Big govt wants us to recycle those old batteries. But they sure make it hell and hurdles galore to do 'what is right'
I have almost a ton of old lead acid. I am not bringing them back one a week. |

OP, if these are the typical AAA to D alkaline batteries, I have never seen recycling for these. Lowe's has (had?) battery recycling drop off at the customer service area, but this was limited to certain types of batteries.

Batteries
Any junk yard, scrap metal yard, etc, should take them and pay you for them.

Normal alkaline batteries don't get recycled. They get put in the trash. Rechargeable batteries (lithium iOn, etc) can be brought to Staples. You can drop them off at the front desk. But make sure they are ALL rechargeable, otherwise Staples is fined by the recycle folks for sneaking in the alkalines. This is a free service to the public.

Where does that big gov't intend to dispose of those batteries from electric bikes, scooters and cars, etc? And where are the windmill blades going to be disposed? |

These batteries can not go to a regular landfill....so imagine millions of these batteries need to be disposed of in the future. A friend had to get a new battery for his vehicle and the cost was unbelievable...dont know if that was a special case or what they really cost |

I think they're going to go into peak plants, places where electricity can be stored until needed. It doesn't matter too much if only 1/3rd of the original energy can be stored, they just hook up all of the old car batteries and are ready for a heat wave, day with no wind, or rainy day. Say it with me...."Peak Plants!"

Sumpter Cty. has a Recyling event about 3 or 4 times a year at a location between Leesburg and Wildwood. You have to keep your eyes open for a notification as to when it will be held. They will take all kinds of batteries and etc. I was turned away at the one on Rolling Akers Rd. because I had a Sumpter Cty license plate a few years ago.
