USPS sucks coming from lady lake station

Why do have to put up with suck horrible service from these gov employees. They won’t answer their phones. They mess up mail delivery almost daily. They place mail in the wrong postal box repeatedly. It starts from the top. This postmaster has to go. Move him/her/other to another station. We have to much invested in our homes to have such **** service time and time again.

MartinSE 04-13-2022 03:44 PM

Here we go again.

I can not remember the last time the USPS failed to deliver a letter or package to me. I am, talking about over the past decades.

I can remember a couple times they were a day late, a couple times.

After moving here, to a NEW area, with NEW postal station and workers, I had two packages in almost 3 years delivered to a neighbor, and I received two that were for other neighbors. That is it.

On the other hand, I have had probably dozens of packages LOST by FedEx and UPS. in the same time frame.

I m sorry you have had a bad experience. Your experience is not mine. And the postal workers here and in Wildwood have been excellent in answering questions and helping me when I needed it.

Feeling a little privileged? Seriously, move them to another station, what where poor people live?

What a nice person you are. I wonder if that has anything to do with the difficulties you have had.

Michael G. 04-13-2022 03:49 PM

Yeah.......as if we can do something about it.

Better yet, Why ask why?

Oh you poor soul there’s always one, guess you won the USPS lottery for employees to pick on. I live for my weekly trip to my mail box.

Didn't I read somewhere:
1. The mail deliverers aren't government employees. They're contractors.
2. The Postmaster General is/will be canned by the President.
3. FedEx and UPS will merge as a new company -- FedUp.

Overall been happy with mail service. Do like the app that tells me what is coming each day.

thelegges 04-13-2022 05:01 PM

Our postal station had issues with mail in wrong boxes, mail not showing at all, and lost packages that were UPS, Amazon, that were redirected to USPS. We have 2 wonderful and 1 really horrible person at our station.

On average many In our neighborhood, just took packages, and wrong mail to the correct address. It was faster and helped those who truly looked forward to their mail, ( birthday cards and such). I had one package that was delivered, to my mailbox, I finally got it 93 days later.

Then several, well many complaints went to the postal supervisor. 3 months later the person in question was moved to a new postal station.

Sorry OP you may have won the lottery and that employee, now serving your area.

Just a reminder the employees at your mailbox location are no postal employees but hired by private contractor.

Yes TV has been my home for 12 years, and didn’t mention they were postal employees.

However if you have a complaint you still have to go to the post office, to file a complaint about contractors at mail stations.

I like the app also. Only problem with it, not always accurate. While doing my taxes, I received a notice that a piece of mail that I needed was in the box. Went there three times and it wasn't there. I asked the girl that was working that day and she said it could
take 2 weeks before I get it. I also could have a problem, because if they put it in the wrong box and that person didn't bring it back, I may not get it. Sure enough, I didn't get it, so I had to contact the company and get them to send me another copy. I've never had a problem when advertisement showed up on the app or in the box!

njbchbum 04-13-2022 06:32 PM

My post office carrier and the girls in the customer center are the best on LaGrande! And Main P.O. Brian has always answered the phone and resolved my dumb customer problems which I created!

OrangeBlossomBaby 04-13-2022 06:41 PM

We've had no problems at all with our postal worker (I believe her name is Patricia, at the Paradise Rec area). She works hard, is efficient, usually has a smile for everyone, and is cordial but professional.

Nothing is perfect but it usually works, every once in awhile go to the box and the mail that was to be there did not come that day.

We are here just over two years and very often previous owner has mail coming to our box. Sometimes I find it in my box and sometimes not.

These days her junk mail finds it way to the garbage can but hopefully the garbage can police will not read this.

MartinSE 04-13-2022 10:00 PM

For those getting a notice that a piece of mail is there that isn't. I ask'ed our postal station person and she told me they scan the mail when they pick it up at the Post Office. That triggers the system to say it is waiting for you. Then they drive over to our postal station and sort it out and put it in the boxes. That can finish, sometimes, hours later. So, now when I get the message I wait a few hours before going to get it. Haven't had a problem since. I am certain that sometimes things get lost. But, not very often considering how much mail the PO delivers every day. I know that doesn't help when it is your mail that gets lost or re-routed.

If this is something that is happening often to you, then I would report it to the Post Master. And I would consider that maybe I ****ed someone off.

davem4616 04-14-2022 06:42 AM

what in heaven's name is so urgent about getting mail delivered by the USPO, in this electronic age, that you'd get wrapped around your jockey shorts about it?

LOL. Unfortunately, if you have an incompetent Government employee, the only way to get rid of them is to transfer them to another job, and, often, they get a promotion. In the Federal Government, it happens all the time. You can't fire them.

In general, I find that more than 90% of my mail is junk and I use the postal APP to decide when I empty the box. When I look at what is delivered, I see a collage of trash of different sizes, materials and volumes which must fit into ~ 4" X4" opening. Not surprising that the one important document could get hidden amongst this trash somewhere in the process.
I do not blame the delivery person but rather the concept of the USPS and its purpose. The current concept seems to encourage the junk mail simply to stay somewhat viable. Imagine the reduced work volume if the process changed. Efficiency, resources and costs would improve dramatically.

An extreme example is the delivery of some AMAZON items by the USPS. I order a pack of AA batteries for $10 on Saturday and I get a US Postal truck stopping at my house Sunday, with a Postal Employee then walking up to the front door and delivering the item. Sure, I am part of the problem and I could likely search for an option to prevent Sunday delivery.

But, as we all know, there are many forces driving this inefficiency.

I was under the impression that the postal station workers here are contractors, but I certainly could be wrong about that. My post still stands. Rather than DEMAND the problem be fix, which it should be, the OP demanded the bad employee be transfer to some where because they spent too much money on their house to be bothered with this." That is definitely a "entitled" attitude.

PugMom 04-14-2022 08:13 AM

what area do you live in? maybe the issue is 'your end' of town, they do quite well here, & must admit they go out of their way to deliver some of my pkgs. also, if the pkg is very large or awkward, offer a tip for the delivery person's effort--it works wonders! they DO remember you

I agree with the basic message in your post. Regarding the postal workers, some of the low level people who deliver the mail are contractor employees, but they still indirectly work for the Federal Government. But, the OP was complaining about the postmaster who is in charge of the Lady Lake Post Office. That person is definitely a Government employee with a lot of seniority and benefits. I was just joking about the absurdity of the Federal employment system, where, regardless of how incompetent they may be at the job, they are not going to be removed from the position like they would if they were employed in the private sector.

Nucky 04-14-2022 12:55 PM

Did you happen to catch the story a few weeks back about a carrier coming into mail stations before the regular people got there and were clipping mail that looked like cards that may have money in them?

If you were a victim of this then you may be able to see that the mail over here stinks. I am the primary mailman for a person on Oleaner because I GET ALL THEIR MAIL ON A REGULAR BASIS. I don't know why but it is NOT the regular lady named Patricia who makes the errors.

The lady, Patricia at Paradise who runs the show is a superstar. Much better than Cliff Klaven.

The design of the new Post Office in the Historic Section is a crying shame in my opinion. I'm not going to go into it but next time you need a book of stamps go for a nice cart ride over there and experience it yourself. The people are very caring though.

I feel for the OP. You are relating your experience and I get it.

I used to use the mail far more than now. Lost in the mail? I heard that many times from people who owed me money, The check is lost in the mail, My reply, it is simply amazing that bills always arrive. The post office, loses checks? Hum usual cause-never sent.

How about Newman now he is a superstar but not sure of what.

Very strange design of the new post office. Luckily we found a closer one and now no need to go there.
