Anyone know what the delay is on rt 27 (the strip)
We haven't seen anyone working on this road for about a year. Any thoughts? |

At least, they will be working on it for one week (Aug. 7 to Aug 13), supposedly.

Oh good grief! Lighten up!!! You're retired and if you really truly cared you'd attend meetings that addressed the issue. You don't. So just let it be. *sigh*

Breathe, it was just a question

Florida has to be the slowest state when it comes to road construction. Down in Fort Myers Beach there's a road called Estero Boulevard it's about 3 miles long and was being resurfaced and new utilities and sewer. It has been over six years and they still don't have it completed!!! Back in Minnesota they build and rebuild hundreds of hundreds of miles of roads every season… And that season only lasts for about three months.

Perhaps they could focus on one road at a time. In one section of that road. Get one area done completely before moving on to the next section. Reduces overall congestion.
Don't start a new project on 44 until 441/27 is 100% done. |

No reason to keep delaying traffic so long. Maybe it is Green and good for the environment to have cars waiting everywhere for 3 miles |

Private company would have it done in 6 mos at much lower costs |
Back up north they have to rebuild roads somewhere after almost EVERY winter! The roads that I traveled on in CT were always full of bumps and cracks. It's been a pleasure driving on the road surfaces here in FL for the past 12 years. I'm sure that a good portion of the taxes up north take that road reconstruction/repair into account - and is probably why our taxes down here are considerably lower.

I work for a public institution in Leesburg and asked the same question about 441. As a new citizen of the state, I was informed that Florida budgets for projects based on a section or phase and does not budget and secure funding for full projects. I was told that they will allocate enough money in a budget year and the work is performed until depleted.
This sounds like a completely ridiculous policy. I had several other locals who work for government confirm various aspects of this watered-down explanation. Florida. Quote:

That plus there was a major slowdown due to the pandemic due to lack of workers for many reasons. |

And just who is accountable for the reality of the situation?
There has to be a person somewhere, probably an elected official, who can be asked why such an incompetent project is allowed to continue! |

if you are concerned
they get an email out to the state roads division and ask WHY!!!!! we certainly can't tell you.
