Walmart across from Colony closing this summer?

Someone told us that the Walmart on Heald Way on 466A is closing this summer. It was confirmed by a Walmart employee. Anyone else know anything? Are they opening a Walmart Superstore nearby?

It's only been opened like around 3 years. Strange.

Stu from NYC 04-06-2022 09:00 PM

It is rather small would hope it could expand into a super Walmart

Bill14564 04-06-2022 09:03 PM

From a 2/26/22 article in the online paper
... “special project rebrand ” ... Work is expected to begin in June and be completed by August.

Kinda doubt they could fit a "super" Walmart on that property + all the parking it would need. This tiny place often has a full lot.

jaj523 04-06-2022 10:09 PM

If it's closing for remodeling, that means it will open again. I sure hope so. I do a great deal of my grocery shopping there.

Two Bills 04-07-2022 03:30 AM

We do nearly all our food shopping there. Best store in town!

We’ve been using this Walmart for 5 years. It’s not the closest store to home but they really have their act together. I’m sure whatever they are doing with be worthwhile.

I never shop there. Very limited and way too busy.

NotGolfer 04-07-2022 01:53 PM

It's going to be remodeled! It was extremely busy during the "high season" here---try to find a parking spot was impossible. We go there because it's close by but it's not attractive when it's slammed like that. Wouldn't it be great if they build another one south of 44???

New Englander 04-07-2022 03:40 PM

I don't think there's any room to expand it. Maybe redesign the interior. Like others have said, sometimes it's difficult to find a parking spot.

LuckyS 04-07-2022 04:52 PM

Was just told by the pharmacy that they aren't going anywhere and not closing for renovation.

They are not closing, will remain open while remodeling.

ithos 04-08-2022 04:56 AM

In Fort Worth, the store stayed open.

The Neighborhood Walmart will remain open throughout the renovations, which are expected to be completed in mid-August.

Nobody shops there anymore, it is too crowded.

Upgrades at another Neighborhood store:

A spokesperson for Walmart said the renovations include updating the deli department and the online grocery pickup area, adding electric delivery van chargers to the parking lot, installing a new refrigeration system on the sales floor, adding a fresh food cooler in the pet department, remodeling the restrooms, updating the store’s sound system and more.

walmart will be closing many stores. Mcdonalds is closing many also. Do your research what these mega corporations do.

Save us some time and post links to the research you did.

bowlingal 04-08-2022 07:02 AM

remodeling and a second story to be added is what I heard

wamley 04-08-2022 07:41 AM

A two month Reno is a short time period likely reorganizing the refrigerator cases, shelving for better merchandising in some Debts and likely add a Dept that is not represented. Shutting down you can accomplish a lot more than trying to work around an open supermarket. Did many supermarket Renos in open supermarkets up in NY and scheduling is very difficult, particularly keeping it safe and sanitary.

justjim 04-08-2022 07:48 AM

Shutting down for two months and not shutting down while remodeling so posts say. Confusing information but not surprising. It is what it is…

wlasowicz 04-08-2022 09:24 AM

It seem everyone has a option what's going to happen. Time will tell what will happen and for the most part we don't have control whether Walmart closes or remodels

I’m glad they are upgrading the deli , because what we need in the villages is more OPTIONS for PROCESSED MEAT

Worldseries27 04-08-2022 11:09 AM

Which way did they go

People don't want to go there anymore because it's too crowded.

Been waiting for Yogi’s take on this Thread. :bigbow: That said, there will be a bit of inconvenience while they remodel for a few months but that will pass and all will be okay and perhaps better again. We do a lot of shopping there because it’s close and convenient. Summer is an excellent time for this because many in TV take their vacations during this timeframe.
