Looking for used golf clubs

Looking for used women’s (right handed) golf clubs. Just learning the game.

I would suggest looking at the "Nitro" set on Amazon for about $220. They are actually a nice beginner's set of clubs.

This topic is one of the most frequently brought up topics at this site. Beware you will be getting several different answers including new/used, lessons/no lessons, budget, fitted vs non fitted clubs, brand name vs non brand name.

Personally suggest taking lessons and going from there. Personally I would rather spend money on lessons, than clubs.

I agree with the lessons. But, I think having a new set of clubs, even if they are an inexpensive beginner's set, will be a psychological incentive to learn the game.

Papa_lecki 06-26-2022 03:59 PM

If I were starting to golf, and could afford it….I would take lessons, and ask the golf coach about clubs. And take his/her advice.

villagetinker 06-26-2022 04:38 PM

There are several sets of clubs for sale on this site, I did not check for Men's or Women's. I would at least go to one of the stores or pro shops to get measured, then at least you can get clubs that are the correct (or very close), and go from there.

If your wife is left handed, my wife could give some older clubs to your wife.

Maybe someone will give your wife some of their older clubs.

If you have a friend who knows about golf clubs, go with that friend to play-it-again sports to see what they have.

If I may suggest and offer what I did a few years back. I purchased a used pair of clubs from Craigs List and watched MANY YouTube vids. I bought shorts, gloves and shoes from Amazon. There is SO much out there for teaching a beginner on YouTube! I spent a few weeks watching - from how to hold the club, stance, swing and so on. THEN I went for a few days
and did some practice balls. It all was pretty good before I went and actually played a game on the green. Best of Luck!

I'm still looking for an AP1 Titleist W I lost at Bacall about 4-5 months ago because no one turned it in.

I found a set years ago at a thrift shop. You might want to call around first, but items are added daily, so you might want to check back with the shops every few weeks.

MrFlorida 06-27-2022 07:26 AM

Nextdoor.com..... I bought several used sets that I use for guests .

Actually this big mistake IMO. If you’re serious about Leaning the game you should be properly fitted with set of clubs. It will omit one of many mistakes you will have to correct down the road. :gc:

My wife has the best looking set in The Villages. Like new and inexpensive. Contact me at phranques1@gmail.com.

Foxtrot 06-27-2022 09:09 AM

My wife didn't like golf, we have a used set with bag we paid $50 for, you can have them for $50.

You can message me.

gighilton 06-27-2022 09:18 AM

Just beginning golf

A fitting is a waste of time at a beginners stage. Learn to swing
play for a month or two, then find some better clubs . I teach, take it from experience.

Try Johnnies Birdie Golf on 466 in Lady Lake. Huge selection, and there is something there for every budget.

I have been golfing for 40 years. Went to Marion Marketplace. That guy is selling mostly very old equipment. Some 40+ year old clubs have original grips. If their is rust in a golf club it will be on the inside of the shaft. A flying head is not pretty. Use your own discretion.Noted that other posters are looking to sell(what I believe) newer clubs including the bag for <$150.

Ironnan 07-03-2022 03:42 PM

I have a women's set

Playing Pickleball now, no time for golf. Custom set with putter and bag. $75.

Go to Goodwill, Thrift stores etc.

Have someone who plays golf with you. Pick out a Driver, or 3 wood, a couple irons and a putter. Prices range from $5 to $15 . Don't worry about what they look like. You need to go to a clinic somewhere and see whether you like the game enough to make an investment in better clubs. Most people spend much more for clubs than their skill level will ever justify. Spend the bucks on lessons or clinics if you really want to learn the game. It's very hard game but worth a try.
