Red Fox Hole 9 blind shots

You can't even see the flag on hole 9. Isn't that ridiculous for a par 3? You can't even see if people are on the green. FInally had to drive up past the bushes to see the green. Then back again to the tee.

You wouldn’t like playing Pelican.

As of last week, I haven’t had any problem seeing the flag from the tee box.

AZ SLIM 08-13-2022 04:32 AM

Yep. I was there yesterday. I'm 6ft tall and can still see the flag, barely. a few more days of growth and I won't be able to see it either. I can't see if anyone is on the green without moving up the cart path a little way. With my 5 iron we were certain that I had cleared the swamp without going over the green, but alas, the ball was not to be found. Another contribution to the swamp monster. With water in that pond I don't see how they can do anything with the weeds until they die on their own this winter.

My wife said what's the problem?
She hasn't seen a green on most courses for years because of failing eyesight.
She knows the yardage, I line her up when required, and watch the flight, and she hits about 80% of greens each time, and worse still, she can putt!
She cannot see, but can hear a pin drop.
I am profoundly deaf, with 20/20 (nearly) vision.
We are the perfect couple!

Call the director of executive course maintenance. He can do so much more than any of us posters.

Then the complaining will begin that the weeds were removed because the snowbirds were beginning to arrive for the season.

Just hit the ball and move on so the next in line can hit theirs. Don't want to hold up the game.
😏

But then that person wouldn’t be able to get on here and complain.

They can take some shears out there and trim them if they want to, but again, they couldn’t complain…..

Are you kidding ? what direction were you facing

Babubhat 08-13-2022 02:49 PM

No one behind pal.

There is a small gap to the right through which you can see the green (but not the flag). Hit in the gap and you have a 30 foot putt - no problem.

Aim for the big tree right of the barn, put a small amount of draw on the ball and bingo, right into the swamp.

Wilson02852 08-14-2022 09:05 AM

Why don't you stick with pitch and putt courses?

Imagine the hardest part of your day is not seeing the flag on the 9th hole. I’m usually thinking about lunch by the 7th hole

Why must responders be so mean??? It’s so easy behind your keyboard. I always say I could start a post “it’s a beautiful day in The Villages”. And some crabs would say “no there’s a cloud”. “no the Developer told you to post that”. “no I see dog poop”. Etc etc etc

Dennys37Packard 08-14-2022 11:31 PM

Oh the Humanity of it All. Plenty of other courses. Some of us like a challenge . I think the golf cart can make a U turn after you see where the green is. Just saying

GpaVader 08-15-2022 06:50 AM

You can usually see it just fine from the Black tees, you are right about the Gold tees. I just make a habit of looking from the Black as I approach. If its going to be awhile I'll hang back until they start to walk off.

You must have been exhausted!

The weeds will be long gone before this thread is dead.

ProfZ 08-15-2022 08:37 AM

I have played Red Fox at least 3 dozen times over the past few years. Never had a problem seeing the green or the flag from either the black or gold tees. Has something changed in the last 2 weeks???

The vegetation gets high in the pond. It will be cut back soon.

AZ SLIM 08-16-2022 04:46 AM

Yesterday the flag was on the right side of the green and from the right side of the gold t box we could see it and some of the green. Easy Peasy. My shot went left of the cart path anyway. So much for the importance of a clear view to the flag.

Maybe we should rename this forum to, “Whiners of the Villages”.
