COVID Case Update

As most Villagers know, The Villages spans through three different counties. Here are the number of new COVID cases as of Mar. 30, according to the CDC website. In Lake County, there have been about 40 new cases over the last week. About 4 of those cases were admitted to the hospital, and no deaths

Florida has some problems reporting it's COVID numbers. It turns out several counties reported over 100% of the population is vaccinated. I think one even reported 200% vaccinated. And they are not going to look into why or what. Some are guessing it is snow birds and/or vacationers getting vaccinated here, and they got reported as residents.

Agreed

And who cares? Can we get past this or should you start reporting Flu and RSV cases too? If you are vaccinated you have nothing to worry about. Move on.

Martin, you wouldn't happen to have a link to that juicy statistic would you? Or did you hear it in the barber shop? You certainly wouldn't post a unsupported false rumor. I'm looking for data showing several reported over 100% [is that had one shot or fully vaccinated] and one county over 200% or nearly so

That's good for her.

Over 1,000 people died from Covid yesterday; for them it was something more than 10 times worse than the common cold.

I try not to post false information, I a certainly willing to admit when I am wrong - are you?

The report was by the PlamBeachPost.com, which is behind a paywall, so not not something I heard someone say.

Sorry to disappoint you.

That is the assumption made by the article, at PalmBeachPost.com.

And now we hear all the same posts we have heard for years. Oh well. Sorry to stir the pot. I should have known better.

What happens if you test pos with a home test and isolate for 5 days. This never gets reported. So, stats are all messed up. Plus hospitals get extra money for reporting Covid, even though someone came in for something else.

Stats are always all messed up with pandemic's. The is STILL a running debate on the numbers for the Spanish Flu.

That doesn't mean they are wrong, it just means they are the best that we can come up with, based on maybe things, like people not being diagnosed, and people having co-morbidity, etc. etc. etc.

I had the Rona as well. If God appeared and told me that I had to get the flu or the Rona, my choice, there would be no hesitation. I’ll take the Rona over the flu any day.

Please provide a link to the article. By the way, there is data and you can read it

HERE. Updated as of today.

One county just over 100% at 104 for having had one shot. Not multiple counties. None near 200%. None over 100% for full vaccination.

It is allowed to cut and paste a limited amount of an article. So if you can't link, you could cut and paste the paragraph that shows what you claim the article reports

My Google search was: "Florida vaccination rates over 100%" Without the quotes. I make NO claims to the accuracy of either article (there are more, keep scrolling through my search results).

And now we are finally seeing more reports on tests regarding natural immunity and how effective it is against hospitalization or death as vaccinations are. Everyone is affected differently. I’m just so glad to be living in our Florida state through everything.

Let's PLEASE move on from Covid.

Marine1974 04-01-2022 06:35 AM

Actually if you think about it , Covid cases are underreported due to many people with Covid and no symptoms do not get tested but spread the virus .
You might inquire with the health department about the sewage treatment plants , what they are finding when testing for diseases .

Marine1974 04-01-2022 06:43 AM

The hospital workers taking care of
sick Covid patients care . They Risk their lives and their families who they come home too .

Lindaws 04-01-2022 06:44 AM

Really ??? My mother in law was fully vaccinated and died of Covid!

Marine1974 04-01-2022 06:52 AM

ICU staff , hospital staff , doctors offices , nursing home staff , the paramedics and I’m missing many others who care about the risk of caring for sick covid patients . I can only imagine how they all feel
about folks that don’t care .

Sorry about your mother-in-law. Fully vaccinated and seemingly safe and one example why these vaccinations are useless. Again, very sorry and my condolences to you and your espouse. Faith over fear.

What an ignorant thing to write Here are several equally ignorant sentences:

I know a person who died in a car crash even though she was wearing a seat belt. Seat belts are useless

I know a person who died of pneumonia even though given antibiotics. Antibiotics are useless.

Unless you've had your head in the sand or your eyes on the wrong information sources, you should be aware that there is incontrovertible proof that the vaccines save lives, and reduce hospitalizations, That is the exact opposite of useless.

Please, if you don't believe in modern medicine and the science behind it, please do not burden the health care system with your disease when you are hoping it can cure you of whatever you have. Just take your ivermectin. And count on your faith over fear to cure you.

Thanks for at least being a google user. I see nothing in the snip you quote that says anything about several counties nor anything about a county near 200%. I see a reference to zip codes.

I did your suggested wording and got nothing other than those two identical stories, paywalled. I did find a report from the Florida Dept of Health from Mar 15 that did not show a single county over 100%.
http://ww11.doh.state.fl.us/comm/_pa...ata_latest.pdf

The phenomenon of some Zip codes having too many reported vaccines is not new. You can read a report, not paywalled, from Sep 2021 on how one zip code in Dade county had a vaccine rate of 2700%

Quote:

People age 18 and over in the 33122 area code had more than a 2,700% vaccination rate, according to the data.

Why is that zip code significant?

“That’s the airport,” Gelber said.

Miami International Airport has been a pop-up vaccination site open to anyone — not just county residents.

“I think what has happened is they have included all the vaccine tourists in the numerator but the residents are the only ones in the denominator,” Gelber said. “So the result is that you have these very, very, high vaccination rates because anyone who is seasonal or visiting are included.

Unless you have something more, we can put the topic aside as you have overstated your case.

Jacob85 04-01-2022 08:25 AM

People who are older and have had a booster have died. It’s interesting that with this older population they have minimized it the most! Sometimes I wonder how they lived so long!

Well, a better question is does it matter that the numbers are potentially wrong.

I expect it doesn't matter in the over all scheme of things. It is more sad that we can't even come up with an accurate count of residents and "others". But oh well.

I see some just asking if it matters at all because it is OVER, I guess I don't know if it matter, I would ask the families of the 5,000 people that died in FLORIDA last week.
