LSL market square

Went to LSL tonite. I couldn't believe how crowded it was. Even the cart and vehicle traffic was outta sight. I'm thinking apartment dwellers. When the snowbirds get here in full force, and more apartments are built......well, you know the rest.:boom::shocked::(

Stu from NYC 10-06-2022 02:44 AM

During snow bird season when there is a popular group playing do not think apartment dwellers will be happy with traffic.

Second time in the last two weeks.....................

The sky is falling, The sky is falling.

Must be true.

LSL is always busy. More shops, restaurants, etc. there than the other two squares is one reason. I prefer Spanish Springs; a lot more laid back AND they have Kilwin's.

Isn’t that what we want, vibrant town squares?
Or there are posts that LSL is a ghost town, the developer will close it.

Apartments at LSL??? Hmmm...I must have missed them. Either that or failing eyesight :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

PS: Rocky and the Rollers were playing there last night, and the weather was perfect.

Yeah, that and the effects of Global Warming and the depletion of the Ozone Layer.

It is not like the good old days:

Bilyclub 10-06-2022 08:23 AM

Definitely a few more persons possibly from the big apartment complex to the East of LSL.

billethkid 10-06-2022 08:30 AM

Apartment dwellers.....hardly.

Without even thinking about apartments.....keep in mind the slow season population of today is larger than the busy season of 5 plus years ago.

The 300 homes per month being sold and closed per month add to the population way....WAY.... More than the apartment factor.

Popular group, great weather and snowbirds back to the villages will always yield crowds.

MrFlorida 10-06-2022 08:55 AM

Rocky and the Rollers usually pack the place.... not surprising it was crowded.

dougjb 10-06-2022 11:06 AM

Is LSL that place just this side of Sumter Swamp?

I don't know how I did it...but I think I am on the naughty list for the Village's Real Estate salespeople!

That wouldn't bother me.................hope you are okay with Santa.

PugMom 10-06-2022 12:21 PM

the sumter square is always packed, it has the most available from the boardwalk, boat, stage, eateries & shops. i prefer it above all else

It's not very crowded and almost sparse when the jazz ensemble is there.

Rainger99 10-06-2022 01:16 PM

Send the overflow to Sawgrass - when it opens up!!!

I assume you spoke to most the people at the square and they all told you they live in apartments. Ridiculous

Suzay 10-07-2022 06:11 AM

[QUOTE=paulajr;2144142]Huh?? Sawgrass IS open/QUOTE]

The entertainment square is not open. But the food court is open. I don’t think a lot of people go to Sawgrass for the food court. I think the main draw is the entertainment which is “coming soon.”

Villages Kahuna 10-07-2022 06:56 AM

Wait until high season.

Get some good books or pick some movies on Netflix or Prime Video.

Never seen the draw of LSL. I've been there like five times and yes maybe....MAYBE they have more places, but nothing that stands out as unique and not available in Brownwood or Spanish Springs. Since moving south I've really come to appreciate the laid-back settings offered by places like Edna's and Fenny Grill. Sawgrass Square entertainment will come soon in the meantime the eating area is fun and refreshing. I always have the option to get in the car and drive 20 min up to LSL and watch the rat race.

Chi-Town 10-07-2022 07:13 AM

Rocky and the Rollers and Market Night. Throw in beautiful weather and what do you you expect. Sawgrass Grove is not designed to be a major entertainment venue. Will have to wait for the fourth square planned sometime in the future.

schrdr 10-07-2022 07:59 AM

I noticed that there is a lot more cars parked around the squares than carts lately. This is not normal.

Forgot it was market night as well. All those "apartment dwellers" must have been there to get an address plaque for their lamppost. Oh, wait a minute----"apartment dwellers" don't have lampposts.:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

there are many people I know including myself that don’t have golf carts , and others that have golf carts that never drive them to squares . I’ve also heard that the people in apartments have to have an invisible mark placed on there forehead for security and is monitored by special glasses , maybe the OP has a pair and is able to spot all those apartment dwellers

Oh its true! Many people are saying........
Somebody told me they just re-purposed the letter "A" from the book The Scarlet Letter. Now the A stands for Apartment. :1rotfl::1rotfl:

Woke up one morning and we both had an A. Thought it was for Apple who knew it was for appt.

maistocars 10-07-2022 11:45 AM

Rocky and the Rollers always increase traffic. Couple that with Market night and you have a significant amount of traffic.

Edna’s has food trucks. Hardly the several restaurants as the other squares. My favorite square is LSL, hands down.

No surprise the folks from the southern villages are traveling in their cars to the squares north of 44. Eastport can’t be built soon enough!

It will be very nice when eastport is open but for now they have no choice but to head north for many restaurants and entertainment.

The Apt dwellers have just as much right as Villagers to the entertainment since taxes pays for part of the cost.

I do not want to move out of The Villages but I surely did not expect this influx of population in this community when we purchased here in 2009. We were told that the built out would at 466A. Well, that certainly didn't pan out.

the squares are open to all, whether they live in TV or not.
These "apartment dwellers" who are gumming everything up, might very well be not Villagers at all.
And, just wait until I and my fellow snowbirds get down there to really congest things...I'll be there in 8 days with a huge murmuration right behind me...it'll be grand.

Standard reply by ALL VILLAGE SALES AGENTS.. We were told the same thing when we bought in Charlotte that there would be NO HOMES SOUTH OF 44. LOL As they were pouring KOOL ADE.
