Donations to Ukraine

I would like to send a donation for Ukraine but am unsure as to which charity is the best. Any suggestions please.

Went to Publix today and they are asking for donations to Ukraine . In the store not people outside asking for donations

Velvet 03-19-2022 01:16 PM

We give to the Red Cross. My uncle who passed away here in TV used to serve in the Red Cross. They continue to be reputable.

World Central Kitchen is an amazing charity that has been doing a lot in Ukraine and in the areas where the Ukrainians refugees are going.

TripAdvisor is matching funds to World Central Kitchen. World Central Kitchen

Doctors Without Borders and unicef both help. Local churches may also have contacts.

camaguey48 03-20-2022 07:11 AM

As always, beware of scammers. They are out there and waiting.

Jose Andres, renowned chef who is at Ukraine borders feeding the people. His charity is WCK and went immediately to set up feeding stations across and around the borders to help the people coming across. There are over a million people coming thru that are cold & hungry.

The CEO of the Red Cross makes close to about $700,000/year. Do you really think your donations are be directed to charity?

waterflower 03-20-2022 08:44 AM

Send money to your local community that is in need. You have no clue of what is happening in other countries. Stop feeding the beast. It amazes me how people are only motivated by a TEL-A-VISION. Take care of the poor people in your area.

It is so sad. There are always LOW LIVES stealing from those in need. I regularly wonder how low some people will go.

UNICEF is a reputable charity helping on the ground in Ukraine and Poland.

OhioBuckeye 03-20-2022 09:34 AM

Whatever charity you use just make sure your donation goes directly to Ukraine & not some govt. middle man that gets paid for doing something that’s suppose to go to the poor people of Ukraine. I knew a gentleman that was helping United Fund to help people & it went to Communist countries that there govt. was taking it & giving our donations out to who they thought should get it. Needless to say he quit the United Fund board. Personally I don’t trust our govt. any more than I trust Putin. God Bless the Ukrain’s!

Sadly, that is not unusual. You can easily research how much each charity spends on administration. Twenty percent is typical. Aid to Ukraine, how much of it gets there?
It is a war. A truck full of aid. Will the Russians let it in ? The Russians are attempting to starve people in Ukraine. As we did with the Berlin airlift, drop in food drugs and weapons? Between a rock and a hard place. We want to aid Ukraine and avoid WWIII.

Cherstubbs 03-20-2022 11:05 AM

World Central Kitchen is wonderful. Unsung heroes who are one of the first to arrive in any country to help feed people!

Congo 100K
Nigeria 51K

Samaritan's Purse and/or The Red Cross

macawlaw 03-20-2022 02:18 PM

Although not often mentioned, UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is at most disasters, and 100% of the money given for a particular use is used for that.

Another vote for Samaritan's Purse.

We choose the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund by Global Giving. CharityNavigator.org gave Global Giving one of their highest scores for accountability and transparency. Their expense ratio is a remarkable 97.8% and a leadership score of 100 out of 100.

There are 85 billion dollars worth of weapons and military supplies in Afghanistan. Perhaps they can be sent to Ukraine. Sorry, I take that back. They belong to the Taliban now.

Nick B 03-21-2022 07:53 AM

Maybe The Taliban could go whoop Russia again.

Nick B 03-21-2022 07:55 AM

Too brown for most here. Let's be real.

Before deciding to give to Ukraine, find out how much the war profiteers in D.C. have contributed. It's your money, but most of us have no idea where those donations are going. When you are talking about tens of millions of dollars, corruption rears its ugly head.

There is no shortage of causes and there never will be. As far a death tolls, food, medical supplies even weapons are of no use to dead people.

Far as Ukraine, many interesting things between the lines. NATO alliance. Members are offering MIG fighters, Russian built fighters. Will the Ukraine army be facing American weapons left in Afghanistan? Spies, there must be spies all over the place.

In places you thought there wouldn't.
