Question about Colony patio villa

Hello all. I am looking at the colony villa and I know it has a 1.5 garage. I wonder is it big enough that a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a golf cart can fit?

villagetinker 03-05-2022 05:10 PM

I am guessing this will be tight from comments I have seen previously. I would measure each (I will be glad to give you our Yamaha measurements), then get the villa plans and place each in the garage. Now, look at access to the vehicles, AND storage, there is very little storage in the house.

asianthree 03-05-2022 05:18 PM

Our 2 seat Yamaha golf cart, and Buick enclave fit in our old patio villa. Garage was a little wall-to-wall but little snug. Not much room for anything else, unless you hung it on the wall.

Bunny1 03-05-2022 05:30 PM

We can fit a Ford Explorer with our golf cart side by side and its tight but very doable. Able to fit hanging rakes, garden tools too. Store patio furniture also. Storage cabinets line walls with shelving.

Have a Jeep G.C. and Yamaha 2 seat G.C., can get both in P.V. garage, but it is a snug fit.

We live in a "Colony" (but not a Colony Villa). The 1.5 garage was too small for us since our GC has large doors so rather than give up the doors & A/C we had the garage built out by 4 feet turning into into a "pseudo" 2 car. Pseudo because of the A/C unit in the back reduces the length on the right side. Our next door neighbor (same home 1.5 standard garage) fits his small SUV and regular golf cart but not much room to spare for any shelving etc along the sides. If you want more storage space **AND** SUV and GC it might be a bit tight.

No problem just kind of a pain in the butt though very tight . Guessing you are referring to a courtyard villa.

Looked at both 1.5 and 2+ garages when we bough & moved last summer… if you value or need garage space in the least - for whatever reason - & perhaps even for getting in and out of your car/SUV… you may want at least 2.

As always, there are trade offs relative to what type of home you’re looking for and locations, price, other features that have you wanting the colony villa anyway.

We easily fill up most of a 2 car garage with just a few recreational items and the golf cart in the other side.

Respectfully, DB

My friends get their Chevy Equinox and golf cart, push mower and other things in the garage. Tight, not much moveability but doable...

The Grand Cherokee, no matter how much you love it, will be sitting out it the sun in the driveway, baking. Your Golf cart and all your junk will be filling up that tiny garage. Fact.

cleosmum 03-06-2022 07:16 AM

I had a courtyard villa and had my golf cart and a Hyundai Santa Fe in it. It was extremely tight, and when I needed to back the golf cart out I had to do a lot of maneuvering (not enough space to back straight out). Decided it just was not worth it and moved after a year and a half to a designer model. So much happier, and so much more garage space!

Grand Cherokee will fit

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2 seat Yamaha golf cart. They both fit in just fine in the garage of my Colony Patio Villa. There is even room to get out of the passenger door. It is a close fit, but very doable.

dustflood 03-06-2022 07:20 AM

I believe the Cabot Cove model has more room in the garage

We had a Cabot Cove villa that was built in 2013 and were able to fit a Rav4 and 2 golf carts along with a refrigerator. We had some yard tools hanging on the wall as well. It was tight but you could get in the driver side door of the car and into both golf carts. We looked at an older model Cabot Cove and were not sure if it would fit the same because it had a parking pole in front of the furnace/air conditioning unit.

I have an Anaheim Villa with a 1 & 1/2 car garage. I have no problem fitting a Yamaha golf cart and a Hyundai Palisade SUV in my garage. I however always back my car in favoring the passenger side to the interior wall. My cart is positioned close to the air handler closet.

ron32162 03-06-2022 08:07 AM

I have a jeep grand Cherokee and a golf cart in mine, fits fine.

Storage units

Why do you think there are so many storage warehouses on route 44 and 301? Do yourself a favor and get a two car garage.

We make it work. We have a Mazda CX-9, which is a large SUV and a Yamaha gas cart and they fit. It’s tight but we make it work. My bike hangs. And we have shelving all around. If you want a Patio Villa, you’re going to have to rid yourself of a lot of stuff (we did), but you’ll find you don’t need it anyway!:MOJE_whot:

We have a patio villa and fit our Toyota Sienna minivan and our golf cart in the garage with no problem. We have the Cabot Cove, not the Colony, but both garages have identical widths. It was a tight fit but we are garage-people and believe the first priority of the garage is to house our vehicles, not stuff. We will eventually change to a smaller vehicle for better space management and eliminating the laundry tub might make things easier. But for now, we have the large minivan and I can assure you both fit.

MrFlorida 03-06-2022 09:01 AM

It will be tight, but yes it will fit.

Shouldn't be a problem. We fit our Rav4 and golf cart in ours, and also parked my MC in there before I sold it. Only problem is that my wife has scraped the cart LH mirror against the door frame a couple of times.

Bridget Staunton 03-06-2022 09:32 AM

No! It’s not big enough, we had a villa 1 1/2 garage and it’s ridiculously small

My 2016 Ford Taurus 202.9

My 2016 Ford Taurus SHO that's 202.9 in long fits, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is only 193 in long. 2012 golf cart fit fine as well. This was in a patio villa that is on Burgos off El Caminon Real near the Polo field. We purchased a stop sign thing that the bumper touches for a perfect easy way to park. There's room to comfortably walk around the car with packages in hand.

It also depends on if they have moved laundry etc out into the garage. So make note of that.

Btw, it was a crazy, Uber tight fit at the town homes in Spanish Springs. They have the smallest shortest length garages. The Taurus SHO just barely fit with only about four inches distance to close garage door you could not walk around the car with the garage door closed.

The angle of driveway also is a consideration

Joper 03-06-2022 01:16 PM

I also have an Anaheim villa. I fit my older Rav 4 and two golf carts(one in front of the other) in with all my gardening tools, Christmas bins, etc. no problem.

Rsenholzi 03-06-2022 07:18 PM

Most driveways in Courtyard villas are curved. As a result, you need to be able to menuever your car which will take some doing especially if your washer/dryer are in the garage. I have a 2 car garage and depending the way I pull in , sometimes I have to back out, pull forward and back out again. I suggest you find someone with a 1 1/2 car garage to try it. Most people in my villas end up putting the golf cart in and leaving to car in the driveway. The other thing is depending on how big your house is and how much stuff you have , ask yourself will you need it for storage also. If the answer is yes then no you don’t have enough room

Traveler1689 03-07-2022 11:24 AM

We get our Jeep Grand Cherokee, TWO golf carts, 7 bikes and 2 vertical racks for storage in our 1.5 car garage.

Dr.Butler 03-07-2022 04:25 PM

I just wanted to say, thanks for all the posts. I am hopefully going to be closing on a home in the Village of Duval by the end of the month. I felt the size may be a bit tight with the Jeep and a Golf Cart, but I don't see it as a huge issue as I don't plan on storing/moving a lot from my current home.
