Reville Cafe

We’ve waited so long for a breakfast restaurant in the Southern Oaks area but I have to say I was very disappointed with Reville. Curious what others think?

Stu from NYC 05-27-2022 06:07 PM

Can you tell us what you found wanting there?

buzzy 05-27-2022 07:23 PM

Yeah, what did you have and what was so bad? I just discovered them by chance. The firecracker shrimp omelet was great, and I want to try lots of other things on the menu. Could be the best breakfast place around here. More interesting menu than all the others.

Mlr4343 05-27-2022 07:37 PM

Wife and I ate there this week. Busy place but seated quickly, nice staff, great OJ, fresh brewed coffees, and really good food. Will be back for sure.

thelegges 05-27-2022 07:59 PM

Eggs Benedict cooked perfectly, stuffed French toast, no need for syrup. Red velvet pancakes moist with cream cheese drizzle, .cream brûlée French toast better than having a dessert.
Omelets are good, but doesn’t stand out from other places.
Grits are good, but I do like flying biscuit better.
Eggs, bacon, potato breakfast good, but one can have that anywhere.

Many special pancakes and French toast you won’t find anywhere.
Lattes are good, but I would pass them over for their coffee. Breakfast and a bold blend, pot left at table.

Staff happy to be there, and the fresh squeezed OJ is unique.

Haven’t had any lunch items, still working my way through breakfast, which were sorely lacking anywhere in TV

Babubhat 05-27-2022 08:11 PM

So we have a statement that says nothing . That is the disappointing part

PugMom 05-28-2022 07:20 AM

it's so good we go a few times a week. the food is fresh, real & unprocessed. as stated above, service & waitstaff outstanding. perhaps op went on an 'off' day? even cooks get pms-:faint:

DonH57 05-28-2022 07:54 AM

I'm hoping to get back down that way soon to try them. Sounds like worth the road trip!:MOJE_whot:

Dr Winston O Boogie jr 05-28-2022 10:47 AM

We've eaten there twice and food and service were very good both times.

PugMom 05-28-2022 03:32 PM

this thread put the idea in my head, so we had to run over & have a late breakfast.i got the creme brulee' french toast, and you won't even need butter or syrup, they stand on their own. hubby had the corned beef hash, with eggs over easy, & child went with the cinnamon pancakes, EVERYTHING was made to order & delicious. if anything,..the place is always mobbed & can take up to 20mins to be seated. it's worth the wait. they have outdoor seating, but no pets allowed, so know that before you go

Have been there twice, breakfast & lunch. Both were great meals. Polite and hustling staff, properly prepared orders and reasonable prices. Looking forward to next visit. Perhaps you need to revisit.

FenneyFanatic 05-28-2022 05:17 PM

We have eaten breakfast there twice and loved it both times. Folks have different tastes, I suppose, However, it has never been my habit to post negative restaurant reviews publicly. After all, we are fortunate to have a plethora of restaurants in our community to serve us and should not do anything to stifle their business. These are hard working people who deserve to make a good living. If you don't like a place, just don't go back.

Since we have not eaten there yet why would I invent an experience.

So far seems like the place is doing well.

Have eaten breakfast there twice, both times service was great, wait was short, and food was very good. Glad to have a place close by to go eat.

The place was packed but seated quickly by friendly staff. The freshly squeezed OJ was the best we ever had- worth the visit all on its own! The menu items were not just breakfast and lunch but elevated, imaginative- I wanted to order all of them. If you order coffee, you get your own insulated carafe !!!

The cinnamon swirl “cakes” pancakes were OUT OF THIS WORLD- like they flattened the best cinnamon bun ever made and topped in with warm syrup!!

The Mystic French toast was a religious experience- thick slices of Challah stuffed with cream cheese and topped with sliced bananas and strawberries drizzle we with vanilla rum sauce!!!

The smoked Gouda grits made the angels sing as well!!

They are open 7am-2pm everyday- and are full almost from opening to closing but we’ll worth the wait. We went at 8:30 - so we sat at the counter!! Considering staffing shortages at most places- they seemed well staffed and the whole staff- from owner/manager to kitchen staff, assisted with serving the food to ensure it was “hot off the griddle”!!! To ensure their service was excellent to those seated, they weren’t able to open the outside seating on the east side of the building.

After writing this, I am now hungry and craving some more Reveille- think we will go back today for breakfast- OJ, an omelette and grits will hit the spot!!

See you there!!!

jparsoneau@aol.com 05-29-2022 06:02 AM

Went in there once. Did not know it was kind of breakfast only. They do have a few salads and they had a vegan cheeseburger and a burger with an egg. I did not want to either of those asked them for a regular cheeseburger or if I could get the burger minus the egg. and they said they would be happy to make me one. Mine and the wife’s food were both very good. Place was busy but they got us in quick and got us taking care of food was good in service so good

Ate there yesterday. Fantastic service, delicious food, reasonably priced. My new “go to” breakfast place.

I like to use trip advisor to get an idea of who his higher ratings and maybe a review for whats good or too avoid. But at The Villages everything is rated so high it's worthless and some of them are not that good

jimkerr 05-29-2022 06:28 AM

I’ve eaten there for breakfast and lunch. It’s been excellent both times.

terenceanne 05-29-2022 06:37 AM

Overall I give it thumbs up but the potatoes are those little square ones straight out of a bag - that lowers it by one star in my head :)

Sorry, I neglected to state the reason for my lack of enthusiasm. It sounds like their pancakes/French toast, etc. are the big draw for everyone, which I didn’t try. I got a scrambled egg dish which was supposed to contain mozzarella, basil and tomato but I had to dig deep to see any of that, a piece of dry toast (had to ask for butter which wasn’t even real butter), good bacon but horrible home fries. They were tiny little dried up squares poured right from a bag of frozen. Decent coffee and service. Not a bad place overall and I’m glad others are enjoying it because I certainly don’t want to see them fail. I’ll be sure to give them another chance.

One bad review out of 28 posts…..rather telling….

Reville

We went there this wk for the first time. Food and service was great. We will go again.

Timeweaver1 05-29-2022 10:14 AM

I ate there about 10 days ago. We were seated quickly. Fast, courteous and efficient wait staff, The food was very good - hot and tasty. Our food arrived very soon after ordering. Potatoes were a little dry but still I ate everything. Great place.

mikemalloy 05-29-2022 10:47 AM

I belong to a group who have breakfast together every Sat. We go to many of the Villages restaurants as well a others as far away as the Dam Diner. Compared to other places Reveille is in the 90th percentile. Despite this era of staff shortages, they had quick efficient service and the French Toast I had was delicious. Sometimes I wonder if posts like the OP aren't written by competitors.

IDK. So many high fat and sugar foods mentioned in the these comments turns my stomach. Yuck! Haven’t been there yet but plan to try it. Now just gotta work harder to have an open mind.

I was thinking the same thing. My breakfast consists of one cup of coffee. But, apparently, some people consume more calories at breakfast than I consume for the entire day.

Would hope they post the calorie and fat content so we would know what to stay away from. We really do not need a 1000 calorie breakfast to start the day.

you need more then a cup of coffee in the morning , it’s even more important as we get older , on an empty stomach you are burning up muscle mass that you haven’t replaced , I’m not for big breakfasts guy either but I have 3 poached eggs on dry wheat toast at different places once or twice a week ,, the other days I have bob evans 100% liquid egg whites with dry toast and banana at home , no matter what you have , try to have some protein and fruit in morning your energy level will go up , I lifted weights today and now going for walk around the loop at Edna’s with my breakfast and my protein shake I’ve just finished fueling my energy levels , it’s a must for a guy 83 and for whatever age you are

Paulm47 05-29-2022 01:26 PM

Ate there twice- basic eggs, toast, home fries and bacon. Service great and friendly. Unfortunately the bacon was lacking in taste and was dry and chewy. The home fries were not god either - small pieces and not tasty.

Wow seems like you are in better shape than most people half your age. Keep it up.

I really don't want my homes fries from the deep fryer. If I wanted french fries with my eggs that's what I would order.

Seriously? So if someone is in the minority with their opinion that automatically makes them suspect? I can assure you I am not a competitor. I thought this section was a place to review and comment on restaurant experiences. Guess not.
