Wow... Both Squares are empty tonight !!!!

I looked at the web cam and found Spanish Springs totally dark and Sumter Vacant. What gives ?????

Has the Villages closed ?????

Ajack 11-13-2010 05:44 PM

Probably because President Bush is a hard act to follow?

Seriously, there is the Lenny Wilson Quartet at LS. And there is a DJ at SS.

pooh 11-13-2010 05:47 PM

I know entertainment is scheduled, but there are no performers on the web cams.

Pturner 11-13-2010 05:51 PM

... And the webcams make them look like they are at least two time zones apart!

TommyT 11-13-2010 05:52 PM

I just looked again. In Sumter there is a guy with a broom and dustpan sweeping up and Spanish Springs is still pitch-dark.. strange

jojo 11-13-2010 05:59 PM

Just came from LSL where we had dinner. The music is over by Red Sauce. They often relocate there when they are assembling or disassembling for a mega event.

TommyT 11-13-2010 05:59 PM

Now the SS camera is out of focus badly.

Whomever operates the SS camera should read the instructions again. It burns me to see the camera pointed at a rooftop, a palm tree, the street, etc., and really at closeup.. WOW

:cus:

Okay, I'm finished venting now... bye

Thanks. Do you have any idea about what's going on or not going on at SS entertainment wise?

LOL, I was just about to say the same thing, when I saw you post. I check the webcams every evening and got a little worried, nothing happenin on a Saturday night. Yikes. :ohdear:

cherylncliff 11-13-2010 06:41 PM

Empty Squares

I wonder if it could be related to W's visit?

barb1191 11-13-2010 06:46 PM

I see a lot of white socks at SS. :1rotfl:

sandybill2 11-13-2010 06:53 PM

We just got back from Spanish Springs-- Entertainment was "Sensation Duo"- A guy and Girl-. Not many people there but the music was good.

pooh 11-13-2010 06:54 PM

SS looks alive now. Wonder if there was a power outage for a while....there were no lights on anywhere earlier in the evening.

Pturner 11-13-2010 07:04 PM

Still looks like Midnight in the Garden of Spanish Springs.

Barefoot 11-13-2010 07:29 PM

Everyone went to bed early, resting up for the Golf Cart Parade on Sunday!

ducati1974 11-13-2010 09:10 PM

How do you access these web cams?

eddj02 11-13-2010 09:13 PM

lsl-ss

could you tell me how togo to web cams on my laptop please eddj

Pturner 11-13-2010 09:13 PM

Ducati,

Here's a link for you...

http://www.thevillages.com/lifestyle/cam_lsl.asp

Below the video feed is a link to go to the webcam for the other town square. Enjoy!

ducati1974 11-13-2010 09:25 PM

Thanks, Pturner -are you able to make the video bigger than the approx. 2"X 3.5" view that I'm seeing? Do they vary the view or is it usually the same?
Ducati1974

Pturner 11-13-2010 09:33 PM

No, you can't change the size. It opens in a window that is not scalable. I'm not sure if they vary the view at LSL. I don't recall seeing it change.

As for the one at SS, as TommyT pointed out earlier in this thread, sometimes the SS webcam operator can remind you of a "this is your brain on drugs" commercial. :loco:

Well, in fairness to TommyT, he didn't actually say that. But, if he had, I would agree.

kaydee 11-13-2010 09:35 PM

When I go to the above mentioned site by Pturner all I get to is a Yahoo site. Is there some other way to access the web cams?

There are ways to enlarge, however it becomes extremely grainy. If you can bring it up on either Internet Explorer browser, or in any picture editing software where one can enlarge the pic (like Picasa or Adobe) that also works, but pic still not very clear. ...barb

aln 11-13-2010 09:54 PM

Everyone look tomorrow (Sunday). Norman Lee & the Boondock Saints willl be at Spanish Springs. The crowd will be better.
I live in Mira Mesa and go to SS VERY often. But Sensation Duo & cool temps kept me away today.

eddj02 11-13-2010 10:16 PM

If you are using IE 7 or 8 you can hole the ctrl (control) and roll your mouse to make the image larger or smaller. On the LSL cam I can go up to about 180% and then things get really grainy. On the SS cam you may just want to forget playing around with the size as most of the time at 100% it is not clear.

One thing on changing the size don't forget to change it back to 100% or when you go to other web pages such as TOTV the fonts and layout will be at the size you were playing at.

Also in the lower right corner of the IE 7 or 8 browser screen you will see a percent figure. Make sure that is at 100% when you are done playing and everything will be fine.

You will have to cut and paste the link line into the URL line of your browser or right click on the link and select "open in new window". That should get you there.

Yep, all the Republicans were so exhausted they went to bed even earlier than the usual 8 p.m.

LOL I am not that prolific. I started here before I moved. I just didn't know about the curfews. Maybe it is all the Koolaid Villagers drink?

chuckinca 11-14-2010 01:12 AM

Yep - 9 PM and they roll up the sidewalks in TV.

Some Karaoke places are open later and I heard that Applebys bar is open until 1 AM.

The quickest way I have found to view the Lake Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs webcams is to go to The Villages website homepage (www.thevillages.com). Click on the temperature that is displayed in the upper right hand corner of the page. This will open the LSL web cam in a separate window. To change to the Spanish Springs webcam just click on bottom of the LSL webcam page. You can toggle back and forth between the two of them. Works great for me.

Here is the link to the web cam's. Either click on the link or copy and paste in your browser. Notice this link is for Sumter, however look at the link just below the picture and that will take you to Spanish Springs web camera.

http://www.thevillages.com/lifestyle/cam_lsl.asp

Several ways to enlarge the picture. One way in IE is by going to the top of your screen and click on "View", then "Zoom", then enlarge it to whatever percentage you feel like viewing. Remember, the larger the picture, the larger the pixels will be and the more out of focus.

When finished, do the same again and return the setting to 100%. Have fun.

C ya - bye

NOW THIS IS STRANGE ++++ When I click on the above url, I'm redirected to a yahoo webpage. But when I go to the web cam through the Villages/Lifestyle/town squares..... I get the same url and can see the cameras ++++ strange#!#$@##%%

Am I the only one? When I click on either of the links posts in this thread, I am taken to the Yahoo home page.

As many of you know, for unknown reasons, TOTV has been blocked by the Villages from allowing links to most of their sites from here. Maybe they decided to insert a redirect to Yahoo rather than cycle back to TOTV, as it has been.
