Well, it could mean the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.
Or a group of bench-rest target shooters.
Or a group of rimfire shooters who want to shoot Russians.:icon_wink:

ohioshooter 06-05-2022 02:41 PM

Double post

ohioshooter 06-05-2022 02:41 PM

😆 you guys are great. Alwann, you had all the words, just not in order. Rimfire Benchrest. Trying to find a place to compete when I arrive in a couple weeks.

I got a 10-22 that was Volquartsen customized back before he started making his own. Quite the tack driver, that.

Where do you shoot it. I see TV has 3 Airgun ranges, I may check that out.

At the Eustis Gun Club they have a group that shoots USBR, but I don't know if the matches are sanctioned.
I just checked the ARA website and it lists the Eustis Club holding sanctioned ARA matches. You have to be a member to shoot in the matches as the club doesn't allow non-members to use the facilities. A member can sign you in as a guest but if my memory is good, you can only be a guest 4 times.

At the Gateway Rifle and Pistol in Jacksonville they shoot IR 50/50 and they are sanctioned matches. I'm pretty sure they allow non-members to shoot in the matches. Their web site lists the Range Master's phone number and you could call for more info.

Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club located near Palm Bay, FL which is about a 2 hour drive, same as the Jacksonville range also shoots ARA matches.

Hopes this helps.

Big help. I’m An ARA registered shooter and have no problem joining the club if they have open membership. I’m 78 and won’t drive hours to shoot. I appreciate the time you took to reply. Thanks

As far as I know they have open membership. A call to the appropriate individual listed on the website will provide you with the necessary information about joining the club.

Check out the Villages Straight Shooters. VSS Club
A good, active club.

Straight ShootersThe

The Villages Straight Shooters host informal rimfire rifle competitions. However, they are offhand 25 yards competitions weekly over ten week terms. We also have pistol competitions and NRA Marksmanship rating shoots.

Just Google it, Tampa and many others. Or go to Russia???

ohioshooter 06-06-2022 07:08 AM

Thanks for all the replies. It looks like Eustis is going to be my best bet. I won’t be traveling to Jacksonville or Daytona. I have have 3 clubs around me now that I can get to in 30 minutes. I’ll miss that. Maybe I’ll take up golf “Not”.

Fastskiguy 06-06-2022 07:17 AM

If you're willing to switch to air guns there are matches 5 days per week spread out over 3 ranges within The Villages. There are 6 classes based on ability ranging from "just starting" to "never missing" and everything in between. The Villages Air Gun Club - Home

Joe,
Actually I’ve been giving airguns some thought. I will definitely check it out.

I’ll be doing that, I have enough. I buy online when I find a good deal.

You could shoot the little white ball.

Off my back porch into the lake at the Tennessee house. Floating target holders. Adds dynamic movement to the exercise.

sloanst 06-06-2022 09:04 AM

Good luck finding that shooter. When I first arrived at the Villages I was looking for someone that shot F T/R class and got zero replies.
You might want to contact the Ares Traing Facility in Leesburg, Fl.
Website: Ares Training Facility - Shooting Range, Firearms Training

The season starts Wednesday July 6 at Sugar Cane and there are shoots at Rio Grande Thursdays/Fridays and Rohan Mondays/Tuesdays. Matches start promptly at 9am and usually tapers off until conclusion at 11am. If it fits your schedule, next time you are in town it might be worth swinging by and just checking it out, there are plenty of people to chat with. A lot of the guys shoot "real" guns too although a fair number are like me and only shoot air.

Airgun ammo...the good stuff...costs $14 for 500!

I shot RFBR with a group of guys at Ocala Sportsmans Club but they were not interested in competitive shooting. I since gave it up but have a nice RF target rifle for sale. PM me if interested.

How long ago was that? We’re they ARA sanctioned at that time? It looks like they now have a couple matches a month. Sorry, I have all I need.
