Need Gutters. Any recommendations, in addition to what companies to stay away from. Thanks.

Stipes and Hills seem to be the heavy hitters around here. We went with Stipes and are very happy.

We used the Guru Gutter Guys, they are also the Roof Guys and the Solar Guys. We were happy and many of our neighbors went the same route.

We used Hills for some gutters in the front of the house, due to staining of the driveway, otherwise no other gutters installed. Not sure why you need gutters, I am actually considering removing the ones we had installed due to the additional maintenance. Make sure you consider where the water will be discharged and how it will be discharged. We have 3 underground drains, and I have had to dig these up, clean them out as the grass roots had completely plugged the drains.

We also used stipes. Great job. 4 years ago and no problems. Neighbors used them just yesterday.

TCRSO 06-14-2022 06:16 AM

We used Stipes. Good service, fast installation, competitively priced

RatattacK79 06-14-2022 06:37 AM

We used Watkins. Great workmanship and did the whole house for about $1k.
Large design and seamless, makes my facia look like crown molding. Definitely recommend

Something to think about before removing them. Look where the water will run off the roof. While looking to buy last year, I looked at a number of existing homes with and without. The ones without had ruts in the yards where the water ran off the roof. If your yard is landscaped and has rock there, you might be OK, but it is noticeable and pronounced. At least at the properties I looked at. Best of luck...

Bad Experience with A Action

At the recommendation of several neighbors, I called A Action. The owner came to our house, measured, and gave a bid, which I accepted. The crew was to return in a few weeks to do the installation.

After a month without hearing from him, I called and asked when I could expect the gutters to be installed. He replied that, after he got home from making the bid, he realized that he didn't have a ladder long enough to reach the gable of our Gardenia model house. I told him to rent one at Home Depot.

I've never heard from him again.

Unbelievable!

We also used Hills very pleased with their attention to detail. They used white gutters everywhere except in the back of our house, our patio has a brown frame so they used brown gutters against the brown frame instead of white. Looks better IMHO.

To whoever…if you’re going put up gutters (they take water and move it from where you don’t want it to where do want it) and choose to bury the downspout drain, use SOLID PVC and GLUE the joints—keeps roots out. Do NOT corrugated pipe (black rolled stuff is CRAP) as you WILL experience what this poster did—ROOTS—as it’s full of holes. Take the pipe out about 5’ from footing (you DO NOT want water next to house—another reason for gutters); dig a hole about 2’ x 2’; fill with CLEAN 1.5” river rock; run pipe to center of this Dry-well and cover with drainfield paper (keeps dirt out of rock and will actually “turn” most roots). I did this sort of thing for a living…for many years. And a Licened Home Inspector.

A-Action did ours, too. They had the best price and were prompt and did a great job. I would not use anyone else.. The 5" gutters have never overflowed.

Oldragbagger 06-14-2022 08:17 AM

We are getting gutters and drop down attic stairs installed next week by M&M Services. We went with them because I read a lot of positive comments about them on another site. So far our interactions have all been good and we were pleased enough with the price. Someone asked why we think we need gutters. For us it is because every time it rains water comes down in sheets onto our patio and also into our lanai. No matter how far back we put the furniture in the covered lanai everything gets wet because so much water pours in it floods.

I used Stripes who were wonderful. They even came back and replaced one of my gutters that got damaged when a truck backed into it in my driveway... for a very reasonable price.
The company is easy to deal with.

M&M did a good job for me and several neighbors.
