Wheel Barrel

Good morning :)
I live at 509 Del Mar, so whoever took my black wheel barrel, please return it!! It was obvious it was not garbage because it was full of the debris waiting for the garbage men to empty it on GARBAGE DAY!!! If it was free, I would have put it out on any day besides garbage day! You know who you are so please return it and clear your conscience, thank you!

Around here, garbage day is the day you also put stuff out for anyone to pick up - that's how we "donate" a lot of stuff. IMO there is a good chance someone thought you were offering it up and did not mean to steal it.
Hopefully you'll get it back.

MrFlorida 06-13-2022 07:32 AM

If it was out at the end of your driveway and full of debris with the rest of your garbage, It's not unreasonable to think it was indeed garbage. Sorry for your loss.

Two Bills 06-13-2022 07:36 AM

Did they take the garbage that was in the barrow as well, or tip that out on drive?
If everything went, would assume not stolen, but "Garbaged!"

Keefelane66 06-13-2022 08:46 AM

Try using the paper bags for yard debris and save a wheelbarrow next time maybe

Bilyclub 06-13-2022 09:04 AM

No wonder contractors and car dealers make a killing around here. I'm waiting for somebody to agree with the OP.

Well, just my thought, but I'd not ever leave anything I wanted to keep at the end of my driveway. There's a lesson there.

Sorry but around here if you leave things out where garbage is picked up they will take it all.

Madelaine Amee 06-13-2022 11:40 AM

Every pick-up day I put "stuff" I no longer need at the bottom of my driveway and it all goes. What is the saying ... One man's trash is another man's treasure".

MartinSE 06-13-2022 12:41 PM

Rule here is, if it is on the end of the driveway, it is intended to be taken.

Been waiting a while to say that about "the mex", have ya?

Decadeofdave 06-13-2022 07:09 PM

I found out about the "everything is considered garbage". I put out the trash can full of trash, as we do up north, well, they took the can, I to learned a lesson.

Djean1981 06-13-2022 08:26 PM

The disposal company likely took it as trash...

I always thought that item is called a wheelbarrow.

CarrieOn 06-14-2022 04:31 AM

Funny.. I had all my beach stuff in a pile.. umbrella,chairs,wagon.. bags, blankets ..on the other side of my driveway waiting to get picked up on a girls beach day
on garbage pick up day..and someone stopped to ask if the chairs were still good..
honesty if they thought my stuff was garbage.. they may have thought yours was.
Just saying..

GOLFER54 06-14-2022 05:01 AM

The lesson to be learned here is, do not put anything of value in front of your home on garbage day.

or sadly you made a poir decision based on your communities actions. Did they leave out expensive equipment to accomodate their trash.
Next week im sending my mother in law, wheres poppa, out to test the garbage pickup theory

sdeikenberry 06-14-2022 05:23 AM

The garbage guys probably threw it in the truck with the rest of the garbage. That's the standard rule here in TV. If it's at curbside on garbage day it's up for grabs...if nobody takes it before the garbage truck comes around, they put everything in the truck...no matter if it "looks good" or "doesn't look like garbage." They pitch it in the truck with the rest of the trash.

bowlingal 06-14-2022 05:46 AM

dave....I was told when I moved here, if you use a garbage can for your trash, the garbage man will take the whole thing. This is not like " up north". some things are different here. Glorinh.... I am surprised that you thought it was ok that your trash in a wheelbarrow was ok to put out on trash day. The garbage men will take the whole thing, just like the garbage cans, and will not turn it over and empty it into the truck. Use your heads people!

banjobob 06-14-2022 06:12 AM

Not a smart move , it’s gone forever. Lesson learned lol

me4vt 06-14-2022 06:18 AM

They throw it in the dump! No one stole it to do a job because that requires Working!!

Villages Kahuna 06-14-2022 06:30 AM

You have no chance. One of many people who circulate the streets earlier than the garbage trucks take items that they think are usable that appear to be put out as garbage. That’s what your wheel barrow filled with trash looked like. So it’s gone.

Or as noted above the garbage men themselves threw the wheel barrow filled with trash into the garbage truck. That’s what they do. Either way, time for a new one.

So you are just supposed to put your trash out in garbage bags? Doesn't that entice the wild life to tear them open? I

Maybelle 06-14-2022 07:17 AM

Yes and old newspapers in a cardboard box. Life in the bubble and we have never had a problem with wildlife tearing bags apart

If someone was driving around, and saw it, wouldn't they dump what was in it, out, before loading it? I doubt the garbage people would clean up the mess the driving around people left..... so I'm going with the driving around people knew it wasn't a freebee, the garbage men took it. Sherlock Holmes

Most likely your garbage men took it away, assuming it was also garbage. Hauling the garbage out to the driveway in the wheelbarrow is one thing, but to leave the wheelbarrow there....just saying if I was the garbage man I'd assume it (the wheel barrow) was meant to go also. Doubt you'll get it back.

Thanks. That's interesting to know. We live in another part of Florida now and we have to set our garbage cans out the morning of trash pick up. If we try to set them out the night before the bears get into them. You wake up to trash strewn all over the street.

I had never heard of garbage men taking the entire trashcan - that is good to know!

GpaVader 06-14-2022 10:02 AM

I have heard the comment about trash cans as well but our neighbor has one that the trash guys empty and leave. Not sure if he has s discussion with the trash guys or how he manages to keep it...

Curtisbwp 06-14-2022 10:12 AM

Clear their what? I grew up in an environment where T.O.B. was an income or at lease supplemental income. (Top of Barrel) one man's trash is another man's treasure. In TV garbage pickers usually not villagers but outsiders looking for goods for repair and resale.

Why oh why would you put a good wheel barrel in with the trash? My guess is, if it was mixed in with the trash it was taken as trash.

I saw where a neighbor had trimmed all of their shrubbery, palm trees, and etc. and piled it up beside the road for the trash men. They loaded it by hand into the truck, then took a shovel and a broom and swept it the remnants.
I was flabbergasted! Maybe he tips them?

Trash cans are not allowed inTV because as you see in other communities, cans can stay on curbs for several days.
