The Dirty Harry movies did seem to go downhill in quality.

Agreed on Unforgiven. Great movie with wonderful acting across-the-board from Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and one of my all-time favorite actors Gene Hackman. But I'm still undecided if it was a western drama or the darkest of dark comedies.

Enjoyed Grand Torino a lot too.

Caymus 05-31-2022 11:39 AM

Pale Rider and High Plains Drifter.

Davonu 05-31-2022 03:47 PM

Unforgiven for me too.

It is easier for me to say I was not a huge fan of Pink Cadillac, as for the rest I love them all. Big fan.

Dirty Harry movies

Mleeja 05-31-2022 06:43 PM

The one I have watched the most is The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. Unforgiven is certainly up there. Let’s not forget Play Misty For Me. A very good thriller. There just to many to name…

A better question. What is the “worst” movie he was in? I vote for Paint Your Wagon.

1. Firefox for the aerial sequences which to me were better than anything before it.

2. All the rest. His westerns revived the genre, his law enforcement was the will of the people.

"dying ain't much of a living boy"
" I noticed that when people dislike you, they're not around very long either"
" you gonna pull them pistols or whistle dixie"

Just a few of the great lines coming from my favorite Clint Eastwood movie "The Outlaw Josey Wales"

Gerrys 06-01-2022 06:52 AM

Loved Grand Torino

NoMo50 06-01-2022 07:06 AM

Clint the Squint, 92! God Bless Him!

My favorite: The Outlaw Josey Wales—what a cast of characters . . .
"Get ready, little lady. Hell is coming to breakfast." (Chief Dan George)
Pale Rider, Unforgiven, High Plains Drifter, and the "sketti-Westerns" all Western classics.

“Unforgiven” is great. If you want to increase your appreciation of westerns exponentially, read Jane Tompkins’ little book “West of Everything.” It will help you understand the myth of the Old West and the reason for the elements that recur in the movies—why they move us. And if the western doesn’t move you now, read the book and maybe it will. Worked for me!

jjombrello 06-01-2022 09:48 AM

All of his movies are good, but I liked "Play Misty for Me". Excellent thriller.

That was scary!
First Dirty Harry, nor so keen on follow ups, Unforgiven, Josie Wale, etc. etc.
Very good as a film director as well

cswett5234 06-03-2022 10:37 AM

Grand Torino

Okay, let's be honest, who DOESN'T cry at the end of this movie? (you're lying, we all cried!). I like his salty disposition, yet his caring character for his foreign neighbors.

Grand Torino and Unforgiven are my favorites

"It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have."
best quote from Unforgiven

Michael G. 07-07-2022 09:28 AM

The early movies were great when Clint was young but today to see him so aged,
it's too depressing

have you ever seen the Enforcer?' i think it was the 3rd harry movie, but unique in that his partner was a lady, tyne daly. yes, some corny scenes, but enjoyable if you don't expect a lot, lol. clint has some good one-liners too

justjim 07-07-2022 09:47 AM

Couple of his of his last “the mule” and “Cry Macho”. Maybe it’s because it’s near the end of a “National Icon”

Taltarzac725 10-01-2022 10:12 PM

I have been watching Absolute Power again. I have not seen it in a few years.

MartinSE 10-02-2022 12:22 AM

For me the best was Paint Your Wagon. The rest all tie for last place.

Smalley 10-02-2022 02:50 PM

We really enjoyed "Absolute Power". Clint plays a retired master thief and Laura Linney plays his adult daughter. Excellent political thriller. Think that Clint was also the director.
