Playing Executive Courses After the Starter Shack Closes
 

Is it OK to play the executive courses after the starter shack has closed up?

I searched the "Golfing in The Villages" website and I didn't see any mention either way.

Maybe call one of the starter shacks?

In a word, no. If you're already playing and the starter shack closes, ok -- assuming you are a Priority member or have paid your trail fee. Otherwise, you are trespassing, as I understand it. Still, some do. Actually, you're not even permitted to take an evening stroll or walk your dog there after hours. Ultimately, it's between you and your conscience.

Yes, I would go ahead and play. If someone tells you to leave, then you can leave.

We have had different experiences with the people in the starter shack. Once we went to Volusia and asked if we could play after the last scheduled group tees off. The starter said No, so we went over to Roosevelt and the starter said we could play.

Once we went to Marshview and the only group on the entire course was a guy on #10 giving a lesson to a group. The starter said we could follow that group. We asked if we could start on #1 because the group would probably be slow. She said No, so we played #10 and then skipped over to #2. She walked out to us and told us to follow behind the guy giving the lesson, who was now approaching #12.

So we walked over to #12 and the guy giving the lesson, who seemed to be a more experienced employee, was surprised the starter was being so fussy. Anyway, we skipped #12 and went to #13 and had a good round.

The moral is that each starter is different and we do what they say. If they do not say anything or if they are not there, we do what seems reasonable.

I used to do it all the time. Occasionally, an ambassador would come up and ask if my annual cart fee was paid and when I told him that it was he'd say, "Have a nice night".

It is better to apologize after, than be refused before!:icon_wink:

We tried to a couple times, but so many other people were it would have been too slow so we bagged it.

When you go out after 10 pm usually very quiet on the course. Some starter shacks rent night vision goggles

You don’t really need ‘em if you use those special bioluminescent golf balls. I understand that bioluminescent algae is used in place of (formerly) firefly tails.

They will ignore what they can as long as we don't do something like making it big deal here.

Might have been trying to squeeze you for beer money. $4 a pop adds up

I walk. So I see no reason I can’t play a few holes after the starter is gone.

Some Ambassadors relish having a little authority. Only the Championshio courses keep you from playing after the starter shack and golf shop close. If an Ambassador finds you playing on a Championship course after hours, he will issue you a ticket for you to pay the next day.

So, let me see if I get this right; if there is no pool attendant, it's ok to hop the fence and take a dip? If the rec center doors are locked but you find one open, you're free to go in and plug into their WIFi and trespassing doesn't exist?

If there is no starter, there should be no starting; it's trespassing, pure and simple. My experience is these folks who do this are the ones who leave tees scattered all over the tee boxes, drive their carts over the fairways and leave divots and ball marks for the AM ambassadors to clean up. Not to mention that they are also the ones whose trail fees are subsidized by the rest of us and who bring their guests when they don't have to pay guest fees. There, I've vented; it won't change one bit of the behavior, but you are in the wrong, and you know it.

Let your conscience be your guide , no points if they don’t know you played, visitors play for free kids can also drive grandpas cart on the course . Play by the rules.

Last T time
 

We usually choose the last Tee time of the day - executive courses, and almost no fail, when we hit the second, third, fourth T, inevitably we will see one or more of the previous Tees with golfers coming on...like ants. Entitled!

Marsh View isn't an executive course. It's a Pitch -n- Putt.

It seems as if there are posters here who either have way too much time on their hands or they are just jealous that their own posts don't get as many looks or replies.

The answer is yes, you can play after the shack closes, but only the Executive courses.

It’s listed with the Executive courses and you book a tee time for it under executive courses although technically it is not. It is an 18 hole very short course with astroturf tees and decent size greens with a couple of bunkers. Walking only and there is a 19th hole that is a very long putting green
