Golf cart: Wanting cargo box for fold down rear seats
1 Attachment(s)
I have been looking for a portable cargo box to sit atop of the fold down rear seats of my golf cart to haul groceries, etc. I don’t play golf and don’t have a place for the mesh bag that attaches to a golf bag holder at the rear. I would like the cargo box to be portable and light enough to take on and off easily. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If what you are looking for is what is shown in the photo, these are typically bolted on to the cart, not easily removeable. The holder for the typically shopping bag holder can easily be added. The other alternative would be to do an internet search for golf cart accessories and see if you can find what you are looking for. Remember, if the tray comes off easily you could lose it on some of the bumps on the roads and paths.
If you just want a container that would fit on the planform shown in the photo I would use a plastic container, try Walmart. |
Couple examples here.

Thanks for the comments so far. I am looking for a box that sits on top of the kind of fold down seats in the photo. I have looked online for lighter cargo boxes but the ones I see don’t have holes or strong handles to secure it to the cart via bungee, etc. I’ll keep looking.
One could put a big cooler on the platform and secure the handles to the cart. That would be fine for groceries but probably not for other things that I might carry. |

I used a cargo holder made by Ford for their small SUVs when I had this type of cart

We purchased a nylon pet carrier from Walmart and strapped it (ok, cut four small slits) onto the rear seat.
It works great for our 17lb dog, or groceries, golf shoes, jackets, etc. It is quickly un-strappable. |

Take the measurements of the area and go to WalMart, Target or anyplace that sells the large Rubbermaid storage bins. You can always adapt something with those... And they are inexpensive...

Plastic storage container and bungee cord.

We use an industrial tote with folding handle and wheels. Holds one shopping cart of merchandise. Secure to the golf cart with 2 bungee cords. Light enough to be removed and rolls on wheels when pulled by built-in handle

Here’s a cargo carrier that I made from PVC pipe and connectors. I used Velcro hold down straps so it is easy to remove the carrier when I need access to the rear seat…

Thanks for the suggestions.
I ordered a Cargo Caddy box Cargo Caddie Box With Straps (Universal Fit) | BuggiesUnlimited.com and it’s good in the rear seats when they are folded down. It’s a bigger than what I need. But it’s huge to store in the garage when not is use. I am going to order this trunk organizer that holds 50 pounds Amazon.com and is collapsible when not in use. If this works, I’ll return the cargo box. |
