Irrigation Contractor Recommendation
 

I just called the Irrigation guy we have been happily using for several years to schedule the annual system tuneup and his message said he is booking six months out. As the great Bill Bilichick says, ability is worthless without availability. Can anyone recommend a good irrigation service provider that is available and services the northern sections of the Villages? Thanks : )

I use Massey for routine irrigation maintenance, which includes repairs as needed. If you only call someone when you have a problem, it will be difficult to get immediate assistance, and the price may be high and unpredictable.

I have Massey coming Monday for the first time.

They have a annual contract for just irrigation head adjustment and replacement.
They will come every 3 months or when needed.

I can't recall the price they quoted me, but I think every 3 month isn't necessary.

They come every quarter and check out the system. They charge 40 dollars for each visit, but if you have an issue, they will come immediately, and do whatever is needed for free or for a reasonable price, if they need to dig something up. You can get a 5 percent discount if you pay in advance for a year. But, I only pay them for each visit on a pay as you go system. If they don't come, they don't get paid. The annual discount is not worth it for me. If you don't have a regular maintenance service like that, you may have difficulty getting someone to come and fix a leak, and you really don't know what they will charge. So, you may end up paying $150 or so to fix a simple leak. For me, it is worth the quarterly charge to know that I have someone to call when I need them, and I don't need to be home when they come. Convenience is worth the cost.

I use Ray McClain, a Village resident. He’s an excellent handyman and does my sprinklers regularly. 352-460-2996.

Massey is probably one of the highest. But, if you wait until you have an underground leak, and call someone who you have never used, they may be too busy, and when they do come, you have no idea what they will charge. I don't know another company who will respond quickly and economically every time you have a problem. Having someone check the system quarterly and respond for repairs can provide peace of mind. My opinion.

Call Ed Booska of Rainy Day Sprinklers @ (352) 630-9619. He will even come out on a weekend for no extra charge. I've been using him for years and never been unhappy.

Stay away from a guy named Brian Johnson

Another recommendation for Simply Sprinklers - Brent Mauriell - 352-250-2573 - on time, great analysis/repair and took the time to explain everything in non-tech so that I could understand!

Irrigation systems are very simple to understand and only consists of underground (12 -18" ) rubber pipes, a screw on sprinklers. You use the key that you were provided to set the direction you desire.

What does this "Key" look like? Our home is a re-sale and I never received anything for the sprinkler heads. We have 1 or 2 that need adjustment, as we're watering the street...

Ha! Now that's funny. A good service provider that's available? Good people are busy and or pricey. Available service providers are either not good and or cheap. Pick which column to call.

Irrigation Service. My husband recently used this individual to perform some pretty extensive work on a yard irrigation system at a property that had been neglected for quite some time. He noted that this fellow will perform a tune-up/assessment of your system for $25. If determined that additional work is needed, an estimate will be furnished at the conclusion of the visit. If additional work is agreed upon to be performed, the $25 fee will be waived. He was very thorough, honest, and provided low cost solutions to get the system fully functional again. If you’ve got any issues and have been holding off for the an affordable opportunity…give Steve a call now.

I have Massey for lawn and bushes. The package I have includes a once a year irrigation check for free. I was told 5 were not working right. Change the heads on 3, completely replace on 2. I told him that I would get back to him.
I had action irrigation coming 2 days later to do my yearly inspection. I needed 2 heads replaced and he adjusted the direction of flow on some of the others.
The price from Massey was very high and I didn't need everything that he said that I needed. Action irrigation makes an appointment once a year with me. If you have an emergency, he will come. I make my appointment when he comes for inspection for the following year. His message does say that he is booked out for months. Massey knows lawns, but irrigation is not their best thing.
