Another golf cart stolen in about a week

Cart was stolen in the Village of Collier at about 4am.
Must be the same guys that stole mine, :ohdear:

But they were on camera, reports one cart thru gate and two leaving together at 4 am.

It appears a village resident may be part of the ring if they drove in on a cart.

I haven't heard anything from the police on mine.

EdFNJ 08-09-2022 04:35 PM

That's why I would leave my CAR out and CART in if we didn't have a 2 car garage. Stealing a cart is like shoplifting a paperback book (if they still existed). Leaving a cart out overnight is like saying "come take me" if someone is "shopping" the neighborhood.

Several places where a cart can be driven into TV. Big jump to accuse a villager.

Too easy to steal golf cart when it is parked outside. Pick up truck and ramps is all you need.

Bilyclub 08-09-2022 05:45 PM

A lot of outsiders come into TV on carts, especially around Brownwood.

Djean1981 08-09-2022 06:09 PM

You would think that the carts would be spotted in Craigslist or Offer Up..? Unless, they are getting them out of the area..

From where? And at what access point?

Really? Up in the north end, they trailer their cart to the Publix parking lot on 441, unload and drive all over The Villages. They can do that anywhere or just drive a cart across 441 to SS or 44 Brownwood. There is no security here

From Freedom Plaza on 44 they ride on the grass to the Brownwood Hotel/Advanced Care parking lot. From Beaumont on 466A they come in on Pinellas.
Golf carts are legal on city roads in Wildwood.
Sec. 12-155. - Operation of golf carts on public city roads.
new

Time to move into a real gated community? It will only get worse from here.

Yep-----2 stolen golf carts out of 50,000+. Chicken Little, the sky is falling!

ThirdOfFive 08-10-2022 05:47 AM

Time for one of those "anti-theft devices" such as the one in the original Robocop movie.

richs631 08-10-2022 06:02 AM

You can install a very advanced GPS in the golf cart. About $10-$15 bucks a month for complete monitoring on your cell phone.

DiandJay 08-10-2022 06:12 AM

I have actually seen a golf cart scoot across Miller Blvd. It was driven in from Timbertop Ln directly on to Drake Drive entrance.

Tonydivo 08-10-2022 06:36 AM

Best devise to track golf carts? Any advise

Tracker for golf carts ?

bowlingal 08-10-2022 06:36 AM

EdFNJ....paper back books still exist of course. Much prefer a paperback book than a kindle. And you can find them anywhere.

So is it legal to to cross 466A on Pinellas to get to Lowes & Trailwinds Plaza?

That is why I wrote "Maybe these people were released from jail" with a smiley face.

But if you goggle, you can find more recent reports about stolen carts.

jimbo2012 08-10-2022 07:59 AM

You know thieves retire too!

Just heard another on Ducksbury, fernandina.

So that three in 10 days.

How many are stolen that aren't reported on the forums?

CappyRam 08-10-2022 08:02 AM

AirTag it problem solved. One time cost

OhioBuckeye 08-10-2022 08:45 AM

and never find the cart

Keefelane66 08-10-2022 08:58 AM

Paying almost up to 20,000 for golf care and no standard anti theft, transmission lock, steering wheel lock as found on the least expensive motor vehicle. A base price Nissan Centra 20,600 with air conditioning.

When outside your Blue Tooth Range, the Find My Network is used to find the general area that the airtag is located (similar to find a specific contact). This works at Great Distances" . Once you get close, it can switch to bluetooth for an exact (close to) location. AitTags would be useless for anything other than find my keys is it were limited to 35 feet.

Regardless of the class and distance, Bluetooth is not the sum of an AirTag, and both Find My and ultra-wideband are designed to help where Bluetooth can’t. For example, when outside of the Bluetooth range, the Find My network can be used to find the general area of an AirTag, making it possible to initially locate a lost or missing item from great distances. Once within range, Bluetooth can take over. Then, when within a close enough distance of the device, the short-range ultra-wideband helps to ensure the exact location of an AirTag can be identified, even when Bluetooth is having issues pinpointing the item.

When you find Pollyanna Villages ...Let us know!!!!:bigbow:

jimkerr 08-10-2022 09:42 AM

The one in Collier was left outside and even had golf clubs left out in the cart. People are just asking for trouble when they leave their carts outside overnight.

Sunflower1 08-10-2022 11:11 AM

I know it is a long way away, but I see people from Lakeside Landing drive illegally on Rainey Trail and entering from Lynnhaven Lane or from behind the drug rehab place. Yes, best to keep your golf cart secured at night.

We have what they call a 1 and a half car garage. There are 2 carts and an SUV in the garage, it's tight but they fit! If I had to leave a cart out, I'd sell it first! I did have a Fiat that couldn't be put in the garage with 2 carts however during hurricane season, a snowbird let us put one cart in their garage. My husvand was able to get the SUV plus the one golf cart and the Fiat in the garage. (I was shocked...)

joelfmi 08-10-2022 01:27 PM

where is the gated community advertised.

bark4me 08-10-2022 01:53 PM

I strongly suggest to everyone to have a GPS tracker installed on your golf cart. There's a company called Waresafe.com that sell GPS trackers for your car, motorcycle, golf cart and RVs

Larchap49 08-10-2022 02:47 PM

Stolen

They more than likely strip them and sell the parts. Much easier than trying to sell a stolen cart that is identifiable by a number

You are WRONG it's not a drug treatment facility: Select Specialty Hospital – The Villages is a 40-bed free-standing critical illness recovery hospital located within The Villages retirement community. We specialize in helping critically ill patients breathe, speak, eat, walk and think as independently as possible.
My wife spent some time their after surgery for physical therapy!

You evidently don't understand how airtags work. ANY IPHONE (or iPad or Apple laptop), NOT JUST THE AIR TAG OWNERS IPHONE, BUT ANY IPHONE, that passes it within the 0-30+ foot range will send the location to the cloud and it can be found with FIND MY. Of course if the thieves put it in a garage and either strip it for parts or NEVER take it out on the road you would be right unless a friend visits the thieves home with an iPhone on him or her.. ANY Apple device that goes near it will send it's location and there are billions of Apple Devices around the world. As I mentioned in another thread I have one on my cart and can 90% of the time see exactly where it is at any time because there are multitudes of iPhones everywhere. If there is no Iphone passing it for 2 miles eventually one will at mile 3. Yes, if there wasn't any iPhone that ever passed within up to 30 feet of it you'd be right but those chances are quite low out in the public (shhhhh, don't tell my wife .... just kidding, she's aware of it). Of course one won't be able to track their pet cockroach or rabbit on their property unless it runs out into the street where people are carrying iPhones. The range on AirTags is functionally infinite as long as there's someone with an iPhone nearby.

Some "pros and cons": Apple AirTags are being used to track people. Here's what is being done about it : NPR
