini-bottle of water onto your credit card. Suggestion: ask for just a cup of ice. That's pretty much the only thing they don't charge extra for. Then let the ice melt, and voila - you have 1/4 of a cup of water, free.

davem4616 02-23-2022 09:54 AM

we were snow bunnies for about six years....yup, nice to travel w/o bags

in all that time we flew Spirit once....that was enough

Yeah, everything is extra so careful.
Some don't realize it until it's to later and the flight cost $255.00.

BTW... check offend for flight cancelations; the cheap airlines remove flights a lot if your flight isn't full.
Fair warning

Spirit has come a long way, last flight was on a brand new plane, just no tvs or wifi.

We fly Boston to Aruba direct flights from Boston on JetBlue.

Have to fly Tuesday or Wednesday, no frills and it cost more than the flight cost to pick a seat, bring a carryon or check luggage. This is where they make their money I guess.

When I booked it I said even if I don’t go, it is only $44.

The last time we flew Spirit it was a brand new plane, 9 days old, and we did upgrade to the oversized seats up front so it was real nice.

vintageogauge 02-23-2022 03:01 PM

Frontier is making a bid to merge with Spirit and if all goes through they will be the 5th largest carrier.

Babubhat 02-23-2022 03:48 PM

Requires no luggage , checked or carryon. No seat selection. Not good for tall people. Tightest seats of any airline

That is fine it is $22 each way Boston to Orlando.

Luggage 02-24-2022 05:51 AM

It's not a guess, the airlines have unbundled all their costs and literally do make billions of dollars extra correctly now

Good information - especially knowing about your plans for a trip??

Larryandlinda 02-24-2022 06:39 AM

That’s low enough to rescind our vow that spirit would be a once in a lifetime exoerience!
Did someone say SPIRIT and AIRLINE in the same sentence?;-)

Priebehouse 02-24-2022 06:58 AM

I love Spirit. I have flown my wife to and from Detroit at times for $20 each leg! No need for free pretzels or peanuts. That's about $9/hour.

Had a direct flight down to Orlando last year with Spirit. Flight was changed without notice to different flight with a 14 hour layover. Still trying to get my money back

Villages Kahuna 02-24-2022 07:39 AM

I wouldn’t fly on Spirit if the tickets were free. The last time I flew with them the seats were so close together that I had to keep my knees spread apart like a tobaggan because they wouldn’t fit in front of me behind the seat ahead. They’ve redesigned the seats so that they have metal tubing as structure and next to no upholstery or padding.

tsmall22204 02-24-2022 07:39 AM

So help me here, what is the issue? Are you just bragging about your life?

Don’t be a stink bug……

Flyers999 02-24-2022 08:46 AM

I used to fly Spirit, but never again. My sister just booked a flight on Spirit to TV from Philly for a similar price like yours. She said that they made her pay luggage fees even though she wont have any luggage.
After the trip, let us know how much it really cost.

Spirit! That means plus $50 or more each way for a SEAT, unless you are going to stand the whole way, which isn’t allowed. And $25 for a carry-on bag, each way, or $50 each way for checked luggage. I flew eight years ago from Allentown, PA to Sanford, FL. By the time I took a shuttle bus to Orlando to catch a shuttle bus going to Ocala (to visit a friend), it was not really much cheaper than flying United.

newgirl 02-24-2022 10:23 AM

I have been the only one on Allegint air..

I hear you: Once on Spirit is enough. We flew Spirit this past weekend to Columbus OH and back.
The GOOD: Very inexpensive, only delayed 1 hour (not bad), nice flight attendants, direct flight
The BAD: ZERO comfort, and I mean zero - little padding in the seat; little leg room; conflicting information at airport - delayed, not delayed, delayed, not delayed, even gate agent didn’t know. No leg room (unless you pay for the “big” seat); some rows don’t allow you to put bags under seat in front of you. Our Row 4 was one of those rows.

We decided Spirit is a young person’s game. You can travel with a backpack and get great deals. We are too old to subject our bodies to those awful seats and no space to move your legs or store your purse. While the big carriers are not anything to brag about on a comfort level, Spirit is much less. Our backs are still recovering from those 2 flights.

asianthree 02-24-2022 10:28 AM

You are only charged for luggage if you check the box, for any airline exception is for club membership or southwest

$5 or $20 for bathroom use as well (depending on what number). You also need to put in a quarter to get toilet paper :) Spirit used to be known as SUNJET. Google 'em.

Seat gets assigned at no cost, no luggage or carryon so no cost. I will say if I am in a middle seat it will probably be miserable but we shall see. I did upgrade my seat last time and it was real nice up front.

noslices1 02-24-2022 01:20 PM

Do you have to ride in the baggage section, riding in an animal cage? When I rode with them I spent the extra $40.00 and got the front seat. Only two wide and reclines.
