Should have stayed at home

The army national guard recently left North Dakota (-15°F) for Alaska (+32°F) for cold weather training.

davem4616 02-24-2022 09:04 AM

I'd opt for 32 vs. - 15 if I was in charge also

it's training

Should have come to Florida, then

Stu from NYC 02-24-2022 10:08 AM

Train to simulate conditions as much as possible. Foolish.

Luggage 02-25-2022 06:58 AM

You should thank the armed forces and not complained so much about tax dollars at work

DaleDivine 02-25-2022 07:34 AM

I love this. Military Intelligence!

Fifty years ago I was transferred from Duluth, MN to King Salmon, AK. I was the only GI in Alaska to go there for warmer weather.

"Come on team, we have a domestic emergency in Bismark that needs our expertise."

"Ooh, that's a bit chilly for us, but we'd be happy to help out somewhere warmer."

Stu has it right - you need to train for the conditions in which you could be operating.

spd2918 02-25-2022 08:39 AM

It's more about the facility than the temperature.

Black Beauty 02-25-2022 10:27 AM

Fargo was -30 yesterday!

Bay Kid 02-26-2022 09:34 AM

Our National Guard should be used to protect our own country, like the southern border.

Do you people not watch the news, realize we may be needed.
I could go on for hours, but it will become a waste of my time and the other "decent people" that read this..

So I will just say...wow!

Trolling........................

Gulfcoast 02-28-2022 04:43 PM

Why are they doing cold weather training with the National Guard now? It's March.

Still pretty cold out up there

Gulfcoast 02-28-2022 04:48 PM

What's happening in Alaska or North Dakota that would require the National Guard to be acclimated to severely cold temperatures?

It's March. There aren't that many places in the country that will still be all that frigid?

didn't the prior administration take care of that? They diverted billions of $$ to pay for it.

Problem solved.

You do know 1/2 the training is getting to location. They train one weekend month at home base.

The training areas can only accommodate so many units at a time. A unit has to take the time frame given to them by the training command.

Are you not aware that National Guard units were federalized by the U.S. government and sent to Iraq, Afganistan and other sandboxes. Last time I checked there weren't any deserts in North Dakota. In the very early days of the Viet Nam war a limited number of guard units were sent there. There weren't any jungles in North Dakota but units are sent to Panama for jungle training. The military trains for war in all kinds of climates and geographical area. It's called being prepared.

We no longer have a southern border. Open area for thousand miles that anyone is free to cross. Plus if you need free medical, free cell, monthly $ payments, flights to your destination of choice, then you will need to stop in at the boarder processing center and sign up

No longer a problem. No more border. All are welcome.
